How To Expand Your Universe

How To Expand Your Universe ©2016 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

I have relatives on the East Coast that have been having a rough time. Their conservative party is disintegrating and it feels, to them, that their essential values are being threatened.

They're really upset that their way of life may be affected by people coming from other countries and forcing those cultures on them.

As I write this, it sounds ironic to me. It's what our white immigrant ancestors did to the Natives.  It's also what our Christian missionary ancestors did around the world.

One side of my family came over on the Mayflower, in 1640, escaping religious persecution and seeking the freedom offered by the New World. Another side came from Ireland at a time when the U.S. hated the tide of Irish immigrants. The Irish were considered lowlife.

So my progenitor told everyone they were Scottish, including their offspring. We were so proud of being Scottish, and didn't discover we actually came from Sligo until the 1970s.

Oops.

Now, I was a conservative myself until my mid 30's. On election day, I was stuck home as two kids had chicken pox, and the conservative president that was up for reelection had just vetoed the Family Leave Bill. And it occurred to me that maybe politics did affect me.

So I shifted my perspective.

Spiritually, I went through years of metaphysical training that was a marvelous discipline.  I came out an energetic athlete (but only in one form of practice). I taught that training for several decades. A fundamental focus was awareness of space. A distortion of the teachings was that merging energetic space was bad.

Then I took a course with David Spangler, visionary, author and spiritual teacher, and Lorian priest.  He mentioned that each person you come into contact with expands your Universe.

'Expands your Universe'? I thought they 'invaded your space'.

Then I started to realize that, you can't truly fall in love if you cannot merge energy.

You can be aware of energy, and have your own field be clear, when you don't resist and you don't judge. When you deem something as 'bad' or 'invasive' you actually shut yourself down and lock 'negativity' into your own space.

When you are neutral, non-resistant, compassionate *and* detached, stuff you don't like passes through, doesn't stick or doesn't get attracted.

'Invading your space' creates barriers and resistance. The idea that immigrants are 'forcing' their cultures on you is a distortion.

Other cultures enrich our own. The English language is made up of many different languages. Our way of life is influenced by many different cultures. New people in our world expands our experience.

However you can't put new wine into old wineskins.

New energy, new experiences, new people to know and love, can't come into your awareness if you are closed down or defensive. If you are holding on to old thinking and perceptions.

The solution you've been looking for? The relationship you've been longing for? The dream job you've been wishing for? Could be right in front of you if your eyes are open. Could be right across the street if you broadened your horizons. Could be in your Universe if you expanded it by welcoming in change.

This week, I invite you to drop your shields, relax your boundaries, and become energetically open. Let energies pass through you like wind through a screen door.

Imagine your atoms separating and releasing whatever you've resisted. You might have been closed down and creating what you don't want, and keeping out what you truly desire.

Try this for the next seven days, and see how your reality transforms!

Softening Into... resistance, competition, illness...

©2009 Joan M. Newcomb

Last week I ran into someone that I knew a while ago but never particularly liked. I found myself chatting with her and every time an uncomfortable feeling came up, I softened into it. I could remain neutral and yet friendly with her. Afterwards I was able to let her go (energetically).

This week I had a phone conversation with someone I didn't know and afterwards was surprised to find a knot in my stomach. From experience, I know this to be an energetic cord. Whatever the reason for it, I softened into the discomfort and a short time later was breathing easily again.

Recently I felt crummy, something passing through my system. I drank a lot of Airborne and Emergen-C and sucked on Ricola lozenges. I'm not used to being sick, so I went about my work week, but by Tuesday evening it occurred to me that maybe I didn't have to attend a meeting, I could stay home instead. I softened into the experience and soon felt much better.

Today I was in the middle of entering emails into my address list when the power suddenly went out. My whole morning was redirected, so I softened into it. I ended up in bed finishing a book I've been reading by flashlight. Amusingly, I got to a part where the author was talking about confronting a painful situation from their past, and they went numb. "Oh, I remember going numb" I thought. And the power went back on.

It was such a clear Gift and Message. The Gift was a bit of a day off after an intense week. The Message was about staying staying present and not resisting, letting all these experiences pass through.

Softening into is a form of non-resistance. Energy can come and go, in the form of people, in the form of illness, in the form of circumstances. Softening into is going with the flow, not swimming upstream against the current.

I'm softening into my inner resistances as well. The part of me that had a whole agenda for today, which pretty much got blown along with the power. The part of me that wants to be some place different than where I am. I'm here. I'm breathing. I'm listening to the parakeets in the next room. I feel very ... Eckhart Tolle.

The world hasn't stopped because I didn't get everything done on my list. Someone actually called for a reading, so my receptive flow hasn't ceased (maybe increased).

