What Are Emotions? A 5D Perspective

What Are Emotions? A 5D Perspective ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

One of my clients was sharing about her Consciousness shift and it brought into perspective my multileveled awareness of emotions.

At a basic level, emotions are simply a body’s language to communicate to You, Consciousness. It fundamentally expresses itself the same way, and for the same reasons, as it did when it was an infant. Your body cries when it’s tired, hungry, uncomfortable, in pain, frightened, etc. That doesn’t mean you’re crying all the time as an adult, but it’s crying out in some way for your attention.

When we’re paying attention to our body, feeding it right, letting it sleep when it wants to, tending to it’s needs, it’s basically happy. But if we’re off in the future with great potential creations, our body feels abandoned, thinks we’re leaving permanently, it is sure we’re dying. When our attention is on the past, it is a fascinating exploration to Consciousness but the body feels mired in it’s immovability of regret, resentment, mourning, and loss.

That’s at the basic level. The next level is when you take into consideration everyone else’s emotions. As Consciousness we’re all naturally empathic, telepathic, kinesthetic, and/or clairvoyant. So we’ll tune into what others are feeling and think it’s ours. Or even if we can discern it’s someone else’s, it can be hard to detach from it. Other people’s emotions seem to magnify our own.

Old school solutions to these problems were to detach from our own feelings, discipline ourselves not to feel them or ignore them. Many religious practices included denying the body food or comfort as a way to become more spiritual. Which kind of misses the point of being here. What you find out when you die is that you were spirit all along, and your reason for incarnating was to experience being in a physical body.

Being present to the body by being in the present moment, is a more effective way to ‘be more spiritual’. When you’re in present time, that is, your attention is withdrawn from the past or the future, you’re able to fully occupy the body, and then it’s really happy. The heaviness of the past is gone, the uncertainty of the future has disappeared, it knows it’s alive and being taken care of.

We think we don’t like being in present time because it’s too limiting. Our mind, which is our GPS, is programmed to always be going somewhere (and checking past maps for how to get there). But as Consciousness, the present moment is infinitely expansive. True transformation is initiated in the Now.

What I’m finding with my own Consciousness shift, is that my old ways of being in the Now have me tuned into others, and a lot of the time I’m swimming through quite a lot of emotional frequencies. My old ways of detaching seem uncompassionate and incongruent with the increasing interconnectedness that is a result of our collective Evolution that is occurring.

When I play with my Consciousness techniques, everything reorganizes into a completely different experience. It’s like going from old style animation to CGI. I feel like I effortlessly refocus into being more fully embodied and yet extremely clear and alert (without having to spend hours 'cleaning energy', 'getting unstuck', 'removing blocks', etc.).

And it's not about getting to 5D and staying there. As Consciousness we move between levels without judgment.

What about others in our hologram? What about all the emotions being flung about out there?

This morning I woke extremely early and was instantly aware of a lot of uncomfortable feelings. I felt a lot of grief and physical discomfort. My first thought was that it was me, it's been a tough week, physically and emotionally. So I stewed in it for awhile, until I became aware that I was feeling others emotions. So I looked at my clock, to figure out time zones, since I have loved ones 3,000 miles away on either side of the globe from me. A little while later it occurred to me that it was actually the people in this apartment I'm in, which should have been obvious but at 3:25am I assumed they were asleep.

So then I used a Consciousness Technique for centering in the hologram, and discovered that all the feelings stopped being in my body and seemed to be in a ball in the center of the room. (This doesn't really mean anything because as Consciousness there is no time or space, so locations like up, down, in, and out, don't hold true anymore). And when I created a focal point on that ball, it initially seemed to be less intense. Which gave me the opportunity to start writing this post.

Halfway through, the other inhabitants needed my assistance, and I was able to respond with clarity, amusement, and even affection. When I came back to writing, I noticed the shift of focus yet again.

