Bellyflopping Through Life (c) 2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
I swear, my autobiography should be titled, "Bellyflopping Through Life". I can't plan, analyze, or read a book about it first, I have to dive in and experience something and then figure out how to do it with more finesse next time.
However, if I waited until it's perfect, I would have missed many fabulous opportunities and not created most of the amazing miracles of my life.
The last three years has been like a spiritual MBA as I've been learning how to offer my work into the world in a bigger way. There's been a lot of bellyflopping, and my stomach is stinging a bit as I share this.
Everything is finally coming together and the official launch of my new program(s) and website is set for January. But I didn't want to spend the next month just fiddling with details. So I decided to open the doors early just to people who already know me and my work.
I'm extremely grateful to all of you guys who have stuck with me during this time. I've gifted you a 3 part video series, sharing insights and a specific tool for creating change as Consciousness. Go here to view them, if you haven't seen them already.
Today is the first day for you Very Important People to access my brand new Do It Yourself program. This program has only been available as private coaching or selectively small group coaching. I'm excited to make this information available to more people in the world!
You can opt to have more support, either on a group level or individual coaching level at any time as well.
There are extra bonuses if you sign up before next Tuesday, December 5th.
Then I will close the doors until I open to the general public in January.
Go here to learn more!

Psychic Kindergarten vs. Quantum University
Psychic Kindergarten vs. Quantum University ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
My original training in metaphysics was at a mystery school that described itself as a psychic kindergarten. It meant that we learn by doing. Nothing was written down, it was conducted in an oral tradition, classes were experiential.
I always felt that everyone needed that basic training, especially from a young age. How would the world be different if we all learned how to manage our energy as children, connect with our inner wisdom, and the rudiments of manifestation?
I still do feel that way, and there are a lot of people out there teaching these basic principles. This information is easily available to you. In fact, I recommend a couple great books:

I still do feel that way, and there are a lot of people out there teaching these basic principles. This information is easily available to you. In fact, I recommend a couple great books:
Basic Psychic Development: A User's Guide to Auras, Chakra & Clairvoyance by John Friedlander and Gloria Hemsher.
More people in the world attend kindergarten (or grade school) than University. You could say that you need to go through the early training to get to the next level, but that's not necessarily the case.
I had one student who said she needed the original training (that I was teaching at the time) to be open to the next level. But for some people, it gets in the way. Practitioners of ancient systems may have an especially difficult time transitioning. Yet there are other people with no background in energy work at all, lawyers and accountants and the like, who take to these new Consciousness techniques like ducks to water.
There are less people attending Quantum University, partly because this is a new emerging field. It's on the leading edge, so not a lot of people know about it, it is just coming into awareness.
Quantum University doesn't seem to require taking the SAT or GCSE, but in getting to the level or desire and interest, to step into Consciousness training, one has usually overcome some hurdles in life.
The entrance requirement is willingness and commitment. A willingness to invest in one's own transformation and a commitment completely change one's life.
And as I reflect on this, I realize that the work I do is post-graduate level. And a better metaphor is Jedi-Mastery (without the light sabers and dark side scenarios). I've jokingly considered calling myself 'Joan Kenobi', although I'm feeling more like Yoda nowadays...
I work individually with people who are fully committed and focused, and who are ready to leave behind their fears, the old worries about money, time, health or whatever. I call it Conscious Mastery and the techniques I've developed (and am developing) 'Consciousness Techniques' - you won't find them anywhere else.
Someone described me as a 'teacher's teacher', for people are spiritual teachers and energy workers ready to move to their next level.
We're all coming into our own. Our own increased Consciousness, our own Inner Wisdom, and it's requiring that we 'upgrade' our old ways of being. It's unfolding effortlessly.
You can choose to enter Quantum University, or play in Psychic Kindergarten. There's nothing you *have* to do. You can just show up and see what happens.
If you are ready to for advanced Masters level training in Consciousness, I have space now open in my Private Mentorship program, and receive my individual attention to create a complete transformation! Email me to find out if it is a fit for you!

