Staying Present In Traumatic Times

Staying Present In Traumatic Times ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

The last couple weeks were somewhat traumatic. First, my 15 year old dog had a seizure and possible stroke, and the next week a family member who has COPD (possibly emphysema) and MCI (mild cognitive problems) went into the hospital with pneumonia. It took be back to a time I've written about a lot, 2011-2013, with our other dog who had cancer and then neurological problems, and my mother who had Alzheimer's and lung cancer.

This recent period felt like a "pop quiz" reminder of what I learned then. Or perhaps continuing education, as there's always new awareness to be gleaned.

2010-2013 was a long, arduous process of ultimately midwifing my mother (my dog, and later my father) back to Spirit. Each of them had their own exiting process, each had different circumstances and choices to be made.

It's a shock when it first happens, and it's easy to feel that things are out of control. When my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's (right as we had finished paying off the dog's cancer surgery), it was a breakdown in my own reality as well.

However, for the most part, I remembered to keep a higher awareness, while external circumstances seemed to crumble. It would have been easy to have collapsed in a heap, but reframing reality helped. This was *not* a crisis but an event.
Joan and Dorothy, Washington DC, Sept. 2012

I reminded myself that I was powerless over events and other people's reactions to them, but not necessarily my own. I had choice over my actions (and response as best I could). I worked hard at being mindful, researching and asking for advice before making important decisions.

I also learned to not resist what is. I thought I could combat the Alzheimer's, get her into a memory program, give her the right nutrition, do my energetic healing, etc. But it was like trying to stop a river with outstretched fingers. When she was diagnosed with cancer, and the initial treatment didn't work, it shifted my focus to quality of life (rather than longevity).

It would have been a waste of energy to resist the little things, becoming my mother's parent, her eventually confusing me with her older sister who died in 1997.

It was important to stay focused on the important things (creating moments of joy for my mother). And to stay in present time, as I was back in my old home town that I left in 1981 and interacting with some people who hadn't talked to me in ten years.

I had to stay the grown up, the one responsible for life and death decisions, and do the next indicated thing that was best for all concerned.

This is all coming back to me as I observe my other dog age, and as this family member is navigating this part of their life path. It's different now, I'm only peripherally in this family member's life, and this current dog isn't doing so bad for 105 in people years.

We all have (at least) two parts to ourselves. The physical personality that reacts to situations and runs off of memories tinged with emotions. And the greater aspect of ourselves, Consciousness, that encompasses the bigger picture.

When you see things from that bigger picture viewpoint, and can let yourself as Consciousness be the one that makes decisions and takes action, it's so much easier to get through painful and traumatic times.

You're not in denial about what's happening, you can still be grieving the loss of what it was like before, but you're able to hold a bigger space, respond with greater inner authority.

We're in traumatic times even if our daily lives are going well. The world seems to be falling apart, when it's really Consciousness reorganizing reality.

Shift your perspective to Consciousness and you will inwardly know that all is very, very well.

How NOT To Be Tossed and Turned By The Vortex

How NOT to be Tossed And Turned By The Vortex ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

I came across a video of a piece of fabric, dancing in the vortex of a circle of fans.  It looks human, in the way it twists and twirls.  It looks how we feel, as we engage with different energies in this physical realm.

Sometimes we feel buffered about by the varying influences, like a leaf reeling in the wind. We're affected by these circles, our family, our friends, our work environment. Those are the most noticeable ones. But we're also reacting to wider circles, our neighborhood, city, or region. And we resonate with even bigger ones, our religions, political parties, culture, and country.

These energy systems are multidimentional, not only spanning distance, around the globe, but also time. We engaging in historical patterns and responding to ones forming into the future.

But the thing that struck me, as I watched the fabric swirl around, is that it was missing Consciousness. It looked alive, but it wasn't.

When you are feeling tossed and turned by 'Life', your body/personality is the aspect that feels that way.  It's missing it's connection with You.

If that fabric were a dress worn by a dancer, she would be spinning and swaying, but you would notice that she's inwardly anchored, even when her feet aren't on the floor.

Dancers aren't performing random movements, they're enacting choreography. Even if it's improv, they are reflecting years of training.

Staying centered within yourself, You can dance through your various circles without having to participate in the denser emotional aspects of them. You can love your family and friends and not be driven crazy by them. You can maintain professionalism at work regardless of how dysfunctional the culture may be.

When you're grounded into your body, then you are in charge of actions. You can steer your kayak away from whirlpools, out of eddies and into the greater Flow of wellbeing.

You can do this in all sorts of ways. You can practise mindfulness. You can walk barefoot also called 'earthing'. You can visualize an energy connection to the center of the earth, and imagine earth energy flowing up through your feet into your body.

These are techniques that have been around for millennia, for as long as we've been manifesting into bodies on this planet. They are still very effective, but may require 'upgrading' as our Collective vibration increases.

I'm playing with the concept of connecting wirelessly to the planet, and anchoring into key points of the body.  It's a way of being in the planet and not of the planet. It's strong, light, and flexible. If you want to know more, go here.

Play with these ideas this week, see which ones fit for you, and notice how it transforms your experience in the world!

Autocorrect Manifestations

Autocorrect Manifestations ©2015 Joan Newcomb

My computer runs autocorrect on everything I write, sometimes changing words *as* I type them. Some days I spend more time correcting the darned autocorrect than writing!

When you begin the process of conscious manifestation, it often seems like the Universe has it's own autocorrect. What you ask for shows up as something slightly different. It can be comical, or irritating.

If you're balding you may ask for more hair, and it begins growing out of your ears. You work on manifesting money, and it comes as an insurance check paying the mechanic for fixing your car.

Creating your reality is more an art than a science.

Resisting the autocorrect just creates more effort and slows down the manifesting process. Go with the flow, making slight adjustments, and you steer in the right direction.

