It's The End Of The World!

It's The End Of The World! ©2016 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

It seems catastrophic. It's not what's supposed to be going on. Terrible things are occurring  everywhere. I can't believe this is happening to me.

Sound familiar? Have you been thinking these thoughts? For many people, this is what reality feels like right now.

Crazy things are being reported in the news. It's confusing. Frightening, even. We're grieving the loss of what should be. Angry at what is. Scared of what could be.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
Reckless Company 1904 (Public Domain)

I don't like it either. I'm surprised at the weird shift in the time line. The wacky alt-Universe I've seemed to have woken up in. My body is resistant to it. I want to change, fix or manipulate it and make it different.

That part of you that feels powerless? That feels like it's happening to you? That can't imagine anything good coming out of this?

That's your body. Your body only knows what it has experienced up until now. Your body sees things in terms of survival. It hasn't lived the future yet.

When the story line shifts abruptly, it gets really upset. It feels like it's going to die. It makes up stories based on what it sees or hears. It doesn't have a the bigger picture.

The Essence of who you are, can see farther along the road ahead, knows there are more possibilities than just calamitous ones. It may even be amused by all of this.

It's the part of you that is eternal so it's not fearful it's going to die. It's here. To experience physical reality. It knows this is just a game. It finds this fun.

We're collectively screaming with our hands in the air, forgetting that we're on a roller coaster (not an airplane).

As Consciousness, you are creating reality moment to moment. A complex and beautiful world. The more Consciousness comes into form, the old, rigid, restrictive beliefs and concepts break down.

Your body may not be dying, but part of your identity might be. A reality you were attached to might have changed. This happens to us throughout our lives, every time we graduated and moved up a grade in school, every time we got into and then out of a relationship, started and changed a job.

This seems to be on a global scale, but what is it in you that is dying? What is it in you that is releasing? What loss is your body mourning?

For me, this past year has resurrected old family patterns that I thought had already died. I've been triggered as I see similar behavior played out in the news. I'm surprised to discover how I'm still entangled with them, how I'm still creating my reality through and from them.

If you're really entrenched in them, these changes can feel seismic. What is your personal earthquake about? Where are you being shaken to your core?

Realize that you don't have to stay stuck here. It doesn't have to take years to work through this now.

When we were less Conscious, when we experienced less Consciousness, it took a long time for these things to change. Now they can shift in an instant (or overnight).

The more you operate as Consciousness in the world, the more sudden and unexpected things happen. The cosmic script writer part of you isn't writing an adaption of War And Peace or Les Miserables. It's sweeps week and a reality show. Expect plot twists.

If you want to win an Oscar, by all means go for it. Wrestle that bear. As Consciousness you'll enjoy every minute of it.

If you don't want Grizzly drool on your costume, shift your perspective to Consciousness' bigger picture. You'll see things with joy and wonder, curiosity and amusement. You'll respond differently.

It's not the end of the world, but the beginning of a new reality.

When Good Things Happen To Guilty People

When Good Things Happen To Guilty People ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

There's a book called 'When Bad Things Happen To Good People', which profoundly answers the 'why me' question when terrible things happen.

But I think we're all resolved to bad things happening. The economy's had recent downswings, people have lost their jobs and had to reinvent themselves, divorce statistics are high, and even if your life doesn't have any dramatic events happening in it, there's enough on the news and social media to keep you comfortably miserable.

What we aren't prepared to deal with is when good things happen. When you watch TV and people win the lottery or get a wonderful surprise, they burst into tears. It's painful when good things happen.

I've seen people become successful in their businesses, hit the six (or seven) figure mark, and they are extremely uncomfortable. It's almost like survivor's guilt. Why me, when other people are struggling?

Why not you?

You can hear other's thoughts. Who are you to have success? Who are you to be happy? Who are you to be in love? Who are you to be rich?

We're no longer matching the crowd. We're stepping up and beyond the energy of deprivation and lack.

However, these are the thoughts that hold you back, that keep you from breaking through.

If I become financially successful, no one will like me. I can't attract a life partner if I'm independent. I can't be happy if a friend or family member is suffering.

Here's another way of looking at it: you can provide the example for other's to experience fortune in their own lives. You're showing that it is possible.

When good things happen, it can be hard to enjoy it, because we're stepping out of our discomfort level.

We're expanding our ability to have joy and love and other good stuff.  That's a stretch, for most of us.

You are allowing your Self to be full sized. To be fully Present. To manifest more of your True Self.