Autocorrect Manifestations
Autocorrect Manifestations ©2015 Joan Newcomb
My computer runs autocorrect on everything I write, sometimes changing words *as* I type them. Some days I spend more time correcting the darned autocorrect than writing!
When you begin the process of conscious manifestation, it often seems like the Universe has it's own autocorrect. What you ask for shows up as something slightly different. It can be comical, or irritating.
If you're balding you may ask for more hair, and it begins growing out of your ears. You work on manifesting money, and it comes as an insurance check paying the mechanic for fixing your car.
Creating your reality is more an art than a science.
Resisting the autocorrect just creates more effort and slows down the manifesting process. Go with the flow, making slight adjustments, and you steer in the right direction.
For instance, I'm now grateful for slow cars that get in front of me when I'm driving. They can protect me from speeding tickets!
Stepping back and looking at this from the perspective of Consciousness, you can see or sense the neverending flow moving into form. It is always loving. It is always light.
As it moves into the lower atmosphere, it encounters distortions. What originated as pure intention manifests in the shadows as something murky.
"Autocorrect" is really your gallery of assumptions and expectations. It assumes what you're about to create, but it doesn't know the full story. It bases its 'corrections' on previous usage or manifestations.
Yet, if you turned off autocorrect, and completely received the pure intention, what shows up may be more than you bargained for! A winning lottery ticket brings all sorts of new challenges, from paying taxes on it to fielding requests from friends and relatives.
What are we really asking for, anyway? Are we really asking for more hair, more money, more love? When you step back and look at it, you can see all these requests going from form to Consciousness, and they're all seeking more light, more freedom, more wholeness.
As Consciousness we are focusing into form, creating our creations, like sunlight onto seedlings. It is US coming into density.
What happens with our requests is that we are creating expections for how we want to receive Source Energy, what it's supposed to look like when it shows up. Our specifications are limitations.
And, sometimes they repel what we're asking for!
There are lots of ways to change this pattern. You can meditate so you can receive more clearly. You can de-energize stuck pictures, either clairvoyantly or through something like EFT or EMDR. You can run frequencies such as Christforce Gold or use my waterfall technique to raise your body's ability to have more. Or use Consciousness Techniques to create instantaneous change.
The Universe isn't autocorrecting you. And it isn't something coming to you from outside of yourself. YOU are Consciousness, flowing into form. Your body/personality is the form that you created to experience physical reality. You're really both, dancing with yourself.
Shift your perspective to yourself AS Consciousness, and you're in agreement with all that manifests, imperfectly perfect in your life.
Play with this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

Do You Feel Like An Imposter? (Don't We All)?
Do You Feel Like An Imposter? (Don't We All)? ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb
Have you ever felt like you didn't belong, or were just "faking it until you make it"? Maybe you were promoted at work, or won a prize, something you felt absolutely certain that you didn't deserve.
We've all been there, and some of the most high-achieving of us feel it more than others. Will Smith confessed on a talk show that he wakes up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I've known independently wealthy people who need to have enough money for an entire year in their bank account, when someone else feels financially confident with a monthly paycheck.
If you grew up in a dysfunctional family, you may have felt uncomfortable when you started school. All the other kids seemed to have normal parents. Or you may have been the only one in your family to break out of the restrictive patterns, they may have felt something was wrong with you, because you were the only one to not end up in jail, but graduated high school and went to college.
As you evolve as Consciousness, embodying more of your Essential Energy, you start to feel expansive and wonderful. It feels so heady, it may make you question if this is real. You're so used to feeling less than, there must be something wrong with you if you feel more than!
Anita Moorjani had an out of body experience when she was dying of cancer. Her organs had shut down and the doctor told her husband she had 'hours' to live. Instead, she woke up, and within a week all her tumors had disappeared (they insisted on putting her through chemotherapy 'just in case'). She came back in with the awareness that we are Magnificent, and that her cancer was caused by her own fears.
Magnificent is a great description for how it feels as Consciousness. I've experienced it in body and I've felt expansive, limited, and immense Love. It's powerful as in empowering or potent, but not dominating. It's an awareness that I'm loved and special, and you are, too.