Now, it's all a creation of Consciousness, and whatever you're experiencing is your creation as Consciousness. Even if others are extras in your movie, they're also expressions of Consciousness moving through your soundstage, so to speak.

I'm not spending time resisting other's emotions, or trying to get them out of my space. Consciousness is the highest level of non-resistance, of being so open that negative or denser energies pass right through.

I'm also not trying to change, fix or improve others or the situation, unless out of curiosity something spontaneously occurs to me to play with.

It's a completely different way of navigating reality, beyond our mind's GPS which wants to take us deeper into the density because that's all that it knows. And in so doing, to feel more authentic and expansive joy, passion, love, than you ever thought possible.

How to Create Reality (a simple primer for manifesting as an Infinite Being)

How to Create Reality  (a simple primer for manifesting as an Infinite Being) ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

Reality is created from the non-physical. It's created outside of time and space. It's created beyond thought, although thought has an effect. It starts with an intent, a notion, and is given form through focus. It is created by Consciousness or Source, and which is the spark of life in everything. That includes what we would deem as not alive. It may not have perceivable sentience, but it has Consciousness as it's source.

It is all Consciousness, and we are Consciousness. Our life Essence is Consciousness. We are creating this reality moment to moment.
Source: AndrewDunnPhoto.com

Reality is a spectrum and has different densities to it. What we see, physically feel, seems solid, is one part of the spectrum. There is a part that we sense physically that we can't see, we may describe it as a place's "atmosphere". It's a collective resonance contributed to by all life forms (this can include plants and animals, and historic events).

Emotions are unique to our physical bodies, it's our body's communication system, it's our response to the world and we can create from this part of this spectrum. You can bring your desires into reality by focusing on the feelings they create in you. (We unconsciously bring what we *don't* want into reality by being preoccupied with uncomfortable feelings)!

Thought is another way to manifest into form. What we think about regularly takes on density, Which is why visualization, affirmations, and vision boards seem to work so well. However, if the mind that is using thought to do this is coming from the perception that there's something lacking, something wrong, etc. - that will show up in the manifestation as well. Which is why you may find there is always a loophole or a glitch in the things you try to consciously create!

Reality seems solid and real yet can shift in mysterious, magical ways. It's only part of the program in this physical game, just as time and space are part of the structure. When we create from the emotional or thought levels, it takes time and space to bring things into form. They have to be constructed within physical rules. There's a rhythm to this kind of creation, it takes two years for things to manifest into form from first conception.

When we create as Consciousness, it is very effortless. It is 'outside the box' manifesting. The timeline becomes less fixed and solid. Things can happen instantaneously. Things may seem random. They don't come in predictable ways, they usually show up 'out of left field'.

Bring an open minded intention to Consciousness and the results are more than you can possibly imagine. The qualities of Consciousness are playfulness, curiosity, neutrality. As Consciousness, you are lighthearted and amused. There are no mistakes and nothing is 'bad'. This world is a game, a playground, an experiment.

At this level, we're not 'co-creating', it's the realm of unity, oneness, I-AM ness. Nothing influences You, nothing is more powerful than You.

As you go about your day, shift your awareness from your normal way of thinking. Start to perceive the world as Consciousness, the Essence of who you really are. See everything as your Conscious creation. Notice what changes when you do that.

Give yourself time to notice what that feels like, without trying, without effort. And watch how your life reorganizes around you without your having to do anything to make it happen. Things start to show up in your reality with delightful synchronicity. All you have to do is appreciate and enjoy the process.

Try thing for the next seven days and see what happens!

Test For Consciousness vs. Unconsciousness.

Test for Consciousness vs. Unconsciousness ©2016 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

You would think this would be a no-brainer, whether we're operating consciously or unconsciously but with such a surge of insanity in the world today, it seems time for a helpful reminder.