For instance, I'm now grateful for slow cars that get in front of me when I'm driving. They can protect me from speeding tickets!

Stepping back and looking at this from the perspective of Consciousness, you can see or sense the neverending flow moving into form. It is always loving. It is always light.

As it moves into the lower atmosphere, it encounters distortions. What originated as pure intention manifests in the shadows as something murky.

"Autocorrect" is really your gallery of assumptions and expectations. It assumes what you're about to create, but it doesn't know the full story. It bases its 'corrections' on previous usage or manifestations.

Yet, if you turned off autocorrect, and completely received the pure intention, what shows up may be more than you bargained for! A winning lottery ticket brings all sorts of new challenges, from paying taxes on it to fielding requests from friends and relatives.

What are we really asking for, anyway? Are we really asking for more hair, more money, more love? When you step back and look at it, you can see all these requests going from form to Consciousness, and they're all seeking more light, more freedom, more wholeness.

As Consciousness we are focusing into form, creating our creations, like sunlight onto seedlings. It is US coming into density.

What happens with our requests is that we are creating expections for how we want to receive Source Energy, what it's supposed to look like when it shows up. Our specifications are limitations.

And, sometimes they repel what we're asking for!

There are lots of ways to change this pattern. You can meditate so you can receive more clearly. You can de-energize stuck pictures, either clairvoyantly or through something like EFT or EMDR. You can run frequencies such as Christforce Gold or use my waterfall technique to raise your body's ability to have more. Or use Consciousness Techniques to create instantaneous change.

The Universe isn't autocorrecting you. And it isn't something coming to you from outside of yourself. YOU are Consciousness, flowing into form. Your body/personality is the form that you created to experience physical reality. You're really both, dancing with yourself.

Shift your perspective to yourself AS Consciousness, and you're in agreement with all that manifests, imperfectly perfect in your life.

Play with this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

Do You Feel Like An Imposter? (Don't We All)?

Do You Feel Like An Imposter? (Don't We All)? ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

Have you ever felt like you didn't belong, or were just "faking it until you make it"? Maybe you were promoted at work, or won a prize, something you felt absolutely certain that you didn't deserve.

We've all been there, and some of the most high-achieving of us feel it more than others. Will Smith confessed on a talk show that he wakes up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I've known independently wealthy people who need to have enough money for an entire year in their bank account, when someone else feels financially confident with a monthly paycheck.
Huntley Gordon from a scene still for the 1918 Vitagraph silent drama The Beloved Imposter
The Beloved Imposter

If you grew up in a dysfunctional family, you may have felt uncomfortable when you started school. All the other kids seemed to have normal parents.  Or you may have been the only one in your family to break out of the restrictive patterns, they may have felt something was wrong with you, because you were the only one to not end up in jail, but graduated high school and went to college.

As you evolve as Consciousness, embodying more of your Essential Energy, you start to feel expansive and wonderful. It feels so heady, it may make you question if this is real. You're so used to feeling less than, there must be something wrong with you if you feel more than!

Anita Moorjani had an out of body experience when she was dying of cancer. Her organs had shut down and the doctor told her husband she had 'hours' to live. Instead, she woke up, and within a week all her tumors had disappeared (they insisted on putting her through chemotherapy 'just in case').  She came back in with the awareness that we are Magnificent, and that her cancer was caused by her own fears.

Magnificent is a great description for how it feels as Consciousness. I've experienced it in body and I've felt expansive, limited, and immense Love. It's powerful as in empowering or potent, but not dominating. It's an awareness that I'm loved and special, and you are, too.

We feel like an imposter when our insides don't match our outsides.  And, our insides DON'T match our outsides!! Our body is limited, it is a dense collection of vibrating atoms, within a collection of dense patterns, within this three-D full immersion Wii game.  WE are Consciousness, unlimited, beyond time and space. Our insides is vaster than our outer appearance.

And it's okay. This planet of Density and Effort is meant to be dichotomous. It is a planet of opposites.  We come here to feel all the feelings, which include discomfort, pain, sadness, grief as well as ecstacy and joy and happiness and love.

If you can just hold that inner awareness, that inner knowing, of who You truly are, you can effortlessly navigate the rockiest of paths or the most unfortunate circumstances.

Relax into your knowingness, and see what happens. Try this for seven days and your world will transform!

God Has No Personality and What Pain Has To Do With It.

God Has No Personality ©2015 Joan M Newcomb

I try to talk about spiritual subjects without using religious references.  I even try not to use the word spiritual. I've been talking a lot about Consciousness lately because, to me, it's a more accurate description of who we are, both individually and collectively.

I was raised in a religious family. We said prayers at every meal, at bedtime, and went to Church every Sunday. For my mother it was an internal experience, and she lived her faith. My father did his best to show our religion externally.
"God" by Moyan Brenn on Flickr

My own definition of God went through many incarnations, peeling away the layers to what Essence felt like.  My biggest stumbling block was the Christian 'God The Father' which, in my experience was not compassionate nor benevolent. My biggest breakthrough was calling it Universe. My prayers were conversations while driving.  I always began with 'hey, U'!

For years I'd also journal my conversations, writing my questions and then scribing what I perceived was the response.  The replies weren't verbal, but more impressions. It was frustrating because I'd list all my complaints and the answers would be very benign. I realized that my grievances were like standing in front of a tree with my face pressed into the bark, and God was showing me a forest, with many pathways.

At some point, the Universe itself became a feeling, an impression. When I shifted my attention, the world around me changed. Colors became brighter, everything came into sharp focus.

There's been several spiritual awakenings, when I'd be enveloped in Love. In Love with the Universe, with my life, with myself. I'd still have the same problems, but I knew all would be very, very well. No matter what drama was going on, I remain centered. The longest this lasted was for nine months.  It would be wonderful to tip over into it again permanently.