We feel like an imposter when our insides don't match our outsides. And, our insides DON'T match our outsides!! Our body is limited, it is a dense collection of vibrating atoms, within a collection of dense patterns, within this three-D full immersion Wii game. WE are Consciousness, unlimited, beyond time and space. Our insides is vaster than our outer appearance.
And it's okay. This planet of Density and Effort is meant to be dichotomous. It is a planet of opposites. We come here to feel all the feelings, which include discomfort, pain, sadness, grief as well as ecstacy and joy and happiness and love.
If you can just hold that inner awareness, that inner knowing, of who You truly are, you can effortlessly navigate the rockiest of paths or the most unfortunate circumstances.
Relax into your knowingness, and see what happens. Try this for seven days and your world will transform!

Nobody's Ascending Anywhere
Nobody's Ascending Anywhere ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb
One of my readers asked me some great questions "what's going on vis-a-vis the overall evolution of mankind. Are some" developed" people going to ascend by 2024? 2014 has passed and we're still here."
I answered this in a recent Mystic Minute Video, and wanted to spell it out more clearly here: ain't nobody ascending anywhere.
Yes, we talk about an acceleration in Consciousness. We talk about the vibration rising, getting more sensitive and Aware. But the impression is that at some point we'll become so advanced, we'll just vibrate out of our bodies and disappear into the 5th Dimension.
That's how it feels to our bodies and from our personality's perspective. We can't imagine existing at a higher vibration, we can't comprehend anything but 3-D.
Consciousness is already 5D. Consciousness is beyond the hologram, outside of D altogether. Even D is part of the illusion.
Consciousness embodies reality but is outside of it as well. In Consciousness, there is no time or space, everything is happening at once.
So whenever we try to put things into linear measurements, it's our personality trying to figure it out. Oh, I must be going up in vibration (no, Consciousness is coming more into form). Oh, I must be ascending, I must be developing more (no, you're just experiencing yourself AS Consciousness more, and as Consciousness you're infinite, beyond levels of development).
Back before 2012 they said some people weren't going to make it. They imagined mass destruction. All limited and undeveloped people would die. And, dangit, the politicians and religious fanatics are still here.
Although, if you notice, they're all going more crazy than before. That's because their old paradigms and rigid belief systems are disintegrating and it's freaking them out.
And, guess what, they're Consciousness, too.
To our bodies, and our personalities, it feels like things are going faster. Time progresses that way, to form. But past, present, and future, is all happening simultaneously to Consciousness.
The best way to handle this it to be in present time, in the NOW. You're body feels calmer when focused on the present moment. When you do that, things feel like they're slowing down.
Play with this all - viewing life from Consciousness, being Present, for the next seven days and see what happens!

God Has No Personality and What Pain Has To Do With It.
God Has No Personality ©2015 Joan M Newcomb
I try to talk about spiritual subjects without using religious references. I even try not to use the word spiritual. I've been talking a lot about Consciousness lately because, to me, it's a more accurate description of who we are, both individually and collectively.
I was raised in a religious family. We said prayers at every meal, at bedtime, and went to Church every Sunday. For my mother it was an internal experience, and she lived her faith. My father did his best to show our religion externally.
My own definition of God went through many incarnations, peeling away the layers to what Essence felt like. My biggest stumbling block was the Christian 'God The Father' which, in my experience was not compassionate nor benevolent. My biggest breakthrough was calling it Universe. My prayers were conversations while driving. I always began with 'hey, U'!
For years I'd also journal my conversations, writing my questions and then scribing what I perceived was the response. The replies weren't verbal, but more impressions. It was frustrating because I'd list all my complaints and the answers would be very benign. I realized that my grievances were like standing in front of a tree with my face pressed into the bark, and God was showing me a forest, with many pathways.
At some point, the Universe itself became a feeling, an impression. When I shifted my attention, the world around me changed. Colors became brighter, everything came into sharp focus.
