Advanced Spiritual Navigation

Advanced Spiritual Navigation ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

From the standpoint of spiritual development, there's a lot of exciting stuff going on in the world today. People are accelerating at an amazing rate. Even newbies to the field find it possible go deep in an instant.

There are so many seminars, activations, videos, available to explore. You can practically get a Ph.D in quantum physics watching YouTube!

It's exhilarating to embark on this journey, to discover that you aren't your persona or how your family, friends, culture has defined you.

When you awaken, it can also be intense, with so much access to infinite wisdom. All the high vibe "downloads"can be overwhelming.

There's a pitfall to being a spiritual seeker. Since we don't feel we have any information on our own, our natural tendency is to look "out there" for the knowledge. And energetically, we go "out there" for the answers. For this reason, there's a stereotype about spiritual people being flakey or ungrounded.

It's ironic, because we go "out there" to become more spiritual, but when you die, you discover you were Spirit all along. So a vital part of your spiritual evolution is learning how to bring your awareness *into* your body.

Now there are practices that help do this, such as mindfulness meditations, or yoga. These are very useful in helping you get anchored and connected within your physical form.

But there's still the inclination to go "out there" for information, to give up seniority to the teacher.

At some point, you have to navigate from your own authority as Consciousness.

I'm not talking about being a hotshot guru, or the next Ted Talks star. That's an egoic reaction that gets in the way of progressing to this level.

The whole reason for being on this planet is to experience the world as Consciousness in form. People often get to the first part of this, learning to explore reality from within a physical body.

But they miss the second part of this, owning their own authority as Consciousness. That's the game changer.

It's like taking never ending dance lessons. At some point you need to leave the classroom and dance. At some point you *are* your own choreographer and director.

Advanced spiritual navigation isn't being able to transmigrate at will, see auras, or talk to dead people. It's really very simple, and boils down to two steps:

1. Inhabit your own body.
2. Go where you want to go.

You will find, when you operate as Consciousness, this gets easier and easier. And you discover that all your old desires and goals dissipate. Or effortlessly show up in your life. Reality reorganizes in your favor. It becomes a benevolent universe.

It won't always be perfect, but you'll know not to steer from effort or resistance (that takes you towards unconsciousness). Instead you step forward with ease and grace, and watch things unfold more perfectly that you could possibly imagine.

Owning Space vs. Claiming Space

Owning Space vs. Claiming Space ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

Years ago, when I taught "psychic meditation", the one lesson I didn't feel confident teaching was "owning space". Intellectually, I understood the concept, but as an empath it was difficult to "own" my space when I felt so many other people's emotions inside me.

Recently I heard someone talking about "claiming space". They were talking about claiming the ability to create wealth. It was appealing, but felt like it missed the mark.

Think about explorers claiming a new country for their nation. Is that land theirs? Claiming feels like taking ownership of something outside of you, something you don't feel like you really have in the first place.

Your space is yours, in the old days I'd say it's your 'God given right', and no one can come into your space without your permission. But the step up from that is that your space is yours, and you as Consciousness have ultimate seniority within it.

Owning space is taking ownership of what is already innately yours. You are Consciousness, infinitely powerful and wise. When you acknowledge this about yourself, you're owning your space.

People have all sorts of reactions to someone owning their own space. They can accuse them of being heartless (when they're simply being neutral), they can become competitive with them (competition is an indicator of where they are not owning their own space and an opportunity for you to own yours).

Owning your own space has nothing to do with anyone else. People often revert to childhood and become rebellious when they're in the process of learning to own space.

Space isn't anything you have to "take back" or "claim". It's inherently yours, and all you need to do is focus within yourself, and own it.

When you do that, reality reorganizes around you. The thing you were seeking or desire, shows up.  You're able to have the relationship you've always wanted, because you're in relationship with yourself first. You're able to have the wealth you've always desired, because you're centered in your own source energy (rather than in the space of lack).

This world is one of polarities, dichotomies, and opposites. Our bodies are born into it seemingly weak and helpless. We feel that whatever we need is outside of ourselves.

When you shift your identity from your body and it's personality to yourself as Consciousness, you realize that it is your own essence that is the creative source. When you focus outside of yourself, you're going to experience more lack. When you focus on yourself as Consciousness within, you'll discover a wellspring of untold potential.

Try that for the next week. Take your focus off of your external circumstances, and focus on yourself as Consciousness instead. Tune into the infinite energy within, and own it as yourself. And see what happens!

Don't Apologize For Being Neutral

Don't Apologize For Being Neutral ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

There is a lot of emotional and mental noise in the world today. Things are really polarized. And there's a big message out there that if you aren't upset about something, there's something wrong with you!

Often, however, the more dramatic the scenario, the less likely it is to be true. It's more likely a distraction from something else really going on. Or is simply an indicator of a distorted perception.

97% of us grew up in dysfunctional homes. Many of us suffer from PTSD. When triggered, there's going to be a very, *big*, reaction. And, wow, there's a lot to react to in the news.

But how does it feel to react to all that's going on? How does it feel to be in the thick of it?

I find it really frustrating and painful. I had a lot of sleepless nights this time last year. It reminded me of the misogynism and narcissism of my childhood. My response, when I got old enough, was to fight back. In that scenario, I think I was the only one to leave without feeling like a victim, with a sense of power because I could stand up.

Yeah. That's a pattern that's not in present time.

My expanded perspective now, as Consciousness, is that anything that is negating, anything that is dramatic, is not the Truth. It is an entanglement of density. It emanates from bodies and personalities and is disconnected from Consciousness.