As Essence we are infinite, joyous, and free. We are capable creators. We come into physical bodies and roll around in the mud.  It's equally creative to manifest terrible things happening, as having wonderful things happening. A shift of perspective is all it takes.

It's okay to have good things happen. It's your birthright to be happy, joyous, and free. It is all right to vibrate differently than the crowd.

Each person who breaks out of the limitations of their family, peers, culture, creates space for others to join them. You help Consciousness evolve by moving forward yourself.

This week, let yourself dance to your own drummer, let yourself be high on life. Appreciate the good things you already have, and you'll let yourself have more!

My Valentine's to U(niverse)

My Valentine's to U(niverse) ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

Nothing like writing an article about Valentine's day on Friday the 13th...
When I was trying to come up with a catchy title for this article, I thought about doing an anagram on the word love. Evol sounds more like 'evil' than evolve.  It just goes to show that this is a planet of dichotomies.  The physical realm is the opposite of who we really are as Consciousness.  Or is it?

I've written a fair amount on Love, and just did a great Conscious Conversations radio show on the topic. I've experienced falling in love, being in love, loving pets, people, places and things, Love directly with Source.

I think the first time I fully felt the impact of unconditional Love with another human being was when I looked into the eyes of my newborn son. It was a being-to-being opening to something greater in the Universe. Just thinking about that moments shifts me to that infinite connection.
Universal Love

What I notice, when dropping down into that heart connection, is that the world becomes brighter and more clearly in-focus. I truly sense the essential life connection in every surrounding atom and molecule.

As I write about this now, it reminds me of when my mother died. The world became brighter in that same way, as if her life-essence had directly transferred into all the surrounding atoms and molecules.

I know that this world is created from Love, that Consciousness *is* Love, and that is the essential energy behind all of manifestation. I just never realized the link between these experiences, my first direct experience of birth and my first direct experience of death, and Love.

Now, my relationship with my firstborn hasn't been all hearts and flowers. There have been some extremely painful challenges. I had dysfunctional family patterns come up and at times I was a terrible parent. There are things I'll be making amends to him for the rest of our lives. And, there is, inside, a deep, intense, ever-lasting and unconditional Love for this kid (for both my kids), that is the being-to-being connection that transcends the storyline and personalities involved.

Similarly, my relationship with my mother wasn't perfect, although I never resented her not protecting me or not being stronger. The last two years of her life, caretaking her as she had Alzheimer's and cancer, was incredibly difficult.  It aged me physically, took it's toll on my business, and contributed to losing my house. And, the bigger and more important thing, it was an act of Love to midwife her back to Spirit.

With both my kids, I noticed a buildup of Love just prior to their conception.  It was the Being coming into focus in preparation to incarnate into form.

Consciousness *is* Love.  You, as Essence, *are* Consciousness.  YOU are Love.  No matter what is going on in the story of your life, You are Love.  The lifeforce energy that creates and inhabits all matter, is Love.

Imagine bringing your full force of Awareness into your form, imagine your energy coming back from all areas of attention, past, future, all dimensions. Then, from within your space, imagine you radiating Love outwards.

Spend Valentine's Day weekend emanating Love.  Any areas you feel are lacking, imbue them with Love.

Try this for the next 7 days and see how your life unfolds!

Plexiglas Walls

Plexiglas Walls ©2014 Joan M Newcomb

Have you ever found yourself blocked from moving forward?  There's no obvious reason for it.  It's like bumping up against a Plexiglas wall.

Perhaps it's something you've tried to attain again and again, and you just can't get past the invisible barrier.  There's no external barrier that you can see.

Even though you may make up stories about the first, second, or third time your face hits this wall, inwardly you wonder what is wrong with you.

Our reality is made up of pictures, impressions we've received (and created) from the moment we pop out of the womb.  Actually, the moment we pop *into* the womb - we absorb these impressions in utero as well.

We're veritable picture galleries of impressions.  And as long as we're within our families or culture, we're amongst others who have the same pictures.  They're agreed-upon images, so they seem real.

When we step outside our matching pictures, we experience discomfort.  Moving to another country, going away to college, getting married, all expose us to different collective pictures.  We can either expand our Universe by moving beyond our limited gallery, or we can get solidified and stuck.

It's why people get upset with others who are different.  We don't want our world to include those who don't have our same pictures.  Make those people go away!