There's been several spiritual awakenings, when I'd be enveloped in Love. In Love with the Universe, with my life, with myself. I'd still have the same problems, but I knew all would be very, very well. No matter what drama was going on, I remain centered. The longest this lasted was for nine months. It would be wonderful to tip over into it again permanently.
One time I was struggling, and resisting the concept of an external God. After all, I AM Spirit, I AM my Inner Being. The answer came to me that it doesn't matter how you interact with the Divine. You can have God the Father, God the Authority, God outside of yourself, God inside, many Gods, and no God/s at all. It's all go(o)d.
So now I dance with Consciousness. With the awareness of my Self as Consciousness, knowing this is all a creation of Consciousness. And this morning, my journaling started to veer off into personality level narrative. Painful emotions arose. I shifted my perspective, and felt Consciousness flow through my body. Pain dissipated.
This stayed with me as I walked my dog. What I noticed was an impassive appreciation for the world. We created this reality to experience the opposite of who we really are. Emotions are part of that experience. Bodies are our vehicles to feeling this reality. Personality is what we create in order to be visible to others and distinguishable by others.
If it has emotions and a personality, it's a physical level projection.
Consciousness has no personality. Consciousness feels immense, and clear. The body delights in Consciousness, there's an absence of pain when fully embodied. And yet pain comes up in the process of embodiment. As we come into form, we feel more. When you shine more light into a place, it reveals emotions and physical sensations. I am now finding that pain disappears when fully Conscious.
What does pain have to do with it? Pain makes the body feel real. Pain is a physical reaction. We've used pain to anchor us here. Pain is a reminder to focus within. When your fully focused within, pain goes away. Or, your definition of pain shifts, and it doesn't feel painful, or bother you any more. It's not denying, resisting, or ignoring it. It's bringing full awareness to it.
Becoming fully conscious requires anchoring into the body. You miss the point of being here by leaving the body or going outside it in order to be more spiritual. You're already Spirit, you don't need to be more so. You just need to be more here.
You can get there by focusing inward, by connecting to to 'anchor points' within form. You can anchor in the lower abdomen. You can anchor in your solar plexus. You can anchor deep into your heart. You can anchor in the center of your brain. You will find, as you bring your full attention into any or all of these places, that it's quite spacious inside you. These anchor points aren't fixed, they go on and on, deeper and deeper. You are still here, and also there.
Play with all of this for the next 7 days and see what happens!

Are You Making New or Repeating Old?
Are You Making New or Repeating Old? ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb
All of our creations are our babies. Whether you're planting a garden, writing a novel, putting together a fishtank, or building a house, you are utilizing your creative energy to give birth to something physically.
HOW TO MAKE A HUMAN
first, love
All of our creations are our babies. Whether you're planting a garden, writing a novel, putting together a fishtank, or building a house, you are utilizing your creative energy to give birth to something physically.
How do you bring your desires into form?
I looked at the process of giving birth from the standpoint of Consciousness, and these are the steps:
HOW TO MAKE A HUMAN
second, weave patterns together
third, narrow focus these patterns so they become dense
forth, from the woven patterns, density becomes matter within the boundaries of time and space
fifth, matter, an embodiment of love, gestates in a pool of perceptions
sixth, when it’s time is ripe, matter emerges into the storyline to weave it’s own story and patterns.
third, narrow focus these patterns so they become dense
forth, from the woven patterns, density becomes matter within the boundaries of time and space
fifth, matter, an embodiment of love, gestates in a pool of perceptions
sixth, when it’s time is ripe, matter emerges into the storyline to weave it’s own story and patterns.
That last part, the sixth step, applies more to human beings but if you think about it, your fishtank or garden does have it's own storyline. My fishtank was supposed to be populated with 9 fish, eight gold or red, and one black, but the first fish I put in there turned out to be pregnant so within a week I had 20 little black fish. It took a few months before I got the right combination in there. It had it's own storyline beyond my agenda/intention for it!
This week, I was meditating on bringing a desire into form, tuning into it as a thought and imagining it becoming dense. And I caught myself - instead of bringing in new energy, as it became dense, I was focusing on what I did NOT want to create!