Here's a test for Consciousness vs. Unconsciousness:

The qualities of Consciousness are - lightness, clarity, amusement, open-heartedness, non-judgement or neutrality, honesty, non-resistance, no effort, acceptance, compassion and loving.  There's more, but you get the drift. Consciousness feels expansive and filled with possibility.
Ripple Effect on Water - by Avenue X at Cicero

The qualities of un-consciousness are - heaviness, negativity, resentful, judgmental, fearful, dishonest, avoidant, hateful, reactive. Unconsciousness feels restrictive and limited.

The thing is, it's not just extremists and fundamentalists that are behaving unconsciously. If you're judging them, reacting to them, and fearful they'll take over the country, then you've gone unconscious as well.

Unconsciousness is a weakened and powerless position. It just seems threatening and powerful because it's so loud. It's chaotic, but chaos has no structure or foundation. It collapses easily.

The irony is, we're powerless over unconsciousness. Powerless in that we'll lose our own power if we try to control it or stop it in others. Rather than obsessing about their unconsciousness, we can notice our own.

We're powerless when we're acting unconsciously, but we regain our power by choosing to operating *as* Consciousness. By shifting our thoughts, returning our focus to our own thoughts and actions.

Each of us is immensely powerful. Not in a dominating way, but internally, in an empowered way - vastly more powerful than bullying and controlling. When we reclaim our power from the outside, when we choose to come from a centered and higher Conscious position, we and infinitely powerful.

When we each do this, it creates a ripple effect into the world. We give permission to others to do the same, we strengthen the collective by contributing our own inner strength.

The Unconscious ones are not the majority. They just seem like it because media loves to cover drama. Humankind is becoming more mature. Just as it's useless to argue with a toddler in the midst of a temper tantrum (and useless to argue with them at a two-year-old's level), it's useless to fight with the unconscious.

Even though you can't give them a time out, you can give your own. Turn off Faux Noise. Take a break from Twitter. Start your day with quiet time or daily pages. Test yourself for Consciousness vs. Unconsciousness. Notice your own thinking throughout the day and redirect it whenever unconscious thoughts bubble up. Laugh at them but don't engage with them. Don't wrestle with your thoughts, dispatch them.

Doing this on a regular basis can shift you out of depression and give you a newfound hope for your own life (and humanity).
Try this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

You Don't Have To Know How (or Even What)

You Don't Have To Know How (or Even What) ©2016

One of our stumbling blocks when it comes to manifesting is that we get stuck with the question of how we are going to do it.

Our dreams and desires seem so out of reach, so beyond us, we don't know how we're going to achieve them.

The problems we are dealing with seem so immense, so insurmountable, we don't know how we're going to overcome them.

We feel so mired in the situation we're in, we only know we don't want to be here, but can't imagine what it would be like to be out of it.
Gotta raise the sails to get there (photo: Zeichner01)

That's okay. You don't have to know how (or even what).

In fact, in some way, not knowing how or what is a good thing.  Our best thinking got us into this, so using the same thinking is only going to create more of the same.

When we are manifesting change, it is a collaboration between the little will and the greater Will. It's a co-creation of ourSelves and Consciousness and our personality.

You just have to set your sights on what you want to manifest. It may be specific, such as a new job or relationship, travel, a house, etc. Being specific is useful, because it gives parameters of the manifestation to materialize.

Setting your sights points you in the right direction, and here is where we trip ourselves up. Then our little will starts furiously paddling towards the desired thing. But we're in a sailboat, in an ocean.

The greater Will is the wind and the ocean current.

Manifestation comes easily and effortlessly when we focus towards what we want, and then we allow for whatever it is that will either carry us there or bring it to us.

Often the How doesn't show up until you've stated your intention, until you've committed to taking inspired action. Stating your intention is setting the direction. Commitment is raising your sails. Allowing is taking up the anchor.

What if you don't know what your intention is? You only know that you're boat is in uncharted waters. You just want to feel better.

Aim towards feeling better. You don't have to know what, or what it looks like. Aim towards the feeling.

People confuse getting out of their own way, with not doing anything. Getting out of your own way means not taking counterproductive actions, like trying to control everything down to the smallest details.