One time I was struggling, and resisting the concept of an external God. After all, I AM Spirit, I AM my Inner Being. The answer came to me that it doesn't matter how you interact with the Divine. You can have God the Father, God the Authority, God outside of yourself, God inside, many Gods, and no God/s at all. It's all go(o)d.

So now I dance with Consciousness. With the awareness of my Self as Consciousness, knowing this is all a creation of Consciousness.  And this morning, my journaling started to veer off into personality level narrative. Painful emotions arose.  I shifted my perspective, and felt Consciousness flow through my body. Pain dissipated.

This stayed with me as I walked my dog. What I noticed was an impassive appreciation for the world.  We created this reality to experience the opposite of who we really are. Emotions are part of that experience. Bodies are our vehicles to feeling this reality. Personality is what we create in order to be visible to others and distinguishable by others.

If it has emotions and a personality, it's a physical level projection.

Consciousness has no personality. Consciousness feels immense, and clear. The body delights in Consciousness, there's an absence of pain when fully embodied. And yet pain comes up in the process of embodiment. As we come into form, we feel more. When you shine more light into a place, it reveals emotions and physical sensations. I am now finding that pain disappears when fully Conscious.

What does pain have to do with it? Pain makes the body feel real. Pain is a physical reaction. We've used pain to anchor us here. Pain is a reminder to focus within. When your fully focused within, pain goes away. Or, your definition of pain shifts, and it doesn't feel painful, or bother you any more.  It's not denying, resisting, or ignoring it. It's bringing full awareness to it.

Becoming fully conscious requires anchoring into the body. You miss the point of being here by leaving the body or going outside it in order to be more spiritual. You're already Spirit, you don't need to be more so. You just need to be more here.

You can get there by focusing inward, by connecting to to 'anchor points' within form. You can anchor in the lower abdomen. You can anchor in your solar plexus. You can anchor deep into your heart. You can anchor in the center of your brain. You will find, as you bring your full attention into any or all of these places, that it's quite spacious inside you. These anchor points aren't fixed, they go on and on, deeper and deeper. You are still here, and also there.

Play with all of this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

Why Fire Your Spirit Guides?!?

Why Fire Your Spirit Guides?!? ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

Much has been written about connecting to your spirit guides or guardian angels. It's reassuring to know that there's unseen help.  People have experienced miraculous, real world results when working with invisible helpers.

We are born with some of them, and we collect others along the way. Some are more active than others.  If we had rough childhoods, we may have had a mariah step in to handle things.  If we created a business, chances are there's a deva overseeing it.

It's empowering to actively communicate with them, to make requests and receive information.  You can tune into them through meditation, or journaling, or just talking aloud when you're driving (both hands on the wheel so it doesn't look like you're on your phone)!

When I started having regular 'staff meetings' with my business devas, my income skyrocketed.  I've also used them for health related issues with some success.  Pretty much any area of your life can be improved with support from Spirit.

So *why* on earth would you want to fire your Spirit Guides?
Some guides are from the past and are outdated

Here are a few reasons:

1. When they limit or hold you back.  Childhood Mariahs are protectors when you're little but as an adult you don't need a nanny.  They are lovely beings, but they still see you as a child.

2. When you've entered a new phase of growth.  We'll call in guides to assist us when we're at certain levels of awareness.  When we advance in Consciousness, we need ones that match us at our higher vibration.

3. When you've changed directions.  Angels, guides, devas, all have a specific focus or area of attention.  If you finish medical school and suddenly realized you only did it to please your family of doctors and your real passion is law, you may need a different team of helpers.

How do you fire your guides?

You don't have to go all Donald Trump on them. I've found a wonderful serenity and neutrality when working with the other side. They don't need drama, just respect.

1. Communicate with them directly.  Have a little chat in whatever way works for you.  Writing it down helps validate the communication for you because you can read it afterwards.  Prayer and meditation gives your communication a focused intent.  I like talking outloud with my guides, when I'm driving, or walking my dog. (You can wear your headset plugged into your phone that's turned off, if you're worried that your neighbors will think you're looney).

2. Bring them into the present moment.  Imagine the energy of present time, or a calendar with today's date. This is especially effective with childhood guides. Somtimes they will automatically disappear. They can go off to help another kid.

3. Release their contract. We make agreements with our invisible friends. You can upgrade or release their contract and they will go on their way.

Now what?

You may want to take some time to reclaim your own energy, be with yourself in your new space.  Or you might be ready to hire new staff to help you!

1. Specifically ask for what you want.  Because you will get it. Again, do this in a way that works best for you.  If you prefer ritual or formality, you can light candles, say prayers or affirmations, write something and put it on your vision board.

2. Be open for something different. When I upgraded my business devas, I'd been use to formal staff meetings.  My new group didn't work that way. They were like a bunch of mellenials with iPhones that would spontaneously "psychic text" inspiration to me.

3. Take Action. Some angels will go out and find you clients while you sit on your couch eating popcorn. But more than likely you'll get intuitive hits or opportunities that require you to take action. We're the ones in physical bodies, so we have to act in order to make things real.

Try these suggestions and fasten your seatbelt, because your life is about to accelerate!

Transcending Fear

Transcending Fear ©2014 Joan M Newcomb

Two of my friends just returned from the East Coast.  One stayed in a cabin in New York that was over 100 years old, another stayed in a similar place in Vermont, that I think was even older.

What life must have been like back then.  No electricity, no running water.  No neighbors for miles.  You could possibly go without seeing another person for months.  A letter could take even longer to reach you.  New traveled slowly.

Even though people lived in survival then,  your primary focus was growing, making, or getting enough food to sustain you, staying safe from animals or outlaws, there was time for reading, reflection, creative arts.

