Grief and Loss
Grief and Loss ©2021 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
When I entered my sixties, I realized, in order to live a long time that I'd have to get used to grief and loss. Amongst other things.
Not that I hadn't had plenty of experience with grief and loss in the preceding sixty years.
However in recent years there's been some wrenching losses, individually and collectively. How I've handled it in the past is to compartmentalize it. I usually go into action mode, "fight" more than "flight".
I can grieve later, I decide at the time.
There's a practical reality to this, as usually there's no one else to rely on or pick up the pieces. I don't feel I have the "luxury" to collapse in grief. As I write this, I realize that grieving isn't a sign of weakness, and it doesn't have to bring collapse. I can grieve and I can be in action at the same time.
The part of me that is grieving is the part of me that perceives loss. It's the part of me that wants security and stability, and believes those things are in relationships, and material things like a roof over one's head.
It's the part of me that isn't going to make it out of this lifetime alive, so views everything in very black and white terms.
As Consciousness, I don't feel grief nor loss, because I know I am always connected with my loved ones, whether they're in physical form or not. As I write this, I also realize I'm always connected with loved ones not yet in physical form as well. Which delights me.
As Consciousness, I don't need a location for security, as I'm creating all of this in the moment. I don't need security, either. Security doesn't make sense to one that is infinite, All that Is, creating all things.
However, also as Consciousness I've created this form, my body/personality, and am aware of it's needs and desires.
When I live life *as* Consciousness with a physical form and personality, it doesn't mean marching forwards as if its needs don't matter. That's like riding a horse and neglecting to give it water, abandoning at night when wolves howl.
As Consciousness, life means experiencing every delicious and difficult aspect of being in physical form. It actually doesn't mean marching forwards towards anything. That is a body level kind of measurement.
Also just realized that living "a long time" is also a body level measurement. Of course bodies want to live as long as possible.
Being in the present moment, is as close to feeling the infiniteness of Consciousness as you can feel.
As a collective, we've been through an enormous amount of grief and loss in the last year or two. We've been experiencing an accelerated shift in Consciousness that heightens our awareness but also our empathy with others. This magnifies grief and loss as we're not just feeling our own emotions.
We're also losing everything we thought was real, but actually was just egoic levels of importance. That's not to invalidate people who lost loved ones during the pandemic. People have transitioned to nonphysical in increasing numbers during this time. That's been hard to handle, we miss their physical presence and the prevalent "noise" makes it difficult to connect with them Spirit to Spirit. They're still there but it's like a bad cell phone connection - easier to talk to but harder to hear.
Evolving to a new level means letting go of what was familiar, and we may fight it even if what was familiar wasn't comfortable. We might be so used to being in pain and unhappy, we're resisting taking steps that would improve our lives or expand our quality of living.
When I'm in that place (and I kinda sorta in that place right now in certain areas), I don't need to immediately leap to being perfectly pain free and joyously happy all the time. Although as Consciousness, I can easily do so. For my body's sake, I can take baby steps to change.

Making Friends With Laziness
Making Friends With Laziness ©2021 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
At my brother's Physical Therapist there was a stature of a young monk sitting with Ganesha, the Hindu Elephant God. Or so I thought. Ganesha represents luck and abundance.
I took a photo and sent it to my husband, who texted back that it's not Ganesha at all, but a Buddhist story, the young monk is seeking enlightenment and the black elephant represents laziness. Eventually it turns white after the monk overcomes it.
It seemed fitting for a PT's office, my brother needs to do a lot of hard, physical work to overcome his disability. It's an uphill battle as he's naturally sedentary.
But today I see it from another perspective.
Today I'm seeing it from the perspective of self care. I'm notoriously bad at self care. The only time I took a nap in recent memory was after my second COVID vaccine. On the other hand, my brother takes frequent naps. He needs them for his stroke-injured brain to recover.Making friends with laziness doesn't mean letting it take over your life. It's allowing for balance. Inactivity can be restorative. Resisting laziness can mean you spin your wheels with a lot of activity that doesn't really get you anywhere. Often you need to stop trying to make things happen in order for things to manifest in a bigger way, beyond your own imagination.