Life is growth.  When we stop growing, we die.  Body/personalities think it's the other way around - we feel threatened when we have to expand.  We think there's nothing beyond our limitations.  But it's a whole new world out there, baby!

Back to Plexiglas's Walls.  They are pictures we haven't recognized as pictures, yet.  They are family or cultural programming, initially given to protect, perhaps, but now control your reality.

How do you get past something that's invisible?  How do you break through something that feels so solid?

Charging headlong into it doesn't work.  Sitting down and moping doesn't either.  Years of psychotherapy can completely elude them. People can't rescue you from your own pictures.

You have to bypass the conscious mind, since that's the curator of your gallery.  Energy work can be helpful as long as you don't get entangled in effort.

Something to playfully try - imagine blowing bubbles.  Each bubble represents a picture in your wall.  You don't have to know what it is, just imagine the bubbles streaming out or floating up and popping.  Do that on a daily basis, or whenever it occurs to you, and you will see change.

You can sit quietly with your eyes closed and visualize yourself walking up to the Plexiglas wall, reaching out and touching it, and have it become gelatinous or made up of bubbles, and gently move through to the other side.

Be gentle with yourself while doing this work, you are transforming your Universe!

Try this for a week and see what happens!

Why Fight With Patterns?

Why Fight With Patterns? ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

One of the things I noticed when my parents were dying is their patterns unravelling. We each are a tapestry of patterns, a lifetime of accumulated energies.

When we pass, they drop, like clothing without a body. When you're with someone who is passing, your own patterns light up. You either fight tooth and nail for their validity, or you can allow yours to drop as well. The latter is not so easily done, as there are others within your life weaving who are invested in the reality of these patterns.

Since my last parent died, there's been quite a residue of "stuff".  I've chosen to shine light on it, to speak up and to question it, which has caused a discordant ripple in the combined family fabric.

Heck, anything that doesn't agree with the current vibration is going to appear inharmonious. Really, it's a pattern that's come to the surface because it is dissolving.

Why fight with it? Why not step back and let it dissipate? Because to remain silent is, in a way, to agree with it. Because part of the pattern is secrecy and complacency.

Keeping one's mouth shut is part of the pattern. Staying quiet means allowing it to stay within you. And I'm not carrying this forward.

Yet the opportunity is to rise above it, to look down on it from the clouds, so that everyone involved look like ants. From an airplane, do you really feel that engaged with traffic jams below?

If I really let go of the pattern(s) within me, would everyone else behave differently?  There wouldn't be anything to reflect.

If I really let go of the patterns myself, everyone could behave as crazily as they already are behaving, but it wouldn't make me insane as well.

What's crazy is to expect others to behave differently.  We can only change ourselves.

How do you change yourself, when these patterns are so ingrained that they are invisible to you.  They are an accepted part of your family reality.

It's easiest to work on a symbolic level.  You can see it as an image, hear it as a sound, feel it as a vibration.  Imagine yourself, and see the design separate from your energy space.  Or, hear your own note or melody, and mute the disharmonious notes.  Let your vibration be high, light and bright, and what feels 'off' drains out of you into the earth.

Work on a quantum consciousness level, step to one side, into a Universe where that pattern doesn't exist, you never had it, you never will.  Turn and shift in your new space, this will often change the entire cast of characters as well.

Play with this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

Past & Future Ghosts

Past & Future Ghosts ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

[I will be talking about this on my radio show on Feb 26, 2014, click here to listen]

Someone asked me:
"Ghosts from the past appear to people so could it be possible for people to see ghosts from future?  We seem to dwell on communicating with our dead.  Do you think our unborn from future could be communicated with?"

My answer is: Yes

I wouldn't call them ghosts, maybe entities, but on the spirit level there is no time or space, so they're already in existence.

You can communicate with your yet-to-be conceived grandchild.  You'll know exactly what to knit for their Xmas stockings.

Outside of our physical reality, everything is happening simultaneously.  It's too much for our body/personality to comprehend, we so locked into this world where things progress along a timeline.

Within this linear existence, time feels like layers of vibration.  The past is denser, slower moving, the future is faster and feels diffuse.  It feels like it is in the process of coming into form.

People from the past still exist, the 'Ghost' aspect may simply be a denser aspect of their personality still accessible from that previous layer of time.  People from the future exist as well, it's just harder to access something beyond our current vibration.

As I've said in previous articles, all of our past lives and all of our future lives are happening at once.  The pope is simultaneously having a lifetime as a prostitute in Jerusalem several thousand years ago and a dictator of a regime in the next millennium.