In other words, I was focusing on all the things that hadn't worked in the past, rather than this new idea I wanted to create.
Has this ever happened to you? You apply all the Law of Attraction or the Secret techniques and instead of getting what you want, you get a repeat of the same old stuff.
I manifested my current husband in nine weeks, by very deliberately stating what I *wanted* in a relationship. Any time my thoughts strayed to a list of complaints about my exes, I'd metaphorically grab myself by the ears and make counteracting statements!
When you work on consciously creating a dream or desire, *don't* focus on making them dense! *DO* narrow your focus to exactly what you want (leaving room for your Consciousness aspect of yourself to bring it in more perfectly or greater than you can imagine)!
Realize that your perceptions color or shape your manifestation, so release limited or distorted ones!

The Deva of Money and Morphic Fields
The Deva of Money and Morphic Fields ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb
This morning I had a little chat with the Deva of Money and I thought I'd share it with you.
Devas are the unseen architects of Nature, they design things to be brought into physical form. They hold qualities and communities as well. There's a Deva of Broccolli that oversees all the brocolli plants on the planet. There's a Deva of Patience that you can talk to in Friday afternoon commuter traffic. There's a Deva of the country that you live in.
I know of someone who personafies the Deva of Money with a sexual connotation, which works for them. For me, it feels entangled with cultural history of women being dependent on men financially.
The Deva of Money, as I feel it, is light, bright, clear and impersonal, like the ocean, like God. The ocean is not vindictive, the ocean takes and gives, the ocean provides for wildlife and the planet.
You fall in the ocean and drown, it’s not murdering you. Sharks eat you, they are feeding, being sharks. Your alertness keeps you from falling in the ocean, but what about boats going down, what about hurricanes and typhoons? Weather is not personal, it is patterns, it is part of the interweaving design of this world.
Many of us are entangled in the morphic field of poverty and deprevation, lost in the "funhouse mirror" maze of distortions.
The Deva of Money invites you to come out, come into agreement with the flow.
Wealthy people grok the flow, yet multiple flows are happening all at once, which is why they can be assholes and rich, or why they can be personality deprived and opulent. They may be focused on money but not in integrity with relationships.
The game on this planet is to experience life, the game may or may not be coming into balance. it may be a goal in the game, we all get to set goals as part of the game.
All your feelings about money, all your opinions about rich people, distance you from having it in your life.
This week, sit and tune into the Deva of Money for yourself. Notice your first impressions. What does it feel like, look like, sound like, smell like, ??
Have a conversation with it. Have a pen and paper handy, jot down what you think it's communicating with you (unless you're extraordinarily clairaudient, you may get visual images or thought/ideas rather than actual words).
Dance with it energetically this week, and see how your life transforms!

Values and Worth
Values and Worth ©2015 Joan Newcomb
What's most important in life for you? Where do you focus 90% of your attention? What do you spend most of your money on? Do you feel satisfied with your life?
The answer to these questions may - or may *not* give you a clue about your core values.
For instance, your children may be of the utmost importance, so you work two jobs to support them, but you never get to see them, because you're working, so you don't feel satisfied with your life.
Perhaps you spend most of your money on clothes, because you want to appear fashionable but you really you feel like the geeky kid you were in middle school.
These are examples where you aren't living your life in alignment with your values. Your sense self worth is affected.
Sometimes what you *don't* spend money on also reflects your values.
When you know what your values are, it helps you make decisions. You may value relationships. You may value communication. But you make $300 an hour at Microsoft spending most of your day debugging software in a room by yourself. Now you understand why you're rich, but not happy.
Perhaps your top values are honesty and integrity, and you're dating someone charming and handsome but who compulsively lies. You now know whether or not to stay in the relationship.
Spiritual, emotional and material values don't always harmonize. Your family may value hard worth and fiscal responsibility, but you value creativity and freedom. Your Church may say they follow the values of Christ and yet aren't compassionate or nonjudgemental.
Don't allow others to determine your worth. You are priceless. You are a gift to this world. You are Consciousness here to enhance the collective experience by being uniquely YOU.