Upgrading God
Upgrading God ©2021 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Last weekend I was at a conference where a white judge from Texas (not acting in his professional capacity but using his legal expertise to manipulate our voting system) wanted to enforce a rigid and antiquated interpretation of the group's guidelines. It excludes the experience of a large number of participants. He did something like this last year, which led to 12 months of discord and contention within the organization.
This year the majority of attendees expressed a desire to be inclusive. He managed to get the last word in before the first gathering was ending, with an attempt to back up his claims using gender specific terms for God.
His viewpoint is that if we expand our interpretation, the organization will die. What's actually dying, is old paradigms of power, old paradigms of gender, old paradigms of privilege and exclusivity. It's his version of reality that is dying. His attempt to exert control, if successful, would lead to the death of the organization.
But that's not going to happen, because the majority of members are committed to growth and clarity.
I'm working with a mentee who was raised in a conservative religious cult, and the male gendered version of God was actually preventing her spiritual growth. I suggested calling God "she", and it completely expanded her worldview. She uses "Goddess" in her prayers and feels more trusting that it's a benevolent Universe.
A few years ago, I went through yet another frigging upgrade from the 5D one I already went through in 2006. I'd already experienced the Universe being benevolent. I liked that version of spiritual software. But in 2016, my version of God expanded. As a child I was raised Presbyterian, with the old man with a beard God who was also punishing, non-forgiving, and withholding. In my early twenties, it changed to the Universe, that I could call on ("Hey, U"!) any time and feel everything surrounding me become sharper and brighter. When I went to Findhorn times in my late thirties, I experienced being enveloped in Love, and when I studied with David Spangler in my early forties, I experienced that same Love again, falling into it fearing I would lose myself and yet finding myself more clearly defined within it.
But then it became Consciousness, and I Am Consciousness, both encompassing and within. And it wasn't just accessing God Within, it was Consciousness within and the absolute knowing that I Am Consciousness.
And that really tripped me up. It was so foreign to the belief that God is a power greater than you, an intelligence greater than myself, something to surrender to, turn my will and my life over to the care of...
How do I do that when it's me? Consciousness doesn't have a heirarchy. There's no more than or less than. You don't give up space to it. It doesn't make sense to.
So I spent a good four years arm wrestling with it, feeling almost atheist.
And now it's turning around. I Am Consciousness and the part of me that is arm wrestling myself is my body personality, my horse. When I operate as Consciousness, everything lines up and manifests easily and effortlessly.
Consciousness is greater than the Hologram. It's greater than the avatar playing in the hologram. And yet it is the life force within every cell that makes up the character that is me and the seemingly solid objects within the hologram.
There is no power in the hologram and to try to shadow box with it will make you feel powerless.
Drop the fight and more possibilities open up.
But I also realize that this experience of Consciousness is not fixed. It expands, it contracts. Because it's Earth the opposite will feel true.
We're all going through a Consciousness upgrade. For some of us we've gone to our general settings and clicked "Install now". For some of us it's going to happen while we sleep and when we wake up we'll discover half of our apps no longer work.
In my experience, it's a lot more pleasant to click 'Install now" and be in agreement with the expansion than to remain unconscious.
What do you want to do?

Projections
Projections ©2021 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
I’ve had some interesting experiences recently being the recipient of people’s projections. One person anticipated being judged for their being inconsistent with their schedule, one person was pissed that a project didn’t include more time zones.
Also, I’ve had times when I’ve misjudged people because of my projections.
Projections are perceptions we view the world through (or are viewed by others). Just like a combat vet reacts to fireworks and thinks they’re back in a war zone. Energy gets projected onto people, places, things. It’s almost always negative. Sometimes it’s unrealistically positive, projecting someone is more angelic than they really are.
Projections mean that you’re not in the present moment, and you’re definitely not experiencing clarity. Clarity is simply the truth of what is. Truth can be ugly, but there’s also a feeling relief because it’s real. You can do something about reality. You can’t do anything about projections except spin your wheels.
How can we see things clearly? How can we be seen clearly?