Notice where in your life you soften into. Any person, place thing that you're tense or uncomfortable with, try softening into it.

Watch how it changes the flow of your day, your week, your life!

Morphic Fields

©2008 Joan M. Newcomb

Recently I’ve been seeing things as patterns, patterns in the morphic field. We are all energy, our physical bodies are dense energy, our personalities and emotions are less dense but still detectable, our spiritual/essence energy is more diffuse, but if you imagine seeing everything as electrons, or simply ’energy’, that’s what it all is.

We exist in morphic fields, which are unseen but definitely felt. Energy patterns will waft through our reality, affecting our feelings and behavior as well.

Groups have morphic fields, which will include different roles. People within groups have the option (note I said ‘option') of stepping into these roles - although they usually find themselves doing so unconsciously. If you have a matching resonance (experience) with the role, you’ll find yourself playing it within the group. When you start to be more conscious in the world, you realize you have the option of *not* playing that role, and can watch with amusement as someone else takes it on.

Recently I visited my mother, and noticed the energy within her house as very distinct and slow moving. She’s rented her place for at least twenty years, and retired about eleven years ago. Any place that’s been occupied for a long time will have a settled energy, and it’s even more so in my mother’s house.

Diseases have morphic fields, and dysfunctional families do, too. Western medicine has a morphic field. Years ago I was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid. The standard procedure at the time was a hysterectomy. I felt like I was being railroaded to a having one, and it took quite a bit of effort to step out of the energy flow. When I did, new possibilities appeared, my symptoms stopped and now everything is normal, all without surgery or medication.

Family patterns are morphic fields(also known as miasms). People from certain backgrounds will keep finding family patterns arising in new relationships or in the workplace as they haven't completely cleared themselves of the energy of their history.

The acceleration of energy at this time is lighting up these denser patterns, making them more obvious. Having just been in Washington DC, it was interesting to notice and learn, from talking to people who work and live there, how the impending changes have been effecting them.

If you’re strongly attached to your patterns, if you believe them to be real, it’s going to be more painful and difficult to let them go. Seeing them simply as patterns makes it much easier.

I was talking to a fellow Matrix practitioner who is also a local government worker in Virginia. She kept saying how "bad" the energy is there exhibiting a definite lack of neutrality! So I looked at the government energy around DC and saw it as white and metallic shapes. Not comfortable to me but not “bad”.

Non resistance helps you drop these energy patterns within you and also keeps you from magnetically attracting them into your life! When you are in a space of non-resistance and no-effort, it's as if your molecules separate and theses energies pass through you as easily as wind through a screen door!

As we approach the holidays, morphic fields around family, and traditions will arise. I invite you to practice neutrality by finding a way to be detached and amused, as if it's all a movie. See how different your experience is this year!

Resistance

©2008 Joan M. Newcomb

My son is taking Advanced Placement Government as one of his senior year high school classes, so his television viewing choices have changed. I really liked it during the last presidential election when he only watched the Daily Show (a pseudo-news show on the Comedy Channel). Now he's watching CNN and all of the debates.

Having spent a third of my childhood in Washington DC (and lived at one time ten blocks from the White House), I am very jaded about politics. I've pretty successfully avoided the news for the last decade. I choose to read the newspaper, because you can skip directly to the comics (something you can't do with television).

Recently there have been a whole lot of emails going around about Sarah Palin, and because they're mostly Saturday Night Live video clips, I've gotten sucked into watching them. (Go to www.youtube.com and search for Tina Fey, if you're curious).

Yesterday I watched the Daily Show, which compared McCain and Palin's folksy distortions of the truth, with Obama and Biden's retorts (which was stooping to the same level, if you ask me). I found myself getting worried about this country's future, and resisting the mudslinging. Then I added my own special spin on it by thinking - the next president's term will end in 2012. If Obama is elected, it will be a mass consciousness shift that will be instantaneously enlightening and pain-free. If McCain is elected it will be the Apocalypse.

Now, isn't *that* special? I'm resisting the distortions of the truth so intensely my own brain is adding some distortions of it's own.

Resistance achieves the opposite of what you desire. When you resist, you magnetically attract what you don't want. Resistance means you're focusing on what you resist, which means you're steering your life in that direction.

If you want to get the other guy elected, really, really resist him and his VP.

I'd better work on my resistance real quick, because I'm spending the last week of October in DC visiting my mom, a staunch Republican who is usually glued to the TV. I fly home on election day.

How can I not contribute to the collective energy of resistance? By practicing non-resistance. Non-resistance is the ability to be a 'body of glass' to whatever energy one is resisting. Imagine being a screen door and the winds of resistance blows right through (but the bugs don't). Imagine being transparent, so the mudslinging doesn't stick. Imagine all the space between your molecules, negative energy just flows through and out the other side.