Your core values are clues to your life purpose. You're here to express yourself as Consciousness in physical form. Your artistic abilities are your spiritual language. If you write, if you sing, if you dance, if you act, if you paint, if you knit, if you cook, if you garden, it is the greater aspect of you communicating the essence of who you are.
To identify your top core values, take this questionnaire.
Hope this helps you navigate life in the direction of your choice!

And Now For Something Completely Different
And Now For Something Completely Different ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb
Think of something you want in your life. Is it a new (or renewed) relationship, a successful career, more money, less weight, better health?
How would You have to be different?
Look back on your life, have you ever had that thing that you want? What did it feel like? What changed when you didn't have it anymore? Maybe you've never had it, it's always been just out of reach.
You keep saying, 'oh I just wish I had' more money, but reject suggestions on how to create it. It's too hard, it would take too much effort, you'd "sell out to The Man".
"I wish I had a relationship" and yet everything about your life keeps people out rather than lets someone in. Really sharing intimacy is scary. Being alone is like living in a house with no mirrors.
You never lost that 'baby weight', or all women gain weight at menopause, or powerful men (or women) carry more weight. Being thin feels vulnerable. Being thin means unwanted attention.
Health patterns, body gets sick, body has pain, body feels discomfort. It's always been that way, my dad had the same problem, it's genetic. No matter how hard I try, I can't... (fill in the blank).
If you had what you wanted, what would you lose? Maybe your partner wouldn't take care of you anymore? Maybe you wouldn't attract someone in your life to take care of you?
Maybe people wouldn't like you anymore if you were (whatever it is)? You'd lose your friends.
Rich people are unconscious. Wealthy people just care about their money. You can't be spiritual and prosperous.
I can want that thing, but I can't have it because...
Argue for your limitation, and they're yours (Richard Bach). Just because something has always been that way, doesn't mean it can't be different.
In order to have what you want in your life, you have to change your core identification. Start thinking of yourself as a thin person. An abundant and generous person. Someone in partnership.
What does success feel like?
A couple decades ago, Shirley Maclaine was on the Oprah Winfrey show. Oprah made a comment about weight and Shirley looked at her and said, if you want to lose weight, you'll have to want everything to be different (or words to that effect). After that, Oprah turned into a stick. It was her first bout with weight loss, and it wasn't healthy.
Then Oprah moved into a phase of running marathons, her weight stabilized. She was at a place of gaining power and strength, both in body and in her life.
Then Oprah radically put on weight again. She shared about having thyroid problems. She probably entered menopause. What was also happening, she was developing a network station (beyond just her TV show). Her weight ballooned as she expanded into this new aspect of power in her life.
Now she's had her network for a while, it looks like her weight is going back down.
Oprah's a wonderful example of changing her reality, and bringing up core issues we all struggle with.
Whatever is most elusive in your life, you are propelling away from you in your beliefs. You may be comfortable in your discomfort. Misery is familiar, joy is not.
At the end of an energy session, I tell people to 'notice what is different'. If you go, well that didn't change anything, you've reset yourself back to the state you were in when you walked in the door.
Healthy people made different choices (about food, about lifestyle, about...). People in relationship share their lives, make space for someone in their world.
If you've never had whatever it is you want, you may not know what it feels like. Be willing to step into the unfamiliar. Open yourself to being different.
You may be in a family system, or a constellation of friends, that support the way you are, but not something functional or healthy. Be willing for the old to fall away. Maybe you can be a shining example for others to follow!
What would it take for you to have what you want? Are you willing to go to any length to be healthy?
Maybe people in your life actually want you to be happy, or to have what it is you desire. Notice if you deflect other's suggestions.
You claim you want to be thinner, people only see you eating salads, but not the ice cream in the middle of the night.
You bemoan being poor but never follow through on those help wanted ads on Craigs List. A little voice in your head sabotages your efforts. Who needs enemies when your own thoughts are doing such a good job at holding you back?
You can be thin after menopause, you can be healthy and people still like you, you can have money and free time as well.
Changing your reality is as simple as shifting states. Step to one side or another, and you've stepped into a parallel reality where that is possible. Notice what is different.