The first question’s answer is simple (but not necessarily easy). Be in the present moment. Question your thoughts. If something is dramatic, or scary, or really, really bad, then it’s probably not real. Unless you really are in a war zone. But even then. When you’re really in a war zone, it’s more likely your senses get heightened and things slow down. That’s being in the present moment, being present with what is.
Our bodies are walking picture galleries. We’ll react to anything through our lenses from the past. Our minds will make up stories about what is going on around us, and we view the world through those movies.
Being still, being in the present moment, allows us to perceive clearly as Consciousness. If something is matter of fact, benevolent, or amusing, then it’s probably real.
How can we be seen clearly?
Well, we can’t change, fix or manipulate the pictures of others around us. We can only be centered in our own awareness. It’s more a matter of not resisting other’s projections.
Sometimes, as we evolve, as we grow brighter, we’ll receive more projections. Because to others used to the dark, our light is hurting their eyes.
As we become more Conscious, we bump up against our own unconscious projections. We're so used to them, they're invisible to us. But they act as plexiglass walls to our own growth.
Collectively, we're all expanding to a newer, lighter, brighter reality. So even if it seems uncomfortable or dark right now, light is on the other side.

The End of The World (As We Know It)
The End of The World (As We Know It) ©2021 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
I’m observing what is going on in the world today, and I’m seeing huge growth and expansion. In order for expansion to happen, however, old, restrictive patterns need to be released.
There’s an aspect of this that is natural. This planet is always in the midst of creating and destroying, disintegration and regeneration. Then there’s our man made, physical level of destruction and creation. We can see it evident in climate change and the effect of fossil fuels, but also in our creation of machines using alternative fuels, becoming more “green” in our building, more aware of our carbon footprint.
And then there’s cultural and societal changes, working towards equity and equality for all people.
I’ve spent the last forty years engaging more in the unseen realms, and here I am seeing more intensity than ever before. I believe it starts with the unseen and evolves to the physical, so what we’re witnessing in the work is a reaction to what it happening to all of us within. I think we haven’t experienced such enormous transformation in nearly two thousand years.
When you view it from the physical or even societal perspective it can feel like the end of the world as we know it. But it’s not the end of the world, just the world as we know it. You can feel like you’re dying. But it’s just the restrictive patterns that are going away. You can see prominent people in the news trying to reinforce restrictions, trying to drag the evolving world back to olden times. It’s not going to work, any more than trying to stop a tsunami with sandbags or a volcano with boulders.
It’s bigger than them. It’s bigger than their versions of reality. Evolution is happening whether it’s comfortable or not.
When you look at all of this from the perspective of Consciousness, you see it as light and patterns. Consciousness begins outside the hologram, but shows up in the hologram as vibration. It’s very high, very clear, and as it comes into form, it creates patterns of varying density. Bright light destroys shadows. High vibration shatters denser structures. We’re all experiencing being in the light in different ways.
Some of us are exhilarated. This is what we feel we are born for, to break rigid patterns, to bring in greater light. We’re on the leading edge, we’ve felt different than others, we’re excited to see the rest of the world catching up! Some of us are really uncomfortable. We’re born to stablize, to reinforce structures, to keep things in order. When we can open ourselves to the new things coming in, we can assist by helping to create foundations, to support and anchor the new into form.
All of us are either reinforcing patterns or breaking them. Reinforced patterns start as scaffolding for new creations for Consciousness to manifest through. Breaking old patterns allows new growth.
It’s natural to resist, whether it’s resisting old patterns we feel are being imposed upon us, or whether it opportunity for new patterns that will actually allow us to manifest what we’ve been desiring for a long time.
When we resist old patterns, we feel imposed upon, we feel those outside are more powerful than we are. That is exactly the old that is in the process of dissolving and going away. When you stop resisting, you get your energy back and empower yourself.
When we resist new patterns, we stop ourselves from expanding into our next level of evolution. When you stop resisting your own growth, you effortlessly go forward into your True Self, who you really are (beyond your body and personality).
It’s the end of the world as we have known it, and the beginning of the new world better than we could possibly imagine.

