Reality Isn't What You Think

Reality Isn't What You Think ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

When we go through a Consciousness Shift, it can be pretty disorienting. We're sensing and experiencing things so differently than before. It can feel expansive, joyous, overwhelming.

Our minds kick into high gear trying to figure out what is going on and how to handle it. Our minds want to create some sort of equilibrium, but they only know what they've experience before, so they end up directing us back to our previous state.

When I went to Findhorn the first time, the shift was seismic. I started feeling it when I booked my Experience Week, six months earlier. Now I see that I was welcoming in the greater light of Consciousness.

A couple months before I left for Scotland, I started feeling enveloped in overwhelming love. I also started having premonitions about my time there.  I was concerned I was going to fall in love if I went there. It seemed pretty clichéd, as everyone falls in love when they go to Findhorn.

So of course, I fell in love with one of my focalisers, who subsequently turned out to be gay, which eventually transmuted into a friendship.

What I see now is that I couldn't just receive the enveloping Love of Consciousness (it turns out that the focalisers meditate on their upcoming Experience groups, blessing them with love, and that's what I'd been experiencing). I was viewing it through my mind's preconceived notion that it had to be expressed through an "in-love" relationship.

The second time I felt this same enveloping Love, it was after leaving a dysfunctional relationship. I had about nine months of this extraordinary experience, which then dissipated when I fell "in-love" with someone who checked all the boxes of my mind's expectations (tall and wealthy were two of the boxes), but who was spiritually incompatible. When it ended, it was traumatic, and I plunged into a pool of shame and depression.

The evolving Consciousness Shift I've been experiencing for the last decade has been different. It's called into question everything I believed was solid and real. Whereas my old techniques brought me more into the density of form (I would say that "gravity increased" when I used them), my new experiences shift me into a reality that is expansive and buoyant.

My mind thought this was awfully flakey. It judged me as being "ungrounded".  But when I tried to use my old techniques, they don't work on this level. It's like trying to run MS-DOS on a MacBook Air. Or picking up a landline expecting to send a text message.

All around us you can see minds losing their shit and trying to redirect reality back to what was familiar to them. And when you stop and look at what used to be, it wasn't really all that fun or lovely. It was probably pretty painful.

The rules for operating in this new reality are, in many ways, opposite of the way things were before.
Our minds are going to get us to where ever we want to go.  Even if they're thinking "outside the box", they're still thinking. They're trying to figure it out.

The solution is to be intuitive, and improvisational. Exploring with curiosity. Being present without expectations.

Separate and Unified Reality

Separate and Unified Reality ©2016 Joan M Newcomb

Whenever there's an accident, police usually interview eye witnesses. What's interesting is, out of five or ten or twelve accounts, there will be five or ten or twelve sometimes widely varying versions of what occurred. How can this be?

Each person is existing within their own reality, viewing things through their own perceptions, interpreting things from their own experiences. That explains a great deal. It explains why you and your spouse heard entirely different things when having a discussion about the budget. It explains why your kid thinks 'picking up his room' means piling everything in a corner ("I picked it up to move it there"). It explains why your parents thought they did a damn fine job of raising you, but you and your siblings may beg to differ.

But wait, there's more! Thomas Young was an 19th century English physicist who discovered during his experiments that electrons behaved differently when observed than when no one was in the room. In other words, the observer's consciousness altered the outcome.

We are constantly effecting out reality by our view of it. Everyone else is, too. What if everyone is existing in simultaneous but completely different realities? When they enter your sphere of influence, they behave the way you expect them to, because at that moment they are reflections of your perceptions. And vice versa. If you think of this world as an extremely complex video game created by an omnipotent intelligence, then you can see how this can all be possible.

What's unified is the agreed-upon limitations and definitions of the world we all live in. The sun rises in the East, every year you get older and you'll get sick if you don't wash your hands, are some of these.

However, there have been moments in history when large groups of us have had a massive change of perception and reality changes as well. The earth used to be flat, until someone sailed beyond the horizon and proved it was round.

Newton's theory of gravity explains that all of us are held on this planet by its invisible pull towards the earth's core. All the planets are held in this solar system by the pull of gravity towards the sun. Outer space is vast nothingness, with only gravity holding things together. But then Einstein's theory of relativity puts forth the idea that space isn't nothingness, but more like an invisible fabric of space-time. The sun sits in this space, causing it to curve, and the planets roll around on the edges of this curve. This is all still very neat and tidy, the earth stays in its orbit, we stay on the planet, life is good. Until the next massive change of perception: Quantum theorists are coming up with a less predictable version of how everything works.