Notice when the 'Automatic Negative Thoughts' come up, and ignore them. Don't feed the ANTs with your attention.
Healthy food tastes better. Good men (or women) aren't so hard to find. There's a perfect job out there with a wonderful work environment.
Shift your focus and you'll see all the new possibilities.
Make one change in your routine, take a walk after dinner instead of watching tv. Have fruit for dessert.
Imagine the world wanting your success. Your attaining what you desire encourages others to have it as well.
Whatever transformation you want, Your expanded self already is there. Step into that new reality.
If it's earning or working, be different with your time. Catch yourself on your 'time wasters' and spend 15 minutes tackling something on your 'to do' list.
If it's money, be different with your spending. Start tracking your numbers, save receipts, look at where you are leaking money. Clarity can be a big relief.
If it's food, write down everything you eat. Make different choices. Stop drinking anything with calories. Choose water or tea with lemon.
If it's relationship, notice whether (or where) you hang out with other people. If all you date are alcoholics, stop hanging out in bars! Meet people for coffee rather than drinks!
Is there room in your life for someone, or is half of your bed piled high with books?
Yes, you've heard this all before, but nothing changes if you change nothing. Stop spinning your wheels.
"The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off!" (Gloria Steinem)
Perhaps you have to get angry to get out of your rut!
Sometimes we claim we want something, and it's actually something else we really desire. What would make you happy?
The Universe wants to give you what you're asking for. Can you have it?

Truth, Toxic Patterns, and Train Wrecks
Truth, Toxic Patterns, and Train Wrecks ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb
Some say we can never go home again. But we can always revisit old, familiar situations. The challenge is to dip down into the pattern, and come back up again without getting entangled!
It helps to remember that they're just energy. It's when we believe that they're real we get stuck in them.
Here's what I'm remembering, from my most recent 'dip down':
A couple of decades ago I was involved with a cocaine addict. I started going to Al-Anon, and a year later the addict quit using and went into recovery. Then I discovered addiction showing up in my work place, and then my church at the time. Sometimes I'd realize I was in a toxic situation by my reaction to it, the alcoholic or addict not becoming evident until later.
I learned that it wasn't the person who was addicted, but the energy patterns that I was responding to.
One thing I learned was that often the addict seems fine, but people around them are bouncing off the walls and foaming at the mouth. It's because the people around them are experiencing the painful situation unmedicated.
People who grow up in alcoholic households can become extremely controlling, because they're trying to make their environment safe (having grown up in out-of-control homes). Or people who grow up in addictive households will act like alcoholics without actually being chemically dependent.
It's different when you've come from an abusive background. You can have a parent who is alcoholic and yet know that they love you. Your parent (or partner) can be an addict, but they don't verbally or physically abuse you. It still messes with your head, because their focus is going towards their drug of choice. You're not receiving their full attention, or you feel crazy from their lies.
Abusers are a different story. They make you feel like it's your fault they're abusing you Alcoholics at least can hit bottom and recover and make amends. Abusers hardly ever recover, they feel entitled to treat their partners and children the way they do.
When an abuser leaves, they set up a pre-emptive strike, they make themselves the victim.
It's especially crazy-making when they go on to reinvent themselves as the most wonderful and loving person in the world - and that new world believes them. The abuse continues by treating the previous family members with contempt, as second class citizens, the new partner unwittingly enables the abuser by believing their version of history.
It's different than when an alcoholic recovers and goes on to live a life of sobriety. They can become the most wonderful and loving person in the world, but they acknowledge their past, have made amends. (And, admittedly, there are alcoholics that haven't made amends, so their new life isn't emotionally or mentally clean and sober).
How the hell do you recover from all of that?
It takes a lot of light.
Distance helps. Detachment helps. Recovery helps. Therapy helps. Spiritual practice helps. Speaking your truth, standing in your own light.
I've been out of active alcoholic patterns for a lot of years. I've been away from abusers (and narcissists, while we're at it), for years as well. I've been focusing on my own path, on the leading edge of Consciousness, evolving, shining light.
