Hover Above The Holidays

Hover Above The Holidays ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

We in a potentially contentious holiday season, with things seeming more inflammatory than usual. What’s the best way to get through them without napalming bridges between family and friends?

When you find yourself at the dinner table with racist and sexist remarks flying, I invite you to take a mental step back and shift your perspective.

You don’t necessarily have to leave the room (although I’ll share a useful technique later that uses that action). Just imagine hovering above the table, like you’re watching a movie.

Because in reality, you *are* watching a movie. When people go unconscious, as they do at the holidays, they start spouting lines and playing roles that don’t reflect who they really are as Essence. You’ll see the worst of Uncle Kevin or your sister, because they’re as triggered as you are in family settings at the holiday. They’re just most used to operating without awareness than you are. (I’m presuming, since you’re reading this).

You are Consciousness, experiencing life in a physical form that has emotions and feels sensations. You are bigger than the story that is happening at the moment.

Your relatives that proudly trace their lineage to Robert E. Lee and spout Faux News headlines, are also Consciousness. As entangled in the story as they seem, they’re more than the characters they’re playing.

Hovering above allows you to detach from the intensity of the scenario. It helps you be able to respond rather than react. You may even discover your heart opening, and find these nut jobs endearing.

When you’re not engaged in reality as it seems to be, you get to experience reality as it really is. You may find yourself having deep insights and revelations, when you’re viewing things from a higher perspective.

Now if the festivities get too much to handle and you want to leave way earlier than it would b socially acceptable to do so (and this works even if you’ve just gotten out of your car and haven’t even gone into the house or restaurant yet), you can play a little game I call Parallel Universes.

As Consciousness, we’re experiencing reality on a multitude of levels, and we’re actually experiencing all possibilities at once. It’s just our body-personalities that feel like they’re going along a linear timeline and being in only one version of reality with a set script and inevitable outcome.

As Consciousness you can shift your storyline by stepping through invisible doors to different ones. Now you aren’t going to step through an invisible door and teleport to a white sand beach in Thailand. But you can step into a different version of a family gathering.

So if it’s about to be World War III at your dinner table, you can get up to go to the restroom or the kitchen and imagine stepping through invisible doors where it’s unfolding differently, where it’s al harmony and love (some open ended intention). Leaving the room you’re actually passing through a portal anyway - every door and archway can be one. And when you walk back in you may find a reality where people are getting along.

This also works if you haven’t even gone into the gathering yet. Stepping through invisible doors from your car to the front door, you can shift being in a different storyline altogether. You can discover an Uncle Kevin (or sister) who’s newly in recovery and not drinking, for instance.

It doesn’t work if you set a specific intention like, they’re not drinking or they’re not racisit anymore because that’s coming from your personality that wants to control. When you step through doors with open ended intentions what results is something your mind can’t preconceive. It’s beyond your wildest imagination.

Go into the holidays with a sense of playful curiosity, what will happen if I do this? I wonder what will it be like if I hover above?

Play with this, and let me know what happens!

What Are Emotions? A 5D Perspective

What Are Emotions? A 5D Perspective ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

One of my clients was sharing about her Consciousness shift and it brought into perspective my multileveled awareness of emotions.

At a basic level, emotions are simply a body’s language to communicate to You, Consciousness. It fundamentally expresses itself the same way, and for the same reasons, as it did when it was an infant. Your body cries when it’s tired, hungry, uncomfortable, in pain, frightened, etc. That doesn’t mean you’re crying all the time as an adult, but it’s crying out in some way for your attention.

When we’re paying attention to our body, feeding it right, letting it sleep when it wants to, tending to it’s needs, it’s basically happy. But if we’re off in the future with great potential creations, our body feels abandoned, thinks we’re leaving permanently, it is sure we’re dying. When our attention is on the past, it is a fascinating exploration to Consciousness but the body feels mired in it’s immovability of regret, resentment, mourning, and loss.