Or they think surrendering to the process means to give up or stop trying. It really means to let go of effort (which blocks creativity).

The little will wants to huff and puff into that mighty sail. That may be why you've tried for years to accomplish something and it never happens.
Let the wind fill your sails (photo: Joni Inkala)

Once you get the knack of all of this, creating your reality becomes great fun.

Even though you are creating everything as Consciousness down to the smallest detail, you're not *controlling* it down to the smallest detail.

Your purpose in life, your purpose on this planet, is to create, to express your creativity. And you're already doing it.

As Consciousness, there are no ethics. To Consciousness, there is no good, no bad. It's equally creative to manifest disasters as it is miracles.

Where do you want to set sail to?

Make It So.

Make It So ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

This weekend we have the Solstice and, for the Northern Hemisphere, a time in nature when things seem to go dormant.  In reality, all the activity is taking place underground.  Seeds are germinating.  Soil mulched in Fall is creating the perfect environment for growth, under Winter's freezing temperatures.

In Nature, the energy of Creation is on the architectural level.  The Devas are planning the next season.  It's a powerful time to set intentions, because you have more oomph than just the New Moon.  You can send your wish list out to be worked on, and you can create through intention your entire next year.

If you do this, then next Spring fasten your seat belts!  You will find your life accelerating at the Equinox, which is when the Devic level connects with the level of form.  If you're co-creating a garden with Nature, this is the time to pull out the seed catalogues and consult with the Deva of your garden.

However, your life is your garden.  Your work is your garden, your family is your garden, the same principles apply.  Pull out your journal and have "staff meetings" with the non-physical.  Or "family meetings".

Just as plants have Devas, wherever there's a gathering of people, a communal focusing, there's an overarching Deva.  Countries have Devas, cities have Devas.  You have a Deva of your business, as well.  You have unseen help in creating your desires.

You don't have to know *how* you're going to create or manifest something.  Devas set that in motion.  In fact you don't even have to know exactly *what* it is you want to manifest.  You can know the feeling.  Happiness, contentment, security, excitement.  Love.

Vision boards are effective if the images provoke emotions.

Devas are the architects of Nature.  When you build a house, it's helpful to have an architect, he'll design something that won't collapse, that will withstand storms and earthquakes.  He'll make it esthetically pleasing, and consider details you wouldn't have thought of.  He'll facilitate it getting made much more quickly than if you sat down to work on your own, or without a plan.

Work in partnership with your Deva, trust they have your best interest at heart.  Have patience, because things will unfold with Divine Timing. You'll be amazed at what gets created, it will be better than you could have possibly manifested on your own!

It's Never Too Late

It's Never Too Late ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

"Youth is wasted on the young." George Bernard Shaw

Time marches on.  People have short attention spans.  Opportunity doesn't knock twice.

We are so pressured to take action NOW.  You have to decide what you want to be when you grow up, before you grow up.  It used to be that college was for discovering what you'd like to do, for trying different classes before you declare a major.  Now college is so expensive, you need to already know your specialty while you're in high school!

You can't make mistakes, you'll never recover from them.  You should have settled down earlier.  You should have stayed single longer.  You should have gone into computers in the 80's, invested in Apple, bought that house, or sold that condo.

If you haven't succeeded by now, you might as well give up.  You've settled.

You can't make changes now, everything you've already created will fall apart, you'll lose everything.

Every single one of these statements is a limiting belief.  It's viewing things from the body/personality perspective.  It's black and white, life and death.

From the awareness as Consciousness, there are no mistakes, and everything happens in perfect timing.  Even better, everything has happened, is happening, there are no lost opportunities.

This is not only not your only lifetime, but it's not the only lifetime you are living NOW.  Every time you decided to go one way. a parallel self split off and went in another direction.  You did accept that job offer, you won the lottery, you lost 50 lbs.  As many parallel pasts are behind you, you have unlimited possibilities in front of you.  You have infinite choices to make.

