Why The Pendulum Swings; How To Find Balance In Extreme Times.

The Pendulum Swings; How To Find Balance In Extreme Times. ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

This is a powerful time. We have a lot going on energetically, astrologically, and reflecting into the world and the news around us. I’ve been taking a few days off my regular work schedule... and have taken nearly a week off Twitter. To reclaim equilibrium.

Outrage can be exhausting. At the same time outrage spurs you to action, to doing something. We are collectively speaking out. That is awesome.

It's one thing if you're exhausted. It's another if you feel paralyzed and need to reclaim power.

It feels like the 1930's again, that we're on a verge of a horrendous war with horrendous things already going on. And that the actions we each must take will determine our future. Like leaving the country before it falls to the Nazis.

And yet the U.S. is not Germany nor a country in Europe. I know folks who went to Canada and New Zealand during the Bush era and missed the Obama era.

We forget how bad the Bush era was. And this seems worse. And yet the pendulum swings.

Why is that? Why can’t we have stabile growth and steady improvement? Why does it always seem like steps forwards are followed by steps backward?

Is it that some of us are ready to ascend and the rest have other ideas?

I see this Consciousness shift affecting all of us, but we’re awakening at different times. It’s like watching the Wave at a baseball game. Some are stuffing their faces with opcorn when their time rolls around.

Some find balance only by going to extremes. The rest of us need to develop ‘sea legs’ to maintain our equilibrium around them.

When I think back to the Bush era, I simply stopped reading the newspaper. For 16 years (the Lewinsky scandal kept me reading only the comics section). That kind of reaction doesn't seem possible to do nowadays, we're all connected more. There's this collective growth happening globablly where we’re unable to completely detach.

If you’re exhausted by outrage and cannot go on another march or sign another petition, know this:

We can influence externally by changing ourselves internally. We can all act as balances or ballasts, or our light can illuminate others, or our change can have a ripple effect - inspiring others to change as well. Our actions don’t have to be overt actions. Our inner states can have profound influence on the world around us.

This summer is going to be a firey one. Next week we have the first of 3 eclipses, bringing about powerful changes but also very aggressive times. It’s imperative to stay balanced within.

It helps to remember that everyone is Consciousness, everyone is very capable. And that light is increasing, no matter what it looks like in the news.

Holding Conflicting Viewpoints

Holding Conflicting Viewpoints ©2015 Joan M. Newcomb

Recently I read an account discussing the issues of #blacklivesmatter.  Specifically, Michael Brown's killing in Ferguson, MO and Eric Garner in Staten Island, NY, both by police.  It was by someone trying to remain neutral.  The author was a conservative trying to have a balanced viewpoint but ended up lessening the accusations of police brutality by glossing over facts in both cases, wanting to typify them as resisting arrest (which actually neither were).

It was a feeble attempt at best, and missed the greater, growing, list of examples, of people of color being murdered in the US by police, when white people are not, under identical circumstances.

I'm not a conservative so I'm not going to pretend to be neutral.

However, my main message to everyone is that we are Consciousness expressing ourselves through physical form, I am going to try to give a bigger perspective.

Here's another example.  Bill Cosby, comedian, archetypal sitcom dad and jello pudding "Pop", has been accused as a rapist.  It's actually gone on for several decades, but now many women are coming out with their story.  Recently his wife and one of his daughters have gone public to say he was a wonderful father and husband.

The women coming forward have much to lose, none would willingly make up a story of being assaulted just for publicity.

It's a genuine conundrum for people who knew him personally as a warm and wonderful guy, to have this side be revealed.

So here's the "middle perspective" of both situations.   There is still prejudice and fear against black people (and specifically black men) in this country.  There are countless examples of police using excessive force.  Actually, that's about as far as I can go with the middle viewpoint.  I think the police 'shoot to kill' unnecessarily and this opens a hornet's nest about gun control...

And for Bill Cosby, his friends, wife and at least one daughter genuinely experience him as the same as his public persona.  Abusers have a shadow side; in his case it has come to light.