Now we take so much for granted, a roof over our heads, groceries in our fridge, it seems we have to artificially manufacture things to freak us out.  We like thriller movies and amusement park rides that make us scream.

Faux News doesn’t really communicate current events, it uses language and distorted ideas to transmit fear.

When I look at this energetically, I see the energy of fear pulling the focus away from Consciousness and towards form. Really, it’s survival energy. It looks like the original intent is to remind folks to take care of physical needs, to not get so caught up in prayer and meditation (things that connect you to Spirit) that you forget to eat and sleep.

It’s distorted now in that it disconnects you from your higher awareness, so that you’re running in circles thinking you’re gonna die.

The irony is that, disconnect from Spirit, you do feel like you’re dying.  When spirit leaves the body, what happens to body?

With the energy of survival moving into form, towards density, and the energy of Consciousness moving towards Source, it may seem like conflict.  But it’s actually in harmony.  Breathing in, breathing out, moving in, moving up.  Except it’s happening simultaneously.  Kinda like the circular breathing needed for bagpipes or didgeridoos.

When we go through growth periods, it can feel like we are dying. We are expanding in our awareness, we are growing as Consciousness.  But our limitations are disintegrating.  Aspects of our personality are passing away.

As we are gaining in expansiveness, we can still stay connected to our bodies.  We can assure them with comfort and affection.  We can give them naps, bubble baths, chocolate… we are not abandoning the physical realm, we are taking our body/personality vehicles along with us in this adventure.

Perhaps fear isn’t to be transcended but transmuted.  The energy of survival can produce creativity and abundance.  Embrace it, take ownership of it.  Navigate it’s white water with the seniority and skill as the magnificent, all knowing, Conscious Being that you are.

Try this for a week and see what happens!

Being Bigger

Being Bigger ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

We are in a time of expansion, and we are all being called to be bigger.  That means, greater than our problems, larger than our labels, more than what we think of ourselves to be.

The other day I had a profound revelation.  My original metaphysical training taught that we are Spirit in a body.  The focus was on grounding the body so it could handle Your higher vibration.  Like electricity running through a lamp.

That alone seems enormous.  That as Spirit we are infinite, all knowing, and we're squeezing into this itty bitty body of density and effort.  And outside the body radiates our aura.  So it comes from the inside and radiates out from it.

Now, over time, I've evolved to greater awarenesses about this.  For instance, this isn't your only lifetime just as this isn't your only body.  As Consciousness there is no time or space, so all of your lifetimes are happening at once.

I also see that body isn't separate from Spirit.  It's a spectrum of vibration, with Consciousness being the most expansive and diffuse, focusing into body being the most dense and concentrated.

Then I heard, 'we are a being with a body inside'.

Think about it.  WE are a BEING with a body INSIDE.  Imagine your awareness expanding around your body.  YOU are the energy, and within you have created a denser form.

It's shifted the perspective from up and down (Spirit is up, coming down into body), or in and out (you're in your body or out of your body).   You don't have to squeeze yourself into form, you are not just inhabiting the body,  you encompass it.

You can perceive from within it, as in viewing out from the eyes, feeling from within the form, but you can also perceive the edges of your aura or energy field.

It's not that you are everything and everything is you, even though at the most expanded sense of Consciousness you are.  I am noticing definitions - for instance, I will feel the emotional state of someone else 3,000 or 9,000 miles away (and this will be verified by their email or facebook post).  I am not in their reality, but am feeling their reaction to what's going on for them.

How does this change of perspective change things? I'm noticing things show up in my experience having a greater connection to themes I'm dealing with.  The German Shepherd next store will lunge over the fence when I'm processing issues around boundaries, anger, aggression. An ambulance will show up for the elderly lady down the street right after a discussion with my husband about our mothers dying.  Nothing is random any more, it only appears because there is a connection, because something is clearing.

What would it be life for you if you were bigger than your problems?  How would it feel if you were the most powerful person inside your reality?  If anything you ever needed to know could be accessed from your own inner wisdom?

This is what it is like to navigate life from the perspective of You as Consciousness.  Let these questions float along with you this week, and try this subtle shift of awareness, and see what happens!

The Truth About Ho'Oponopono

Most people know about Ho'Oponopono from Joe Vitale's book Zero Limits but the popular version is missing an important element.

It's known as a Hawaiian prayer "I'm sorry, Please forgive me, I love you, Thank you," that Dr. Hew Len used to heal an entire locked ward of a state mental hospital, so that within two years the ward was closed.

However, William Bloom traces it further.  Turns out it's an ancient Polynesian prayer, that the entire village would say whenever an individual would do something wrong.  They would address Spirit, saying "We are responsible. We are sorry.  Please forgive us.  There is only love.  Thank you."

I love his take on it.  These key points are important:
1. The group addresses Spirit, not eachother, not the transgressor or the transgressed.
2. The group takes responsibility for the wrongdoing.
3. Sorry is an apology, acknowledging the error.
4. Forgiveness removes the energy so it no longer hurts.
5. Love fills in the space, and heals.
6.Thank you expresses appreciation for the healing, completes the prayer.

Energetically, this is what takes place:
First, the focus is toward Consciousness, not the personalities involved.  The energy is directed upward or inward, depending on how you feel the connection.

Secondly, there is collective ownership of the creation. The group holds energy, anything an individual does within its energy field is a result of all the threads of interaction.  Taking responsibility is taking ownership of the wrongdoing.  You can only make change when you own the action.

Sorry in this case is an action.  It's the response part of taking responsibility. You can only make change when you feel what was done was wrong or caused injury.

Forgiveness is a neutralizing step.  It doesn't make the wrongdoing ok but removes its ability to continue to hurt.  It releases the discordant thread.

Love brings in Spirit, raises the energy, fills in the space created.

Thank you completes the healing, expresses gratitude and appreciation to Spirit.