And it's not even that linear.  All past lives, all future lives, are being experienced at once in Consciousness.

But wait, there's more.  You have never made any bad choices.  You have never missed any opportunities.  Because You are Consciousness, and You've been creating everything perfectly, down to the last detail.

It's when you fight Yourself, you experience conflict.  When you're in disagreement with what is, you're in disagreement with your Self, and feel unhappy.

When you're living your life As Consciousness, it's not about controlling your reality.  It's about letting YOUR Consciousness flow through you.  As you relax into that awareness, everything gets easier.

And quicker.

Oftentimes, when success comes later in life, it's because you finally have let go and relaxed.  This is when people's retirement hobbies turn into billion dollar businesses.  This is when lifelong confirmed singles suddenly get married.  Things show up when you no longer expect them.

And suddenly you start backpedalling.  You're used to waiting, to longing, to not having. You want to be perfectly ready before you take action.  It's never too late, but you also need to Have (own, respond to) your manifestation.  "I'm almost 60 years old, I can't move that fast," is still a body/personality limitation.

It's never too late.  It's always NOW.

So.  Take a deep breath.  Relax into yourself.  Fill yourself with Consciousness.  And go ahead and do it anyway.

Truth & Emotions

(c) 2010 Joan M. Newcomb

One of the things (if not the major thing) that makes this adventure on Playground Earth so fun & yet so challenging is - emotions!

Emotions are your body's communication to You, Essence.  Your body reacts much the same way it did when it was a baby, it cries to let you know it's hungry, tired or needs changing.  As an adult, there are more nuances to your emotions, but it usually drills down to some basic needs.

When You begin to play on a higher awareness level, it's tempting to ignore what your body is saying, because it may slow you down or distract you from your 'spiritual focus'.  Just like a baby, an ignored body just gets louder when ignored.  Listening to your body, responding to it's needs, actually furthers your progress as a cooperative body will take you where you want to go!

If you're an empath, you have an additional challenge because you can feel what others are feeling.  Since none of us as children receive validation for our psychic abilities, our first impression is that all the emotions charging through our space is ours.  I find that others' feelings are more overwhelming to me, and have no basis in what I'm experiencing at the moment.  If you're feeling someone else's intense feelings, send them love and healing energy.  They're not deliberately invading your space, they're just sharing their (albeit uncomfortable) experience with you!

Yes, you are Consciousness creating all of this, *and* You created your body/personality to experience this world through.  Yes, you created everyone else in your hologram, and the hologram is an illusion *and* in your body/personality, you're experiencing it as real.  Everyone else is "real" from your body/personality perspective.  It's only as you shift to the Unity vibration that you can feel the Truth of our connectedness.

As your navigating through this illusion, feelings are your indicator of distortion.  If something causes very intense emotion, there's a lie at work.  You can tell whether an emotion you're feeling is clear or murky.  If it's clear, you feel empowered, energized, awake.  If it's murky, you feel depressed, anguished or even a little crazy.  It's not about positive or negative emotions because they're all just communication.  They're the words your body uses to speak to you, or the music You use to express yourself.  Joy obviously comes from Consciousness, but very clear Anger is a spiritual transformer (it cuts through the lies and limitations).  Fear is always a body level response as your body isn't going to make it out of this lifetime alive!

Stepping into an intense emotion can be a useful navigational technique *if* you pass through to the other side.  It's like jumping waves at the ocean, if a really big one comes along, you can dive right through it.  Some people miss the second part of this technique and get stuck in the emotional level.  Wallowing in misery or foaming at the mouth with rage means you're fighting with the illusions and giving it more power rather than reclaiming power from it!

When you're on the playing field of Earth, you're in direct contact with other players.  When you get tackled it feels very real.  When you're high up in the stands, you can observe yourself and others and see the big picture of the whole game.  It's very exciting but you're not feeling the discomfort of being face down in the mud.  When you're in an airplane overhead, you can see the world and all the little tiny people as your creation.