One time I was teaching a grounding exercise to my beginning students. They'd learned a technique to ground themselves by imagining an energetic connection from their first chakra to the center of the earth. It's a useful tool for feeling increased stability, as well as for releasing energy. I love grounding; I've been doing it for nearly 30 years. I love the way I feel magnetically connected to the earth and how my body feels heavier, like gravity has increased. My students were learning an additional tool, to ground the room or space they are in, which makes the area feel more stable and secure.

We grounded the classroom space, then stepped outside the studio to ground the land, and that's when it began happening. Instead of the familiar feeling of gravity, I started to gently bend backwards, which is what happens when I practice Consciousness Techniques (sometimes it's just rocking back and forth, but sometimes it's slowly falling backwards to the ground). We walked around to different parts of my property and each time I'd feel the 'wave'... and what was more unnerving is I couldn't sense the center of the Earth.

Now I've been working with the belief that my life is a holographic program, rather like Star Trek the Next Generation's holodeck. So I closed my eyes and imagined that, instead of standing on the grass behind my house, I was standing in the large, gridded room of the holodeck. I grounded that. Things felt more stable. Except that there wasn't a center to ground it to, so I'm not certain where it went.

I don’t really have much more to say except that my perception of reality is obviously changing. And I’m wondering if it has to do with the mass consciousness shift that I know is happening to us all. We are in another one of those massive changes of perception. Our collective reality has changed, and for many people it is exciting and exhilarating. However, things are uncomfortable for some people, depending on how rigid or fixed they are in their thinking. It will be helpful to stay open and adaptable while things are in flux!

That’s enough to chew on for now…

Past & Future Ghosts

Past & Future Ghosts ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

[I will be talking about this on my radio show on Feb 26, 2014, click here to listen]

Someone asked me:
"Ghosts from the past appear to people so could it be possible for people to see ghosts from future?  We seem to dwell on communicating with our dead.  Do you think our unborn from future could be communicated with?"

My answer is: Yes

I wouldn't call them ghosts, maybe entities, but on the spirit level there is no time or space, so they're already in existence.

You can communicate with your yet-to-be conceived grandchild.  You'll know exactly what to knit for their Xmas stockings.

Outside of our physical reality, everything is happening simultaneously.  It's too much for our body/personality to comprehend, we so locked into this world where things progress along a timeline.

Within this linear existence, time feels like layers of vibration.  The past is denser, slower moving, the future is faster and feels diffuse.  It feels like it is in the process of coming into form.

People from the past still exist, the 'Ghost' aspect may simply be a denser aspect of their personality still accessible from that previous layer of time.  People from the future exist as well, it's just harder to access something beyond our current vibration.

As I've said in previous articles, all of our past lives and all of our future lives are happening at once.  The pope is simultaneously having a lifetime as a prostitute in Jerusalem several thousand years ago and a dictator of a regime in the next millennium.

If that doesn't seem complex enough, there are parallel Universes, your past and future timelines split at every moment of decision, for every part of you that turned left, there's a part of you that turned right, and carried forward a new storyline.  You have infinite pasts to choose from, infinite futures to choose.

That includes babies born, babies not born, people who died, people who didn't die, etc.

If you step back to look, it's like colored threads of connections, intricate fibre optic lines running out and through everyone in existence, everyone who ever existed, anyone who will exist.  You can almost hear the humming of human lives.  If you step back from that, the colors weave into a multilayered tapestry, the humming becomes a chorus of bees.

And if you step back from that, it becomes one.  Again.  It started with an impulse, a thought, a creation of Consciousness.  It doesn't exactly end (just as it didn't exactly begin), but as you step back, the individuality blends back into Oneness.

An interesting and fun thing to do is to communicate with *your* future self.  For instance, if you're going through a difficult time, you can talk to the you that is 5 or 10 years in the future, who's already lived through what you're dealing with now.

I used to do that, when I was having tough times in my 40's, and now I will have these weird, reverse deja-vu's, when I will suddenly feel my past self.  I get to assure the past me that things are much better now.

Have fun with this, this week.  Tune into future Selves to help you make decisions, give you solutions, to whatever you're dealing with now.  Try this for 7 days and see what happens!