Another way is to drop your focus and look at something else. Let go of everything you can't control (which is pretty much everything outside of you). Don't try focusing on the opposite - a sweet and happy Disney fantasy of 'the right' presidential candidate getting elected, because you're still resisting 'the wrong' one.

Take your focus off the election entirely. (For those of you in other countries, you can substitute something else you resist, although I suspect American politics is universally resisted). 90% of us have made up our minds already, so there's no need to continue thinking about it until the day you actually vote or send in your mail-in ballot.

There's lots of other television channels to choose to view, there's other sections of the newspaper, there's other topics of conversation. I personally am enjoying Cash Cab on the Discovery Channel (it's a game show that takes place in a taxi in New York City). My paper has two sets of crossword puzzles *and* sudoku. And here in the Northwest, the weather is always an entertaining thing to talk about.

Changing what's between your ears and what's in your heart will have a powerful ripple effect to your family and friends and beyond. The only way we can change the world is by changing *our* world, within.

Non-Resistance

Non-Resistance© 2008 Joan M. Newcomb

Abraham-Hicks says that there is only Source Energy and resistance to Source; that there is no darkness, no evil, only resistance. Long ago I realized that evil was just our Collective Consciousness of negative emotions and thoughts, and that if we’re engaged in an addiction or compulsively dwelling on negative topics, we’re contributing to this ‘pool’ of black energy.

So there is only Source Energy, which is both the Creative Source in this Universe and also our Essence, and there is resistance to source. Every thought we think goes out like a request to Source. So if we think, ‘I’d so like to have a new hybrid car’ – Source immediately receives the request and goes about manifesting it for us. However if our next thought is ‘but I can’t afford it’ then we’ve immediately negated the request. We’ve put out our own resistance to Source. Every time we see someone drive by in a new hybrid car and resentfully think, ‘yeah, well, they’re rich enough to afford it’ – then we’ve put out resistance to Source.

We’ve learned patterns of resistance from our childhood, inherited from previous generations, adopted from various peer groups and cultural influences, so that now life is like playing ‘bumpo-cars’ (like at the seaside or amusement parks where you drive little electric cars with huge rubber bumpers in this arena where the point is to bump into everyone else; a major whiplash opportunity and undoubtedly a chiropractor’s nightmare) rather than an enjoyable Disneyland where dreams really do come true.

In previous issues I’ve talked about techniques to release energy from within one’s space, ways to let go of one’s inner resistance to Source. Non-Resistance is a concept and a technique to not absorb resistance from outside oneself – how to avoid the other bumpo-cars on the road, so to speak. Imagine yourself to be transparent, your molecules loose and relaxed so that negative energy passes right through them. Originally this technique was called Body of Glass, and if that works for you, then it’s a great visual image for you to use. I have two rambunctious sons who’ve managed to break windows or mirrors in several houses that we’ve lived in, so that image no longer works for me! The idea of being transparent, the sensation of my molecules having space between them, so that negative energy passes through me like a summer breeze through a screen door, works well for me.

Consider what driving through rush hour traffic could be like, if you were Non-Resistant! Consider what telling your teenager to clean their room could be like from Non-Resistance! You could maintain your own inner serenity, life could be pleasant, others could be free to experience their own reality and you needn’t contribute to their resistance nor the resistance of the Collective Consciousness!

Last week I had a non-resistant experience based on my own choices. I had to go into Seattle (note the word ‘had’- I was primed for resistance!) for a meeting, and chose to make the best use of my time by visiting all the PCC Natural Markets and putting up business cards on their bulletin boards. Because my meeting took twice as long as anticipated, it was now rush hour when I started on my drive through the city. I caught my ‘I hate rush hour traffic’ thought and decided that I would take the scenic route to all my destinations. This meant that I drove through areas with parks, I enjoyed the sunset reflecting off the clouds, I noticed all the Christmas lights that were still up on people’s houses, the beautiful different kinds of buildings there are in the city, and even on ‘ugly’ apartment buildings, some residents had their balconies filled with plants and wind chimes! I ended up spending nearly five hours winding my way from North Seattle down to the south end and to the West Seattle ferry dock, feeling relaxed and even joyous about my journey. I appreciated all the unique and wonderful people in the world and the creative ways they decorated their homes, no matter how humble their abodes may be. I realized how much I love Seattle, and how fun it is to know all the little ins and outs of a city so that I could go the ‘scenic route’. And then I got to ride the ferry back to my island feeling very content and happy indeed.

So, notice whether your life is more like ‘bumpo cars’ or are you taking the scenic route on your path? Non-resistance is a series of moment-to-moment choices on how to respond or react to life’s circumstances. How do you choose to experience life, from this moment forward?