When I'm responding as Consciousness, I feel neutral. I don't get emotionally caught up in the stories. I have a bigger picture viewpoint. I see the greater Light of Consciousness shining in the world and exposing that which has been hidden in shadows. I see uncomfortable patterns rising to the surface to be cleared.

There's a valuable tool I learned when working with families and friends of alcoholics, and it's called 'detachment'. It's being able to detach, to not be emotionally affected by the alcoholic's behavior. When you stop responding to the chaos created by someone actively drinking, you can clearly see how you can adjust your own behavior. You can learn how to step back and let them have the consequences of their actions. It gives you the energy to take care of yourself instead.

Now, folks who are embroiled in the drama are going to get pissed off if you're not in the trenches with them. They'll accuse you of being disassociated, or frigid, or 'on the other side'.

But when you respond as Consciousness, you're able to not get drawn in. You don't need to apologize for being neutral.

Being neutral doesn't mean not having any feelings at all. But the feelings are even, not turbulent. Mostly as Consciousness, I feel compassionate, and even amused if it's really batshit crazy.

I've even felt sad about some situations. But as Consciousness I know things can get reversed in an instant. As Consciousness, I know that *everyone* is Consciousness, even if they're not currently acting like it.

As Consciousness I know that this lifetime happens in a blink of an eye. This, too, shall pass. They, too, shall pass. Things, and people, can change.

Responding, from neutral, is retaining your power as Consciousness. No one has authority over your internal space. You can make empowered choices as Consciousness. And that leads to an incredible sense of freedom.

Power

(c) 2009 Joan M. Newcomb

I'm in the midst of a tremendous shift of awareness. Which reminds me of a joke - what's the difference between a pun and a fart? A pun is a shift of wit...

What it feels like is a graceful transition into an expanded awareness. Unlike previous shifts which have been painful and dramatic bottoming out before becoming enveloped in Love.

Not that there hasn't been some dramas along the way... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Everything nowadays is the opposite of whatever it's been. Some of which we already know and understand. We no longer have to work 8-6, fifty weeks of the year, remain loyal to one company for a lifetime, stay married to our first husband for the sake of the kids and the mortgage on the house, continue going to Church because what would the neighbors (or our parents) think?

It's an energetic dance. People who've seemed powerful in the past, because they were so rich, so dominant and controlling, are revealed to be the least powerful of all. They've operated from the Power outside belief. The Truth is power's inside. Standing in your own power doesn't feel very powerful (in the old way of experiencing it). Empowerment often feels normal, relaxed, unhurried, centered.

I recently witnessed someone who feels very powerless in their own life manipulating an entire group to their personal will. Yet another interesting illusion of power. More on that later. Maybe.

In relaxing into my internal sense of power, I've received some fun "cookies" from the Universe (reassurance that my Expanded Self is truly driving the bus). Sunday I saw a Safeway advertising gas at $2.23 a gallon. I stopped by there yesterday to fill up, and the price was $2.37. Had I misread it? Did the price go up? I got $10 worth of gas, then did so much driving I was at empty when I returned home. This morning I went to another gas station and the sign said "$2.23" per gallon. I drove up to the pump, looked over and saw the gas station owner changing the sign to $2.37. I looked at the pump and the price still read $2.23. I looked at the owner and he said, 'Lucky for you I haven't changed the other side of the sign'.

Yesterday I had a nail in my tire, which kept me from attending the meeting where the group was manipulated. It was a gift from my Expanded Self to not engage with drama. More on that later. Maybe.

Today I went to Discount Tire and asked them how much to patch my tire? How much to put it back on my car? It was all free.

Okay, maybe these things don't seem all that miraculous to you. But I'm enjoying my cookies, anyway.

I've noticed it doesn't feel like power when it's genuine power (doesn't feel powerless either).

Crazy people/irritating situations are just indicators where you have given up power, or have power stored in this illusion we call Life. When you dance this particular energetic dance, it's all about reclaiming power. Taking your power back from these situations actually means withdrawing your energy from the illusion. When you do, everything falls apart at first (sometimes) and then everything falls into place (like I'm experiencing now).

When I was a kid, my mom read me stories about Brer Rabbit, who was always escaping Brer Fox and Brer Bear's tricks. One day Brer Fox and Brer Bear made a Tar Baby sitting on a bench. Brer Rabbit came along and said Howdy, then got offended when the Tar Baby said nothing back. He started to sock the Tar Baby and got stuck.

You can, if you like, react to crazy people, irritating situations. However, to me it's kind of like the Tar Baby, just gets you wrestling with them and giving them more power.

Brer Rabbit got free when he convinced Brer Bear and Brer Fox to throw him in the briar patch, by pleading with them *not* to. It turned out to be where he grew up, so he got away free.

I mean, if you want to wrestle with the Tar Baby and get thrown in a briar patch, that's one way to do it. I'm just saying, why wrestle at all?

Sometimes we can't help it. The Expanded part of you knows not to wrestle, but you're covered with tar anyway. You can be amused AND irritated - it shows you're regaining seniority.

Seniority is a tricky concept. It comes from the idea that You are senior in your own space, your own creation. You ARE your expanded Self. There is NO power outside of you, not in anyone or anything. You're the main character in your hologram. Seniority isn't authority (which implies power over others). Seniority is... resting within your own energy. With the knowledge that it's all your own space, everything is your own creation. But you don't have to get caught up in the drama of it. You can channel surf and decide where to put your attention.

What can I suggest for you to do this week? Keep reclaiming power. Keep breathing. Inhale a lot. Exhale some. Step back from the drama. See what happens when you stop trying. Do something different. Do the opposite of what you've always done. And watch what unfolds.

Email me and let me know what happens when you do!