Of course, as you grow, move forward, you uncover new layers of things. When you're remodeling your spiritual house, you'll find stuff within the walls, even the structure, that require updating.
You create opportunities to clear, you step yourself into experiences to illuminate what needs to change.
I remember when I took a strong step away from the pattern of alcoholism, and this was after a decade of Al-Anon, I had an amazing Spiritual Awakening. I felt in Love with God, in Love with my life, and in Love with myself (in that order). Even though I still had the same challenges with being a single parent and keeping a roof over our heads, I was in this highly conscious state, able to come back to center.
This feeling recurred a few years later, when I identified a new issue, stepping away from a new addictive pattern. This time I was in Love with mySelf, in Love with my life, and in Love with God (in that order).
So. Something new is happening, I haven't fully identified it. I could say that I'm moving to 4D, but in reality we are all already there.
I think we've all shifted to a new level of Consciousness, we're all running a higher vibration, and what doesn't match that vibration in our bodies or our lives is disintegrating.
An opportunity to live more in integrity with our values?
As we're at this higher vibration, we may dip down into older patterns, but it's not useful to wrestle with them. Shine light on them. Speak your Truth and step back. Be in your own authority and seniority.
Wave bye-bye to the chunks of patterns as they fall away. Stand in your own Light (it feels better there, anyway).

You Are Psychic
©2008 Joan M. Newcomb

You are psychic, although you may not call it that. You may be sensitive to certain things, feel intuitive at times, or have "hunches". You may dismiss your first impressions and later have them validated. Perhaps you've been thinking of someone and then they phoned or emailed -- coincidence, right?
No, you're psychic.
We're all psychic, to some degree or another. Psychic is from the Greek word psychikos which means 'of the soul', or 'spirit'. If you've got soul, you're psychic.
Or, more accurately, since you're spirit with a human body, you *are* spirit, so you are psychic.
Think of you're innate talents or abilities. Are you a very visual person? Then you're naturally clairvoyant - images come easily to you. Are you naturally sensitive to the atmosphere in places, or other people's emotions? Then you're empathic - you sense through your feelings. If you're musical or attuned to hearing, you could be clairaudient - you hear vibrations. Or voices, which is also telepathic.
How do you develop your ability? The first step is to validate it. When you think of someone and shortly thereafter run into them - validate your precognition. If you go to work one morning and have this sinking feeling, and later learn that several coworkers were laid off, validate your empathic ability. The more you validate it, the more frequently it'll show up.
Since it's your spiritual ability, focusing on your spiritual development will enhance your 'psychic-ness'. Learning to meditate, turning within and 'tuning into' your own energy will strengthen it. There are some good books and teachers out there. I recommend "Basic Psychic Development: A User's Guide to Auras, Chakra & Clairvoyance" by John Friedlander and Gloria Hemsher, anything by Sonia Choquette and also John Edward (the guy who talks to dead people, not Edwards the politician).
For those of you on or near Vashon Island, I'm starting a class series next week which leads up to psychic reader training and will definitely give you the ABC's of energy awareness.
Someone asked me, 'how do you control it?' because they have deceased people just show up unannounced. My initial response is - how do you control your hearing or seeing? Being psychic can be like living in an apartment building with too thin walls - how do you stop your neighbor's noise? You can actually 'dial down' your awareness, it just takes practice and focus.
Being psychic can also feel lonely, like you're an opera singer amongst deaf people, or a master painter in a blind world. The majority of people don't acknowledge the symphony of sound and color that is out there. The truth is, folks just don't talk about it.
Sometimes you have to initiate the conversation, and you'll discover your Mom's been talking to your deceased father for the last three years. You may have to soften your language - use 'intuition' instead of 'psychic', or 'feeling' or 'impression'. You'll find that others may be delighted that you brought up the subject, because they've been feeling lonely too.
Acknowledging extra sensory perception is validating that each of us is more than our body. Most of us are longing to be recognized as spirit; it's the essence of who we really are.
So I invite you to notice and affirm your extra *spiritual* perception, it will definitely make your world a brighter place!