Symbiotic Relationships 2019
This is an updated version of a post from 2012
I’m in the midst of heavy duty care giving again, this time helping my younger brother recover from a stroke. It helps me to remember that in every situation, I’m receiving as well as giving. Right now there is healing occurring on many levels. My brother and I share a unique childhood, no one else in the family (who is still alive) experienced the things we experienced. And I’m benefiting in other ways, like getting to spend my weekends running around Manhattan.
"Symbiotic Relationships"usually refers to two different species, such as barnacles on whales or birds on rhinos. Barnacles grow on whales and live off of particles floating in the surrounding ocean that would otherwise affect the whale's vision. Several kinds of birds feed off of insects that live on rhino's skin (you could say the insects themselves have a symbiotic relationship with their host).
It's also a good term for how we humans interact with each other.
Biology describes 5 different kinds of Symbiotic Relationships:
- Mutualism, where both species benefit
- Commensalism, where one species benefits, the other is unaffected
- Parasitism, where one species benefits, the other is harmed
- Competition, where neither species benefits
- Neutralism, where both species are unaffected
It's an interesting way to look at your friends, family and coworkers! Is your relationship Mutual, a 'win-win' for each person? Are you and your partner, family member, or employer/coworker/customer equally benefiting?
Is it Commensal you're getting something and they're not getting anything but it doesn't matter to them? That's a tougher one to imagine. Even if you feel you're putting out all the effort and getting nothing back, there's always something returning to you.
It gets a little messy when considering Parasites. People aren't exactly ticks or noxious weeds, but you could look at some government officials being parasitical when they want tax breaks for themselves while withdrawing services for others. When I was a teenager, my father called my mother, my brother and I, “parasites”. Verbal abuse scars the soul. This is one of the childhood wounds I’m hoping I’m healing while I’m New York.
Biology defines Competition as where *neither* benefits. Spiritually, competition stops growth and creativity, as it places your attention outside yourself. Competition focuses not just on doing better than someone but in outdoing them. In biology it affects survival.
Neutral is as tough to imagine as Commensal, because how can there be an interaction without being affected?
Unless you're roughing it on a desert island, we are all interdependent, no matter how alone or resistant you may feel. No relationship is truly one way. Even anonymously helping someone leaves you with a good feeling, just as using them leaves you feeling bad.
It can be disturbing to realize in a dysfunctional relationship you were actually getting something out of it. Perhaps you were afraid to leave because you were still trying to get taken care of. Perhaps you didn't want to take responsibility for yourself. Perhaps their dysfunction made you seem normal!
We are all participating in a giant energetic tapestry called life. Each of us is creating or emitting a colorful thread of our own unique vibration. And from a broader perspective we've agreed to be here interacting with everyone else. It's all good, even if we don't experience it that way at the moment.
This week, in your relationships, notice - are you the whale or the barnacle? The rhino or the bird? The tree or the ivy? It doesn't matter if you're big or little, you're receiving something from it! Acknowledging the pattern can help you change it. Recognizing your part or what you're receiving from it can help you accept it, and transform it if you want to.
Try this for 7 days and see what happens!

Breathing Room
Someone I follow just sent out their newsletter apologizing for “dropping off the face of the earth”. To be honest, I hadn’t noticed. I knew they were moving from a tropical island to a place in Europe where they could ski year round. That alone takes time and energy.
They explained that they needed time to integrate the change, and that they’d dropped everything, even their regular writing, as it was happening. Brilliant.
We need time to reorient within, before looking at our next steps.
This period of time has been relentless with continual transformations. We barely have time to breath before the next adjustment is required of us.
What’s been going on for all of us collectively is huge. Our greater Consciousness is coming more into form. To our body, it feels an enormous expansion.
It may have shown up as really challenging situations that required you to release things, belief systems, and relationships you were very attached to. Anything restrictive may still be in the process of being removed. It may have been very painful. At the very least, it might be an identity shift.
What was going on energetically was an internal renovation. Our old system couldn’t accommodate the increased vibration.
It reminds me of when butterflies emerge from their cocoon. They need to let their wings dry before they fly.