If that doesn't seem complex enough, there are parallel Universes, your past and future timelines split at every moment of decision, for every part of you that turned left, there's a part of you that turned right, and carried forward a new storyline.  You have infinite pasts to choose from, infinite futures to choose.

That includes babies born, babies not born, people who died, people who didn't die, etc.

If you step back to look, it's like colored threads of connections, intricate fibre optic lines running out and through everyone in existence, everyone who ever existed, anyone who will exist.  You can almost hear the humming of human lives.  If you step back from that, the colors weave into a multilayered tapestry, the humming becomes a chorus of bees.

And if you step back from that, it becomes one.  Again.  It started with an impulse, a thought, a creation of Consciousness.  It doesn't exactly end (just as it didn't exactly begin), but as you step back, the individuality blends back into Oneness.

An interesting and fun thing to do is to communicate with *your* future self.  For instance, if you're going through a difficult time, you can talk to the you that is 5 or 10 years in the future, who's already lived through what you're dealing with now.

I used to do that, when I was having tough times in my 40's, and now I will have these weird, reverse deja-vu's, when I will suddenly feel my past self.  I get to assure the past me that things are much better now.

Have fun with this, this week.  Tune into future Selves to help you make decisions, give you solutions, to whatever you're dealing with now.  Try this for 7 days and see what happens!

Giraffes and Ostriches

Giraffes and Ostriches ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

Most people know the stereotype of ostriches, they hide their heads in the sand, hoping that things won't change (or that they won't have to do anything themselves to change).

However, there are also giraffes.  They hide their heads in the clouds, dreaming big dreams, but not looking down at reality.

Both are oblivious to what is going on around them.

Ostriches, it's a little more obvious that their strategy won't work.  Eventually you have to come up for air, and find out you're as stuck as you've always been.

Giraffes, however, have an appealing story.  They throw around ideas like 'Law of Attraction'.  "I'm visualizing a better future."

Regardless of where your head is, eventually you're still going to have to do whatever it is you've been resisting.

Sometimes it's not so bad.  Sometimes you don't resist it at all.

Problem is, if you have clouds or sand in your eyes, you can't see other possibilities or solutions. Only when you see what is, can you do something about it.

Sometimes we don't realize that our head is in the clouds or we've buried ourselves in the sand.  How do you come out of it?

Simple - imagine your feet on the ground, connected to the earth.  You can even imagine the souls of your feet opening up and drawing the energy in.  This helps bring you down to earth, and feel comfortable in your body.

If your vision is obscured by clouds, imagine gold sunlight burning through.

Sometimes it's not your delusion, but your family or work environment.  Imagine gold energy coming down through your home or office.  Shine light and the truth will be revealed.

Usually, no matter how bad you imagined it to be, reality is a relief.

Try these techniques for the next seven days and see what happens!

What is Divine Grace (and how can I get me some)?

©2013 Joan M. Newcomb

Different belief systems all talk about the concept of Grace.  The basic understanding is that it's an energy that transforms, that lifts you up from discomfort, that relieves you of past burdens.   They differ on how you get it.

Some believe you have to earn it, either through good works, abstaining, or suffering.  On the other hand, some believe it is a gift from God.

If it's a gift, do you still have to work for it, or is it randomly bestowed upon you?  That question alone it mired in the belief that it is something outside to be sought or given.

The energy of Grace is the energy of transformation.  Transformation changes everything instantaneously.

Everything is energy.  As Essence, you are pure energy, a high vibration that both transcends and somewhat embodies your physical form.  Bodies are dense energy, so are furniture, trees, things that seem solid and real.  Your emotions are energy, vibrational communication from your physical form.

Your personality is energy, it both an expression of your Essence, and an accumulation of projections, thoughts, impressions and concepts.

When you view things from body/personality, it appears that everything is happening to you.  Grace is bestowed from an external God.  It is dependant on good works, accruing good karma. It supposedly releases sins, transgressions, errors, actions and reactions that cause pain.

When you are in the Present moment, seeing things as Essence/Spirit, you Know that You *are* Grace.  Everything just is.  Denser vibrations settle to the ground.  What is left is expansiveness, clarity and Joy.

You can choose Grace, become willing for change to happen, or you can step into Present Time, but sometimes, Grace just happens.

When you're in the present moment, attuned to You as Essence, Grace is everywhere and everything.

Everything is perfect, just as it is.  The timing is always right, when you are in present time.