That’s at the basic level. The next level is when you take into consideration everyone else’s emotions. As Consciousness we’re all naturally empathic, telepathic, kinesthetic, and/or clairvoyant. So we’ll tune into what others are feeling and think it’s ours. Or even if we can discern it’s someone else’s, it can be hard to detach from it. Other people’s emotions seem to magnify our own.

Old school solutions to these problems were to detach from our own feelings, discipline ourselves not to feel them or ignore them. Many religious practices included denying the body food or comfort as a way to become more spiritual. Which kind of misses the point of being here. What you find out when you die is that you were spirit all along, and your reason for incarnating was to experience being in a physical body.

Being present to the body by being in the present moment, is a more effective way to ‘be more spiritual’. When you’re in present time, that is, your attention is withdrawn from the past or the future, you’re able to fully occupy the body, and then it’s really happy. The heaviness of the past is gone, the uncertainty of the future has disappeared, it knows it’s alive and being taken care of.

We think we don’t like being in present time because it’s too limiting. Our mind, which is our GPS, is programmed to always be going somewhere (and checking past maps for how to get there). But as Consciousness, the present moment is infinitely expansive. True transformation is initiated in the Now.

What I’m finding with my own Consciousness shift, is that my old ways of being in the Now have me tuned into others, and a lot of the time I’m swimming through quite a lot of emotional frequencies. My old ways of detaching seem uncompassionate and incongruent with the increasing interconnectedness that is a result of our collective Evolution that is occurring.

When I play with my Consciousness techniques, everything reorganizes into a completely different experience. It’s like going from old style animation to CGI. I feel like I effortlessly refocus into being more fully embodied and yet extremely clear and alert (without having to spend hours 'cleaning energy', 'getting unstuck', 'removing blocks', etc.).

And it's not about getting to 5D and staying there. As Consciousness we move between levels without judgment.

What about others in our hologram? What about all the emotions being flung about out there?

This morning I woke extremely early and was instantly aware of a lot of uncomfortable feelings. I felt a lot of grief and physical discomfort. My first thought was that it was me, it's been a tough week, physically and emotionally. So I stewed in it for awhile, until I became aware that I was feeling others emotions. So I looked at my clock, to figure out time zones, since I have loved ones 3,000 miles away on either side of the globe from me. A little while later it occurred to me that it was actually the people in this apartment I'm in, which should have been obvious but at 3:25am I assumed they were asleep.

So then I used a Consciousness Technique for centering in the hologram, and discovered that all the feelings stopped being in my body and seemed to be in a ball in the center of the room. (This doesn't really mean anything because as Consciousness there is no time or space, so locations like up, down, in, and out, don't hold true anymore). And when I created a focal point on that ball, it initially seemed to be less intense. Which gave me the opportunity to start writing this post.

Halfway through, the other inhabitants needed my assistance, and I was able to respond with clarity, amusement, and even affection. When I came back to writing, I noticed the shift of focus yet again.

Now, it's all a creation of Consciousness, and whatever you're experiencing is your creation as Consciousness. Even if others are extras in your movie, they're also expressions of Consciousness moving through your soundstage, so to speak.

I'm not spending time resisting other's emotions, or trying to get them out of my space. Consciousness is the highest level of non-resistance, of being so open that negative or denser energies pass right through.

I'm also not trying to change, fix or improve others or the situation, unless out of curiosity something spontaneously occurs to me to play with.

It's a completely different way of navigating reality, beyond our mind's GPS which wants to take us deeper into the density because that's all that it knows. And in so doing, to feel more authentic and expansive joy, passion, love, than you ever thought possible.

Don't Apologize For Being Neutral

Don't Apologize For Being Neutral ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

There is a lot of emotional and mental noise in the world today. Things are really polarized. And there's a big message out there that if you aren't upset about something, there's something wrong with you!

Often, however, the more dramatic the scenario, the less likely it is to be true. It's more likely a distraction from something else really going on. Or is simply an indicator of a distorted perception.