You’ve just gone through this metamorphosis. You have no idea how this new energy body works. Take a moment to feel into it.
Last Wednesday, we aired our last show of Conscious Conversations With Joan and Janet. The contract with the station had come to an end and my current circumstances don't allow for regularly broadcasting a live show.
Now part of me wants to just jump into podcasting. To fill up that Wednesdays at 11am PT time slot.
Being a radio show host has been a part of my identity since 2009. It's something everyone understood when they asked me "what do you do".
What would it be like to not do that? To let there be that space. To see what emerges from the void.
And this blog - I've been consistently publishing it and my newsletter for years. What would it be like to skip a week? To go on hiatus?
I'm not sure that's what I'll do, but I am noticing the need to allow for something different. To not push forward as the mind, body-personality, wants to do. To navigate intuitively, as Consciousness, and let the next steps emerge.
I'm excited to see what happens!

Leaning In To Enormous Growth
It’s been an emotional week, in a way that I’ve not been familiar with in a long time. Last Saturday I went to the Bronx and got stuck talking with a crazy lady (nice, but crazy) for 90 minutes. Normally I would have handled this with humor and grace. That day, I felt like running screaming from the room. Then I went to the Whole Foods in Harlem (it seems to be my mission to visit every Whole Foods in New York City) and the population density just tipped me over. I’m not used to not enjoying myself to this extent.
Wow, I said to myself. I’m in a huge growth space.
Six months ago at a Meetup I was leading in Tacoma, we were playing with walking through doors to parallel universes, and I hit this kind of resistance as I stepped through one. I realized I was initiating something momentous. I recall leaning into it and wondering what shift was set in motion at the time.
Voilà .
Of course, this began in August but whatever is going on this week is moving it to a whole new level.
Sunday, my sister-in-law’s 70 year old brother came from Taiwan to help. He’s here until February. All I knew about him was that he became a nurse’s aide when he retired from the army. So we’ve been very excited about his arrival, because he can take over a lot of the physical therapy.
What’s struck me at first is his very kind face. And he’s far more gentle with my brother than I am.
In fact, all of my sister-in-law’s friends and family that have come so far have been extraordinarily kind and gentle. You can tell they genuinely love my brother.
But this guy has been driving me crazy in ways I would normally be able to rise above. There’s a 13 hour time difference between here and Taipei. That’s a lotta days of jet lag. I feel I’ve been enormously rude and petty. But we’ve weathered it so far and yesterday I felt like I’ve broken through some of my stuff. I mean, he cooked my organic onion for his dinner and I didn’t feel ballistic. That’s progress.
There’s a lot of reorganization going on here. Even as I lose physical space, sharing the room with him, I’m gaining time. Now all I have to do is phone calls and paperwork. And I can leave the apartment during the day. Freedom.
My business is shifting, too. I have a two week pause with clients. I feel something else is emerging and I don’t know what it is. I just need to lean into it, and see what I step through to.
Astrologically, this is my natal Jupiter return and the last time this happened was when my work and my world shifted from Newtonian Physics to Quantum Physics. That’s all. I can’t imagine what this year will bring.
But it’s such a time of breaking down, loss of old creations, stepping into new and unfamiliar things every day.
This is happening in different ways to everyone. How are you experiencing it?
What are you losing? What are you gaining?
This week ended with the delivery of a hemi cane. It will help my brother, who's partially paralyzed on the right side of his body, get out of his wheelchair and walk again. This is a significant step towards independence for him.
And, it snowed.

Peeling Away The Layers and Releasing Relationships
The past four or five years, I've been focused on creating stability in my life. This has not been easy since my natural tendency is to bring light and light brings change. I grew up moving to different countries every 2-5 years, pulling up roots is second nature to me. Letting them sink deep is not.
I found myself creating groups, joining groups, and forging alliances in a very different way than ever before. I used to always feel on the periphery. I'd contribute, but was always mindful that at some point I'd be leaving. Relationships were lightly held.
There are some relationships I've created over the past few years that are draining. I've stayed committed to them, even when they take more than they give. At some point, they even stopped driving me crazy. But i didn't have a reason to end them, even when I wanted to. (Funny to realize that just wanting to was not a strong enough reason).