It's not that other people aren't real, or just cardboard 'extras' in your movie.  Everyone is real at the playing field level, with fascinating storylines all intersecting and playing out simultaneously. You're an Infinite Being and are capable at creating that complexity.  It's not until you're up in the plane that it becomes the illusion that it is.

If you're stiving to be at 'airplane level' the entire time, you're missing the point of being here.  You already *are* airplane level.  You created body/personality and Planet Earth to play in for the sheer joy of feeling physical.  Your point of being here is to feel everything fully, to be fully embodied.  Feel the sun on your face and food in your mouth.  Relish in the pleasure of a bubble bath or sleeping in.  Love people, places and fluffy animals.

This week, feel your way through life.  Notice what feels clear and what feels murky.  Navigate towards clarity, and see what happens!

Body 101: Emotions

©2008 Joan M. Newcomb

With all the fun and games going on in the news nowadays, I thought it would be helpful to revisit a basic topic in the Human Game playbook.

Emotions are body-level communications. As Essence, or Spirit, you are eternally joyful, nothing phases you, and even the most dire circumstances seem mildly amusing to you.

Your physical body communicates to You with it's emotions. Like a little baby that cries when it's sad or needs to be changed, your body is continually sending you messages in order for You to take care of it.

When we start upon a spiritually focused path, we think we need to ignore the body or discount the emotions it produces. Which is the opposite of why we as Spirit (or Essence) chose to be here in the first place.

We're here to experience all the wonderful highs and lows of living in this world, including the body's emotions. Even if we're miserable, the higher part of us is ecstatic (perhaps even more so, because It's sensing *really* low vibrations, so delightfully opposite of Itself)!

Ignoring the body puts it into resistance with us, it will balk at taking us where we want to go, and even get sick (although there's a lot of reasons for getting sick, which is a topic for another ezine).

It's really the personality aspect of us that has ethics about emotions. It's the part that says that it's only okay to have 'good' emotions, and not okay to have 'bad' ones. Not allowing *all* emotions is like not allowing yourself to use all your words. It's okay to use adjectives but not okay to use verbs. Repressing certain emotions pretty much guarantees they'll either seep out in another form, or volcanically explode some time. Letting feelings flow as they come up lessens the intensity of the ones you're usually uncomfortable with.

Being empathic, I'll notice other people's emotions within my body space, although I may not know they're someone else's at first. I can sense when family members are cranky or sad or even hungry! It can be confusing because the intensity of the transmission doesn't depend on their physical proximity. Anyone who's cared for a colicky infant knows how overwhelming it can be when blasted by another's emotions. It feels the same psychically even if the 'blaster' is an adult!

Here are some suggestions for Body-Emotion management:

Not resisting the overwhelming feelings is helpful, although sometimes it's a fine line between not resisting them and being swamped by them. Also, allowing your own feelings is different than letting your emotions drive your car. You can have your feelings without being your feelings. They can inform you that you need to take care of yourself in some way, but you needn't succumb to road rage!

It's helpful to be aware that body takes things very seriously and views things in black and white. At the core of body's considerations is it's own survival, since it's not going to make it out of this lifetime alive! Spirit or Essence is immortal and thus has bemused detachment about such things.

Keeping focused in the present moment is reassuring to your body. Too far in the future creates anxiety, too far in the past creates depression, as the body only operates right here and now. In highly stressful situations, take it one moment at a time, because moment-to-moment, everything is okay.

Focus on extreme self-care. Besides the basics of enough sleep, good food, enough exercise, make sure to treat your body as the adorable and precious asset it is to you. Give it bubble baths, massages, chocolate or whatever else delights it and makes it feel special. You can coax your body through tough times this way.

And, finally, focusing only on *your* reality is helpful, too, since you can't control or change someone else's. They're capable and immortal beings, as well, and are (as Essence) really enjoying their dilemma. Don't match the group and you'll be just fine.