97% of us grew up in dysfunctional homes. Many of us suffer from PTSD. When triggered, there's going to be a very, *big*, reaction. And, wow, there's a lot to react to in the news.

But how does it feel to react to all that's going on? How does it feel to be in the thick of it?

I find it really frustrating and painful. I had a lot of sleepless nights this time last year. It reminded me of the misogynism and narcissism of my childhood. My response, when I got old enough, was to fight back. In that scenario, I think I was the only one to leave without feeling like a victim, with a sense of power because I could stand up.

Yeah. That's a pattern that's not in present time.

My expanded perspective now, as Consciousness, is that anything that is negating, anything that is dramatic, is not the Truth. It is an entanglement of density. It emanates from bodies and personalities and is disconnected from Consciousness.

When I'm responding as Consciousness, I feel neutral. I don't get emotionally caught up in the stories. I have a bigger picture viewpoint. I see the greater Light of Consciousness shining in the world and exposing that which has been hidden in shadows. I see uncomfortable patterns rising to the surface to be cleared.

There's a valuable tool I learned when working with families and friends of alcoholics, and it's called 'detachment'. It's being able to detach, to not be emotionally affected by the alcoholic's behavior. When you stop responding to the chaos created by someone actively drinking, you can clearly see how you can adjust your own behavior. You can learn how to step back and let them have the consequences of their actions. It gives you the energy to take care of yourself instead.

Now, folks who are embroiled in the drama are going to get pissed off if you're not in the trenches with them. They'll accuse you of being disassociated, or frigid, or 'on the other side'.

But when you respond as Consciousness, you're able to not get drawn in. You don't need to apologize for being neutral.

Being neutral doesn't mean not having any feelings at all. But the feelings are even, not turbulent. Mostly as Consciousness, I feel compassionate, and even amused if it's really batshit crazy.

I've even felt sad about some situations. But as Consciousness I know things can get reversed in an instant. As Consciousness, I know that *everyone* is Consciousness, even if they're not currently acting like it.

As Consciousness I know that this lifetime happens in a blink of an eye. This, too, shall pass. They, too, shall pass. Things, and people, can change.

Responding, from neutral, is retaining your power as Consciousness. No one has authority over your internal space. You can make empowered choices as Consciousness. And that leads to an incredible sense of freedom.

Where is your nose?

©2011 Joan M. Newcomb

It's been an intense time for many people.  We are collectively going through an Emergence.  You can see it as our Consciousness vibration raising, or a deeper integration with our Expanded Selves.

What doesn't match this higher vibration is becoming unbearable.  It is showing up differently in each of our lives.  For some it is long-term relationships with friends or family as we've outgrown the patterns we used to share.  For some it is their career, either feeling stuck in their job, or being laid off and unable to find another in their industry (because in reality their work is not in integrity with their Purpose).  And around the globe you can see governments breaking down that are stuck in old, restrictive patterns.

There's a lot going on to distract you from your own growth.

Even if you're part of a group that is in a similar expansion - say you're among the unemployed, or you live in Egypt - you still have your own unique process.  The group can be supportive, if it's moving forward or raising vibration.  It can be limiting if it's representing stuckness.

It can be confusing to know what is your own information and energy amongst everyone else.  Here's some clues -

Your own emotions feel clear to you.  If it's your anger, it feels clear and pure.  If you're joyous or happy, you're on the right path, connected with Source.

If you feel distorted, disconnected, highly dramatic or confused, you're energy is mingling with others or bumping up against external restrictions.

Energetically, there's some techniques for maintaining separation when in groups or in collective situations.  Have the sense of 'owning your space', your energy bubble or aura.  Just a sense of ownership can define your awareness from other's reality.  You can also imagine being a 'half step above' other's vibratory levels.  A fun way to do this is to imagine your aura is a different color than everyone else.  (Teenagers with their IPods do this musically).