Now, with my brother's stroke, my caring for him is taking all my energy. It's peeling away those relationships. I'm having to let go of anything inauthentic, anything that takes more than gives.
It's amazing how it's happening as well. Some are naturally stepping away, some I do have to haltingly put on hiatus, but even as I face this extremely limiting reality (I cannot go anywhere during the week, I have 12 hour days of caregiving and cannot leave the apartment unless there's someone else to watch him, which most times there is not) it is also extremely freeing. All the responsibilities and obligations from before are released.
I'm not dropping any of these instantly, in certain cases I'm reluctantly letting some go. Even if I've been dissatisfied for a long time, there still was an invested interest. And yet it's releasing all ties.
From one perspective, this seems outside imposed. These circumstances demand it. Like the Universe is making me do this. From another perspective, I've created this. As Consciousness, I've created this peeling away of layers, this release of whatever does not serve me. When I shift my perspective, I'm in total agreement with all that is going on. Because it's my creation.
As Consciousness, there's no need to change, fix, or manipulate anything happening on the outside. Although I have healing techniques that could change my brother's state, I only use them when circumstances show up. Someone else instructed me to do "Qi Gong massage" on him, which I'm faithfully doing daily, and I feel it naturally shifting to my energy work.
Playing on this level, it's simply about responding to what is. Navigating differently, making different choices.
There's no judgement, no blame, no fault, no force. It's a massive reorganization. Like moving furniture that hasn't been moved for a while, there's dust and debris, even lost items revealed.
We're all going through enormous, evolutionary times. Every single one of us is Consciousness creating our unique storyline. Shift your perspective to Consciousness and you will know that all is very, very well.

Creation and Destruction - is one necessary for the other?
This planet is one of opposites, polarities, and dichotomies. It is a place to witness and participate in the miracle of creation. It is also a place to experience and respond to loss and destruction.
From the perspective of Consciousness, creating and destroying is the game on this planet. Earth is a playground for Consciousness.
Now, to Consciousness, creating and destroying are virtually the same thing. It is equally creative to destroy. And to our body-personality, it seems like you can't create without destroying.
That doesn't mean you have to lose something in order to gain something. But the act of creating means transforming whatever it was into whatever it is becoming. It's shifting your state from not having that thing to having that thing. It means releasing or letting go of concepts and beliefs in order to expand to new awarenesses and realizations.
Sometimes the destruction is big and in-your-face. It could be every aspect of your life gets razed, through death, illness, or divorce. What emerges is a new identity, a new emotional depth, greater compassion, more openness and love.
But destruction doesn't have to be devastating or painful. It can simply be your world reorganizing into something better.
Nature is amazingly neutral about destruction. Forest fires happen. Floods occur. Flora and fauna get wiped out, but then new plants begin to grow and new wildlife enter the area.
Going through times of enormous change can be painful and challenging for our body-personality. But we can make it easier by remembering that we are greater Consciousness, ultimately creating it all. As greater Consciousness we can hold a bigger space for our body-personality. We can be compassionate towards it's reaction to change.
Operating as Consciousness doesn't mean not feeling. Consciousness can be neutral even as the body-personality is grieving. As Consciousness I can hold a bigger space while navigating through the body-personality. I get to parent the body through it's growth experience.
As we shift to greater Consciousness in form, we move from 3D to 5D where everything is different. Energy coming into form doesn’t require displacement of something else. Things can effortlessly dissipate and things can equally effortlessly appear without any correlation.
It doesn’t require any action on your part. It only requires noticing.

You're not alone
You're not alone ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Do you have an intuitive sense of the unseen? Are you highly sensitive to “vibes” in places? Very attuned to the feelings and needs of others?
Growing up, did you feel like the only one in your family that was this way? Perhaps everyone else went into the family business, stayed in their religion, voted in the same political party.
And do you think they love you, but they don’t understand you? They might even sigh and roll their eyes, when you tell them of the exciting new things you’re discovering (if you still even try to talk to them about this stuff). But do you find they cannot imagine why you would have the interests you have or do the things you do?