Imagine if you saw everything in your world as vibrating threads.  Anything you read about or see in the news is a thread through your world.  As a creator of your Universe, you have the power to remove that thread from your experience.  In doing so, you help to de-energize its strength in the collective.

You can do this with family dysfunctional patterns, removing your participation in its travel through time.  You create the possibility for others to be free of it's effects as well.

Practicing Ho'Oponopono, in this full and encompassing way, declares your independance from the 'ties that bind', the unharmonious cords.

This world is a playground, a fishtank, a model railroad layout, created by Consciousness for the joy and wonder of it.  It is created by Love, and created with Love.  The energy it is manufactured with is Love.

When there is anything that is not-love, it's like poop on the playground.  It muddies the water.  It affects the structural integrity of the model.

As creators of our reality when we see this, we can go "Oops! My bad!"  (An effortless way to say I'm sorry and take ownership).  The poop may not have come out of our physical body, but we can still take a compostable "doggie doo" bag and pick it up (and effortless way to respond).

Love resets the diagram. Love restores the working order.

Thank You appreciates Consciousness beyond the personality level.  Thank U, thank U(niverse), thank You (your Higher Self).

And, thank You for reading this!

It Works When You Work It

There's a slogan in 12 step groups, 'It Works When You Work It'.  It means that if you do the recommended steps, you'll see results.

It's the same with energy work, and there's a few caveats.

You can't give something lip service, you have to actually take action.  You can't just visualize or make a collage, you have to physically do something to bring it your vision into form.

That doesn't mean hard work, or effort, however.  When you go into effort, you spiritually spin your wheels.  So sometimes it means stopping busywork.   It means taking authentic steps towards creating your reality.

An authentic step may look like meditation, or yoga.  Or reading a book.  Or taking a nap.

"It Works When You Work It" also means giving yourself time to practice what you're learning, time to go through the steps.  As Infinite Beings we love to jump to the end result, since as Spirit we're already there.

Whatever you are doing, requires a foundation.  Sometimes building that foundation looks like adopting a healthier lifestyle.

If you want to create wealth, you may need to start with balancing your checkbook.  It doesn't matter how great you look on the outside; you may need to start buying yourself new socks and underwear!

If you want to create a loving relationship, you may need to start with self care.  Loving yourself attracts someone who will love You, too!

Anything (on this planet) takes practice in order to become real.  Abraham-Hicks says it takes 17 seconds, but what they mean it, focusing on something for 17 seconds starts the attraction.  Focusing every day for 17 seconds begins to bring it from thought into physical.

However, the focusing has to be fun, it has to be positive, in has to be both grounded into reality and without effort.  If your focusing with clenched fists and furrowed brow, or if what you're fantasizing about doesn't really have You in it, you're just spinning your wheels.

Beware of Gremlin voices.  Those negating thoughts, 'oh this is a waste of time', 'I've tried it already and it hasn't worked', 'who am I to want this?', 'if I have what I want, no one will love me', etc. etc.   We all have Automatic Negative Thoughts.  Don't feed the ANTS.

Miracles happen when you let yourself consistently practice the techniques I've suggest in my weekly articles.  If you're reading this via my newsletter or somewhere else, find them on my blog at www.jmnewcomb.blogspot.com!

Easy Peasy Manifesting

Picture: Edenpics.com
We're coming up to a New Moon eclipse, so this is a powerful time for manifestation.  The energy is building for things to happen, new doors to open, sudden new beginnings.  Set intentions, visualize ideal outcome, and catch the wave!

How do you make something happen?  There are lots of ways.  The good old fashioned way is elbow grease.  You decide what you want, make a plan, take action, don't lose focus.  You use a lot of effort, and make it happen.

The New Age Woo-Woo way is to make a vision board, recite affirmations, journal about it, spend 17 seconds each day visualizing it, ask Source Energy and allow it to happen.  You use consistent focus and a lot of faith.

Other energy ways are, put it in a pink bubble (or balloon) and let it go, go to the parallel universe where you already have it, use a 'tractor beam' to bring it to you, see yourself with it and let your current energy match that.  You can also run energy of prosperity, abundance, miracles, etc.

All ways are valid.  So why isn't everyone walking around with their soul mates holding winning lottery tickets?  They may be (they just haven't stepped into the parallel universe where they realize it)!

There's an additional component, I think, that most people miss.  You have to be in your body.  If you're not home when the Universal Prosperity Service shows up, you miss receiving the delivery.

If you're out there in the realm of thoughts and dreams, whatever you want remains a concept or a fantasy.  Even if it does manifest, it doesn't last long, because you're not in your body to have it.

Reality needs an anchor point.  Actually, reality IS an anchor point.  You're bringing thought energy into physical form, it needs to become dense in order for it to show up.

There are some energy workers that are wonders in the level of light and love, but they can't change their own reality.  They struggle for material abundance, never find their soul mate, or remain physically unhealthy.

There are some creative artists that are tremendously talented, but they can't finish a piece of work.  They get wonderful ideas, they even start some, and are never able to finish anything.

We are *all* wonderful, creative, talented, infinitely capable manifestors. We manifested our individual body, we're manifesting all aspects of our lives, good and bad, down to the smallest detail.

For the stuff you want, are you keeping it from happening?  Do you dwell in the realm of ideas?  Is what you want remaining a thought form?  Have you confused intellect with energy (or Spirit)?

Theory takes action, otherwise it remains a concept.  Manifestation requires embodiment.  You have to be willing to show up in your body, in your life, to have what you want show up as well!

We don't like to come into our bodies when they're in pain.  But when we're not in our bodies, we feel uncomfortable!

So if there's something you want to manifest, start within yourself! Bring You into your body, enjoy physical reality.  Fill your body with Yourself, your magnificent Self, and watch (and feel) the miracles occur!