It's also helpful to know what is your business and what's not.  What goes on in someone else's life is none of your business - even if you're a spouse or sibling or child.  They're Infinite Beings, capable of creating their own reality.  They have their own connection to Source.  They have their own Guardian Angels.  (This is great for dealing with ex-relationships and for young adult children.  They get to have the consequences of their own actions, too).

Figure out, where is your nose?  If your nose is into someone else's life, you get to experience their craziness, too.  Does that benefit you? Does it help you resolve your own issues? Is it moving you forward on your path? Notice where your nose is, and turn it towards your own life.

When you're driving, you have a tendency to steer where you're looking.  If you're looking towards the dark side of things, you're steering yourself there.  If you're looking at your neighbor's life, you're steering into their lane.  Look in the direction where you are going, you'll avoid any potholes in the road ahead.

So, this week notice if you're feeling clear or crazy.  Notice if you're thinking about solutions to your own issues or about other people's Stuff.  If you keep your eye on the destination you desire, you're more likely to end up there!

Detachment, Space, Separations and Unity

©2008 Joan M Newcomb

I have many tools and techniques in my spiritual toolkit from different origins. There seems to be a thread of Truth through every belief system and practice. It's our individual journey to discover it for ourselves.

In my original training, I learned about space - we each have our individual auras and to be able to create our own reality we needed to separate others' energies from our own. It sometimes had a bit of a rigid interpretation which was difficult to maintain. After all, how do you separate your energy from your newborn? How can you fall in love if you don't allow merging of space?

Then I learned about detachment - how to detach from a loved one's crazy making behavior in order to regain a sense of sanity.

Most recently I've been learning about holographic reality that everyone is your projection or reflection, so they're not real or really there. They're just extras in your personal movie. It's a little harder to wrap one's head around this idea, especially if you're psychic and can feel people's thoughts and feelings from 3,000 miles away.

When you consider that this is all a game created by Consciousness, to experience the opposite of itself, then every player at their essence is Consciousness, is One, and the individual is just an illusion created for the fun of knowing what diversity feels like.

However, we can't get in touch with our inner sense of Oneness if we're distracted by others who are playing different versions of the Human Game. So this is where detachment and separations comes in helpful.

Allowing others to have their own life experiences and the consequences of their actions is beneficial for their own growth and your own sanity. If you never allow your toddler to fall down, they'll never learn to walk. The same goes for adult children, siblings, other relatives, and friends. If you're focused on the way others are living their lives, you'll never live your own.

I learned detachment when my children were young, because they lived every other week with their father. I decided that what went on in his household was none of my business, which gave me the space to focus on creating my own home life with them on the weeks they were with me. I also realized that each of my children were wise and immortal Beings with their individual connection to Source, inherently knowing the direction of their personal path in this life time. This helped me a lot as they grew up and made choices about creating their own life stories. And it's given me joy to see them surprise me with the things they do create!

The other day I had a conversation with my mother who has a very different worldview than I do. She's a staunch Republican (Conservative), a life long Protestant Christian, and a retired information officer for the CIA. We're lightyears apart and yet have a good relationship based on respecting each other's space -- although she wouldn't use those words.

There are others whose lives are full of chaos and unhappiness and this is where I practice detachment. I spent many years of pain and depression until I learned to step away from their reality. You can't change, fix or control another choice of reality, you can only contribute to it or enable it to stay the same. Detaching allows you to separate You from them.

There are different energy techniques for separation, you can visualize you being in your bubble (aura) and them being in theirs, you can imagine their energy that's in your space flowing back to them (and vice versa). I like the Serenity Prayer for helping me to determine what's mine and what's not (Italics are my comments):

Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change
(other people, places and things)
Courage to change the things I can
My attitude and focus
And the wisdom to know the difference
me - not me - me - not me!

Serenity is the feeling you gain when you let go people and their effect on you.

My invitation today is to notice your where your attention is and how you feel when you're focused outside of your own reality!