Does this make you sad, frustrated or even mad at them? Do you wonder how they can lead such screamingly boring lives? Or do you question what’s wrong with you, you don’t know how to live in the world?
Are you especially overwhelmed with all that is going on with the planet today?
Yeah. I understand.
When I was going through my metaphysical training, my father somehow thought I was getting a degree in parapsychology from the University of Washington! I really don't think they have a parapsychology department. But I did meet someone recently who said that they do have courses in Consciousness, which is really exciting to hear.
You're not alone in all of this, even if it seems like it. You're one of the ones that are feeling it first, but it's happening to everyone around the world.
There are those of us who are on the leading edge, to whom the invisible is more real than the “real world”. We’re adventurers in our souls, even if we don’t have passports. We’re natural light bringers and intuitive healers.
And even as we know, deep within, that we’re going through an awakening, we cannot fathom the darkness that’s crawling out of the woodwork nowadays.
Here's the other thing I'm noticing - that all of us intuitives, light bringers, healers, adventurers on the leading edge, are going through one, whopping, identity transformation. The ways we've done things before aren't working any more.
You may be an 'expert' in your field and have lost all interest in it. You may have had a dedicated practice for 25+ years and yet something is happening with it. You might be questioning your calling or life purpose.
Things feel and look different. Things are different. And it requires a whole new way of navigating.
So now what?
Here's what I invite you to do, it's what worked for me when everything fell apart twelve years ago. I had to do the *exact opposite* of everything I'd been rigorously trained in - of everything I'd taught others to do for 25+ years.
We have to unlearn the old in order to come to know the new.
Approach life as an experiment. Try different things with curiosity and wonder. Try even *not* doing anything and see what happens.
For me, I had to upgrade all my skills and techniques. It was a very difficult time, going from an energy "expert" to needing a 'beginners mind' at every moment.
And if you want more support with all of this, check out my summer coaching!

What Does The Consciousness Shift Feel or Look Like?
On December 21st, 2012, there was supposed to be a dynamic evolutionary event. A disaster movie was made about it. People said that not everybody was going to survive it. Even I was saying, back then, that everyone was going to be changed. But we all woke up on December 22nd, 2012, and everything seemed the same.
Now, I'm still talking about the Consciousness shift, that everyone is going through it, just that people are using different words to describe it. People are experiencing it in their own unique ways.
What happened back in 2012 was a shift, beyond the Mayan Calendar moving into a new 5,000 year cycle. Everything seemed the same, because the hologram isn't fundamentally different. But we did go through an "upgrade", and actually the internal design continues to change.
Consciousness Shifts don't necessarily happen overnight, unless you're Byron Katie or Eckart Tolle. And they don't necessarily look like instant enlightenment. Although they can.
Everyone has their own timing. The Shift that I experienced happened in 2006, over about a year or two. And it hasn't stopped.
For me it is an evolution. 2006 was a very difficult period, since all my beliefs were turned upside down and inside out. But, honestly, if I look back over my life, there's been upheavals and paradigm shifts every few years. However, 2006 accelerated me on my path in a very noticeable way.
What does the Consciousness Shift feel or look like? It can look like a breakdown and breakthrough. Your life may fall apart and rebuild. You may lose all hope and sense of purpose, and then your inner world reorganizes. Or it may be exhilarating and exciting. Like you've found the missing piece to the puzzle.
You might have greater clarity, more access to your inner knowing. And/or you may dive deep into fighting against things you resist, to dismantle everything that seems to be in the way of your path.
Some people might be very frightened at this time. Because their reality seems to be breaking down. Everything they believed in, even their own identities, who they thought they were, is disintegrating.
We can see that reflected in the outside world by increased aggression, authoritarianism, dominance. Those are old power games that are impotent in this new reality. Those that felt defined by these measurements, are extremely threatened.
How you're experiencing it depends on how you perceive reality, and what you hold to be real. If you're a visual person, the world may be starting to look very different. There may be some days where colors look sharper, things look brighter and more defined. Or it looks like you're on a movie set like in the Truman show.