Coming Into Center

Coming Into Center ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb

I've had a few 'Spiritual Awakenings' in my life, and am teetering on another one.  I'll share with you what happened before, and what's happening now.

Each experience before came after a period of focus, and often after overcoming (or being in the process of overcoming) some great hardship.

The Spiritual Awakening was unexpected, and how it felt was unexpected, too.

The length of time I was in the awakening varied, but usually (it seems) getting into a relationship knocked me out of it.

How I got into each Awakening period was different, but each time I was doing some sort of inner focusing, inner meditation or energy work.  But the techniques differed.

So, what's happening now.  I'm refocusing energetically after a period of hardship.  What I'm doing is subliming simple on one level, although complex on others.

I'm simply walking my dog.

However, I'm walking my dog slowly and mindfully.  My dog, being a 10 year old, overweight corgi, is just fine with going slow.  She likes to sniff and pee on everything.

While she's inspecting every frond on every fern, I'm standing, centering, focusing inward.  My eyes are open, so I'm aware of my surroundings, but it's all an inward feeling.

First revelation came earlier this week, when I brought my full awareness into the Now.  The Now is pain-free.

This is so different than the decades of grounding and running energy, focusing into my body.  During traumatic times I couldn't sit still.  It was too painful.

Even though I "knew" the past was heavy and grief-ridden, and the future was fear-filled (from my body's perspective; body only knows the past, the future isn't real to it).  Even though I "knew" what Present Time was.

Bringing attention fully into Now, drops the memories, the stories, and the seeking.  There is no pain when you're fully aligned in the Present.

Okay.  So the second revelation happened the other day, I was playing with chakras and quantum energy.  My original training, running energy, auras, chakras, etc. became like Newtonian Physics after I learned about Matrix energy.  Matrix energy was Quantum Physics.

"Quantum Energy" is so outside the box, so outside the hologram, there's no center of the earth, there's no chakras.  It's an unnerving place to be, when one's been so in-bodied focused for such a long time. But it's the place where miracles occur.

Over the years I've integrated and adapted my techniques, chakras have become useful again as reference points.

So as I was walking the dog, I was playing with 'one-pointing', something I noticed I came up with a while back (doesn't mean that others aren't talking about it as well, we're all in the same Field).

As I 'one-pointed' each chakra, when I came to my throat, there was this sudden Awareness - very much like the Spiritual Awakening experiences I've had in the past.  I didn't fully tip over into it, but it's there and accessible.

One pointing my throat chakra, connected me inwardly *and* outwardly to All That Is.  That's about all I'll say about that at this moment.

Because, the next thing that's been happening, is this sense of pulling inward.  I've been consciously attempting to 'come back to center' in a way that worked in the past.

What's happening now, however, is coming back to center doesn't stop.  It's a continuous pulling inward that feels endless.  Each chakra point (and this isn't chakras as I knew them, or how I was originally trained - those were vortex tunnels that ran from front to back, energy flowed through, etc.) is like a doorway into the Infinite. There's an inner point in each one of them that is never ending.

So I'm playing with that.

The important thing here is that I'm not consciously TRYING to manipulate what's going on.  I'm not trying to control the outcome.  I'm just responding to the moment to what Is.

How is this useful to You?  Well, You will come to your own Awakening from your own series of experiences.  How to have your own... try this -

Drop your outward focus.  Pull your attention away from the drama and story in your life.  Bring your attention back from the past, all that's happened, and back from the future, all you wish that would happen.

I focus from the center of my head, that's back behind my eyes, between my ears (and up a little bit, actually).

I notice the center focus points down through my body, from the top of my head, center of my head, throat, heart, stomach/solar plexus, below my belly button, and in the base of my pelvis.  Sometimes the soles of my feet.

Imagine pulling your energy back from wherever it is in time (past or future), space (anywhere on Earth and beyond), and multidimensional reality (that can be dreamtime, or other universes, even).

Notice what that feels like or looks like - you may notice a change in your visual perception, too.

From there, it's up to You.

I'm in process with this, so more will be revealed, I'll share with you more as things happen!

Happy Awakening!

Birthing Pains

©2011 Joan M. Newcomb

Yesterday was very energetically interesting.  I felt like I was high - on caffeine without the jitters. The top of my head (crown and sixth chakras) were very clear and open.  It was like a continuous flow of creative energy. I kept wondering who was 'in my space' - if it was a baby being or a woman who was pregnant.

My husband kept saying he felt a profound change, a deep transformation or clearing out.

Then our stovetop blew up so we went out to dinner during a wind storm and when we got home the power was out.

I had a bit of battery left on my laptop to send a few emails and as I was shutting it down I saw the first Twitter notifications of the earthquake in Japan.

Today the news has been filled with the Tsunami hitting around the Pacific, and my Facebook pages filled with postings to do with astrological predictions, Mayan calendar dates, and scientific reports.  Quite a lot of excitement!

One comment said "Birthing Pains for the New Earth," and reminded us to breathe.

The birth process is a great analogy for what we're collectively going through.  Birth doesn't just happen on a physical level, there's a spiritual and energetic experience at the same time.

Physically you have contractions, which aren't necessarily painful at first but hurt like an SOB when the head's coming out (I had two home births without medication).  You definitely have to breathe through it!  Energetically it's very powerful as the Being prepares to fully move into form (it's been there during the development of the foetus but it really 'moves in' when the baby body comes out).  The energy at a birth can be chaotic or euphoric or both.

The Earth has been having powerful contractions, with major earthquakes and volcanoes over the past year.  We're experienced the chaos resulting from these events and may have missed the euphoria.

Consciousness is moving more fully into form. Consciousness is the essence of who We are, all the different bodies and personalities are the manifestation of Consciousness.  From Consciousness' perspective, Consciousness is integrating more into bodies.  Our individual personality and body we may experience it as our Awareness is raising or we are 'waking up.

As this is happening, anything that is not in integrity with Consciousness is disintegrating and falling away.  We are experiencing 'earthquakes' in our personal lives.  Things we've identified with and relied upon are disintegrating.  Our careers, our investments, our relationships all seem to be falling apart.

People who identify with these things are experiencing the most pain.  And that which is "dying" is squawking the loudest.  People and things who have been limiting people's expansions are losing power, as we're seeing in the Middle East.  It's interesting to see the right wing extreme in the US attempt to impose more limitations and restrict basic rights.  They may seem to be 'winning' but they cannot prevent the inevitable expansion any more than a woman in labor can cross her legs and stop her birth.

With increased Consciousness there's increased responsibility.  This does not mean taking responsibility for others, nor accepting blame for events.  It means responding-to rather than reacting.  It means ownership of your own creations.  You are not a child and God is not the parent.  You are the Divine Being, senior in your own space.  It means taking responsibility for your inner power and use of it.

How do you get through the birth pains?  Breathe.  Allow support; spiritual midwives will show up in all sorts of guises.  Accept (because there's no going back when labor has started).  When you are in agreement with the changes, the process goes easier for you!

View it from a Spiritual perspective and you'll find yourself excited rather than fearful.  Instead of trying to control the outcome, be curious about what possibilities await you.  Step up and out of your personal story and drama (and beyond the news and gossip) and see the bigger picture.  Open to the expansion and you'll have a quick and joyful birth.

Remember these suggestions over the next days and weeks and you'll have a lot more fun with your transformation.

Who Am I?

©2010 Joan M. Newcomb

I participate in a group who all, in one fashion or another, follow Robert Scheinfeld's Busting Loose model.  It's interesting to see different people's interpretation of the work.  I've taken the last several months to reflect on what my own Truth is, what feels right and real to me based on my own life experience and learning.

Someone pronounced how we are all Players in this Human Game and as such we have no power.  I didn't agree with them in the way they were saying it, although as I write this out now, I can agree with the statement.

As Players in the Human Game, we have no power.  The Player self is the part that's running around, engaged in the story and drama, that believes physical reality is real.  It's the part that is fully engaged in the roller coaster of life.

When you want to (and try to) change, fix or improve the Hologram it doesn't work.  You're fighting with the scenery, just pushing the furniture around.

A clue is if you have a Big, Fat Opinion about your storyline, and feel really strongly that things have to change, you're probably viewing things as your Player Self.  It takes things really seriously.  Everything is life and death to it, since that part isn't going to make it out of the story line alive.

For those of you who are regular readers of my Ezine/Blog, you know I'm talking about the Body/Personality.  It's the 'Meat Suit' you put on to play the Game.  It's the physical form you manifest to play here on the planet.

However, you're also an Infinite Being.  Actually, how *I* would say it, is You are an Infinite Being.  As Such, You created all of this (including your Player Self).  When you shift your perspective and start viewing your life *as* You, your storyline becomes amusing.

For regular readers, you know I also call this your Essence, and in the old days I'd say Spirit.  Consciousness is a good word for it, too.

Abraham-Hicks calls it your Inner Being, but I don't quite agree with that (although I love the term Inner Being).  It still implies that it's something other than Yourself.  You *are* your Inner Being.

If you just view things as your Player Self, you can get stuck in powerlessness.  I know someone who spent the better part of a year lying in bed crying when she hit the first level of Busting Loose.  The story of her life dissolved around her (which She was Creating it to do).  But she wasn't able to get out of it until she started identifying with her Infinite Self.  It didn't mean things stopped disintergrating or the roller coaster ride ended, but she started having more fun playing here.

The other end of the spectrum is when you identify with your Infinite Being but as still viewing it through the lens of personality.  Wow, you are SO POWERFUL, you CREATED ALL OF THIS!  And then ego runs around like a little Napolean, screaming and yelling at people (because IT CREATED ALL OF THEM).  After a while it falls flat on its face and goes back to proclaiming it's powerlessness.

When you're lined up, Infinite Being and Player self, you feel amused, in balance, in agreement with everything that's happening.  You don't need to change, fix or improve anything.  But you do feel at choice with your actions in the game.  Instead of being stuck to the script, you get to improvise.

When you're acting as an Infinite Being operating through the Player self, You don't get mad at others, because You know they're created by You.  They're Other Aspects of Yourself, in Your hologram to play with.

There's only one Infinite/Essence/Spirit; You are Unity.  You created others to get the experience of individuality and of diversity.

As Infinite/Essence/Spirit; You are Joy.  You created your Player Self to experience a variety of emotions for the fun of it.

As Infinite, there is no good or bad, no time or space.  All of those things exist in this world because... you guessed it, You wanted the fun of experiencing these things.

When you start seeing things as Infinite/Essence/Spirit, it activates your Knowingness.  Player self only knows what it's experienced since it was born.  As Infinite, You *are* the Cosmic Internet.

Now, Player self is a limited vehicle and there's only just so much You can cram into it.  So if you're saying, "Well how come I don't know my future?  How come I don't have the answer to everything? How come I'm not rich and famous'.  As you expand your awareness, raise your vibration, let go of effort, You can embody it more.  You choose not to know the answer to everything or everything that's coming up, because the game wouldn't be as much fun any more.  How many times can you play tic-tac-toe without getting bored?  On the other hand, isn't chess with all it's myriad of moves and combinations, far more fascinating?

You don't create being rich and famous because, as Infinite, You *are* Abundance.  Experiencing lack is much more interesting!  Even rich and famous people still experience lack.  Will Smith, on the Oprah Show, confessed to waking up in the middle of the night worrying about money.

When you connect inwardly with You, money becomes a non-issue.  It's about trying new and different things, taking risks, going through changes, living life to the fullest.