I feel things internally, so I'm noticing heightened sensitivity, extreme empathic and telepathic impressions (I've tuned in to my family members for years but it's now 100% more intense). And my inner energy system feels different. Yet again.
When I try to judge what's happening to me through old filters, I could say I'm being spacey, ungrounded, that I'm not owning my space. But that puts me into a space of effort and resistance (very familiar energies but they don't feel good nor are they productive).
Whatever is going on for you, it's most likely part of this Consciousness shift. Validate the changes you're going through. It's not happening to you, it's you embodying your greater Self as Consciousness, and that's causing a seismic shift in everyone's reality.
When I accept that the change I'm experiencing is just another part of the shift, it's less uncomfortable. I can allow to it be different. I'm excited to see how it unfolds. I invite you to do the same!

When Getting Back On Track Reveals A Completely Different Path
It's been a hard couple of years. Something happened that knocked me off course. When I look back, I can recognize certain signs. In January of last year, I started having reactions to the house I was living in, I felt it had turned toxic on me. And since I work from home, there was no escaping it.
And then my dog started having seizures. We had just bought tickets to visit my son who was in school in Germany and I asked the vet whether we should go. She said the seizures were unpredictable and the tests didn't indicate anything serious that we could do anything about. And she said she was a believer in going ahead and living your life.
So we went, and when we got back, our dog was limping. It turned out that what we thought was arthritis and a benign fatty lump on her leg, was actually cancer. So we had a horrific four weeks while she died on our kitchen floor.
And right after that our landlord gave us notice. Which was fine with me, since the house was toxic. (We later found mold throughout the basement, and evidence it had been painted over prior to our moving there in 2013). But we didn't find a new place to live until 7 days before we had to be out of there.
But that was last year. And this year has been fairly calm. The new place is wonderful, clean, and spacious. But something is still off course.
And when I look back, it had started before all the things with the previous house. Although all those things occurred because it was definitely time for us to move.
So what was it? I've been telling people I've been going through a phase of feeling like an atheist. I thought it was simply because I'd shifted to a new level of Consciousness, where the personality had gone out of it. But it really was a spiritual void. What happened?
I'd completely forgotten being side swiped by the election at the end of 2016.
Someone had texted me that night saying, "what parallel universe are we in"???
I'm pretty good in a crisis so I took the event in my stride, but it did really feel like we were all shoved into an alternate reality.
And, honestly, it caused me to doubt my work. Because I teach people that they can create their reality. And who the fuck wants to own creating this bullshit we've been going through since 2016??
So then I shifted into this space of just responding to is whatever showing up. Going ahead and living my life. None of this visualization, none of this law of attraction, just being with what is. But it hasn't been easy.
And my sensitivity has gone through the roof. I feel all sorts of people's reality. And a lot of the time it gets validated (someone texts, someone posts on Facebook, I can see in real time who I'm sensing).
But the noise from the collective is overwhelming.
A couple weeks ago, I had to get off Twitter, which helps a little bit. But I stay on Facebook because of family and friends. So I react to the memes there and still have big, fat, opinions about the news.
I'm pretty pissed off with what's going on in the external story line. And it feels wrong to be detached from it. It feels wrong to be doing well when so much is being destroyed and so many people are in pain. And I want to manipulate the shit out of reality.
But I only feel this way when I'm totally disconnected from myself as Consciousness. When I'm aligned as my higher self, I can see what's unfolding as all part of the greater expansion.
When I'm aligned as my higher self, I know that it's ultimately getting better. I know that we're *all* very capable, Infinite beings, individually creating our reality.
Observing what is happening in the world from the perspective of Consciousness, it's all very exciting. The more capable we are, the more creative our story lines. We're collectively becoming very capable. We're not off course, we moved to a more challenging one.
Navigating at this level is intuitively driven, an art, not a science. As Consciousness there isn't anything to change, fix, or improve. It all reorganized in our favor.
And that's what I need to remember. As Consciousness, it's a benevolent Universe. Even when it doesn't seem like it on the outside, I know, as Consciousness, all is very, very well.