This week I invite you to shift perspective.  Start viewing your life *as* an Infinite Being.  What would it be like, thinking of all your problems, if you viewed them as the Infinite Being You Are, creating them as fun challenges?  What if You were bigger than your problems?  If you're struggling with another person, boss, friend, relative, partner, what if they were castmembers in Your storyline, You the Infinite Being created to interact with?  You brought them into this game at the perfect time, perfect moment, playing the perfect role for You to bounce off of?

Go throughout your day and week making little shifts in perspective, and see how Your life transforms in 7 days!

You Are God - Are You?

(c)2009 Joan M. Newcomb

This is a big topic (as big as God) which can be approached from many angles... I'm just going to dive in and see what emerges.

I'm going to start biblically. If you look at the Old and New Testament version of God, you can see a clue as to the evolution of mankind, or the embodiment of Consciousness in form.

The Old Testament God is vengeful, jealous, but basically one that is very far away or removed from the people that he's pelting with frogs or locusts. It's a God that feels distant, yet also imbued with human characteristics. It's as if the little, antlike people are projecting their negative emotions onto God. Oh, and they have God be both nameless and formless yet have God be a Him. And be very mysterious and hard to understand. The perfect dysfunctional authority figure!

The New Testament God as introduced by Jesus, is a closer relationship, a father figure you can talk to, one who loves you and cares for you. Yet lets you die on the cross, because He loves you. And still is pretty persnickety when it comes to Sin. Oh, wait, some of that is leftover distortion from the Old Testament and some of that is continued distortion from the centuries of mis-translations.

[A side note - "sin" in Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke, actually is an archery term that means 'missing the mark'. Think about how the tenor of the teachings change when you de-energize sin into a simple 'oops']

If you look at both from perspective of Consciousness evolution, you see that Consciousness created these forms, which have personality, with the intention of manifesting in and through them. In the Old Testament, these forms were still new (but not experimental, like Dinosaurs and Neanderthals, which got scrapped like early versions of the automobile). Vibrationally dense, Consciousness wasn't fully embodied into them. Hence the interpretation of God (=Consciousness) being 'far away'.

In the New Testament there was a mass Consciousness shift, where more of the energy could come through. A closer relationship was considered, a parental one, an identification (we were made in God's own form), but still God was outside. My Mystery School training, which was based on first century Christianity, said that only about 20% of Spirit could manifest into form. Even that's a distortion, because it emphasizes the dichotomy between Spiritual energy and Body energy (I've been away from that training for 15 years now, and I'm still letting go of some key elements of it).

What I see with the present Consciousness Shift is that Humanity is bringing the awareness within - to know the God within, the God Self, an inner identification with God. We weren't made in God's form - God doesn't have arms and legs or genitals. We are God's Essence manifesting form. So many changes are coming about because of this new awareness. For example traditional therapy, where the professional has more information than you, diagnoses you with what's 'wrong' with you, and can provide you with the answers or solution, is transitioning to Life Coaching. Life Coaches hold that you're the expert in your life, and are trained to ask empowering questions that draw your own Inner Wisdom out.

I've had my own adjustments with this shift. I wasn't comfortable with the concept of God Within, because I had a fear of the Ego. Having had a long term relationship with a cocaine addict, an up-close experience of the Addict's ego-personality, I didn't think it was safe to give that idea any power!

Of course, as our collective vibration raises, the denser aspects of ourselves fall away, including this distortion called Ego. Another way of looking at it is, as our collective vibration gets lighter, it brings to the surface the dark stuff that needs to be cleared. (Doesn't that explain the last 8+ years)?

However even as I write this, I'm aware of yet another step those of us on the leading edge are sliding into. That we don't have a God Within, but that we Are God. Robert Scheinfeld expresses it this way, 'the Power and Presence of God, creating this experience of reality down to the smallest detail'.

My experience is that we are Spirit, creating this physical reality down to the smallest detail. Spirit, singular, creating each physical form to manifest through. I Am Spirit, you are Spirit, too. The forms look different, but that's what's so fun about this place (to Spirit).

And, my most recent experience/revelation is that nothing is linear, nothing is dense to diffuse, dark to light, self to other. It is Spirit (I AM Spirit), instantaneously creating this awareness, more effortlessly than a programmer creating an internet game or Disney creating a theme park. As I allow this awareness and identification to become clear, things pop into and out of my hologram without logic or reason. Although I could create a story to try to make sense of things, they don't.

There isn't a leading edge here, either. Because that's a linear concept - if there's a lead, there's stuff lagging behind.

It's uncomfortable and exhilarating at the same time. Because I'm very attached to my core beliefs of things making sense, there being gravity and the center of the earth, and life having purpose. It's exhilarating because core limitations no longer have to exist. Karma, sin, working through lessons, being stuck, mistakes, all evaporate when viewed as Source. Source doesn't need to learn anything - It *invented* this game, and this vehicle. Source is just riding this particular ride, the way Jay Leno decides on which car he's going to take for a spin. Spirit *is* Perfection, so what's fun is experiencing imperfection!

So I'm still 'reclaiming power' from the old belief that others are separate, that Density is real (along with gravity). But as I do, my heart expands - which is an illusion also, but the heart feeling is real. As I identify myself *as* Source, *as* Spirit, I feel the expansiveness of it all. It's Love beyond love, and Joy beyond joy.

Since you're reading this, You must have wanted to receive this information. I invite you to take this in baby steps, to let the ideas germinate in your heart and head. Notice where *you* are in your awareness. Watch how your consciousness is shifting. If you need any more information, turn within and connect to Consciousness (I like the idea of having an internal modem and we're on-line to the Cosmic Internet 24/7... except with my new awareness, I *am* the Internet).

And see what blossoms as a result!