In the middle perspective, I don't have any answers.  It's painful and puzzling, to deal with people who are wonderful on one hand (e.g. police who helped out with the Twin Towers on September 11th) and are horrible on the others (e.g. the cops who shot a 12 year old with a BB gun).

Or people who were abusers and whose behaviors have modified.  But have never acknowledged or apologized for their acts.

So, now for the bigger perspective, of Consciousness.

As Consciousness, we are joyous, unlimited, all knowing, expansive, unity.  We created the physical realm as a full immersion, 3D game, to experience the opposite of who we really are.  This world has the limitations of life and death.  It has pain and fear.  It has separation and discord.

As Consciousness we love all of this.  It's like an amusement park.  An Adventure In Density and Effort.  As Consciousness it's fun to embody into different people, places and things.  It's like a movie set where actors are giving Oscar winning performances, and when filming is done, all go to the pub for a drink.

Pain isn't real for Consciousness.  But it's VERY real for our body/personalities.

When you're flying in an airplane and see cars on the road, you don't sense their inhabitants thoughts or feelings.  But it doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Consciousness holds space for all of creation, beyond time or space.  All lifetimes are happening at once.

We are both Consciousness, and our individual body/personality.  Each of us is a conflicting viewpoint, of a body preoccupied with it's own survival, and Consciousness focusing into form.

Forgiveness is an attempt to reconcile this conflict, from a body/personality perspective.

Acceptance is another way.  Body/personalties can accept the things they cannot change - which is everything outside of their individual thoughts, feelings and actions.

Consciousness doesn't have to forgive, it holds all of this in such expansive neutrality.

As Consciousness, I can have seemingly conflicting viewpoints.  I can compassionately hold space for victims, as well as abusers.

As Consciousness, I am not betraying the part of myself that was violated as a child or a partner in the storyline of my life, by holding a bigger space with those that committed acts against me.

As Consciousness, I am able to encompass everyone and all of it.

This world is an ocean of experiences.  I can sail it with Consciousness, or I can sink into the darkest depths.  (Scuba diving is fun, but you have to come up for air sometime)!

If we all began to navigate our lives from Consciousness, we would soon not have any conflicts to hold.  It would all be synchronised and harmonious. We could be unique and different and each have everything we want without depriving others.

We can get there, we are getting there.  We are Consciousness evolving, we are the light coming into this world.   Holding ourselves each as Consciousness is how we start.

It Works When You Work It

There's a slogan in 12 step groups, 'It Works When You Work It'.  It means that if you do the recommended steps, you'll see results.

It's the same with energy work, and there's a few caveats.

You can't give something lip service, you have to actually take action.  You can't just visualize or make a collage, you have to physically do something to bring it your vision into form.

That doesn't mean hard work, or effort, however.  When you go into effort, you spiritually spin your wheels.  So sometimes it means stopping busywork.   It means taking authentic steps towards creating your reality.

An authentic step may look like meditation, or yoga.  Or reading a book.  Or taking a nap.

"It Works When You Work It" also means giving yourself time to practice what you're learning, time to go through the steps.  As Infinite Beings we love to jump to the end result, since as Spirit we're already there.

Whatever you are doing, requires a foundation.  Sometimes building that foundation looks like adopting a healthier lifestyle.

If you want to create wealth, you may need to start with balancing your checkbook.  It doesn't matter how great you look on the outside; you may need to start buying yourself new socks and underwear!

If you want to create a loving relationship, you may need to start with self care.  Loving yourself attracts someone who will love You, too!

Anything (on this planet) takes practice in order to become real.  Abraham-Hicks says it takes 17 seconds, but what they mean it, focusing on something for 17 seconds starts the attraction.  Focusing every day for 17 seconds begins to bring it from thought into physical.

However, the focusing has to be fun, it has to be positive, in has to be both grounded into reality and without effort.  If your focusing with clenched fists and furrowed brow, or if what you're fantasizing about doesn't really have You in it, you're just spinning your wheels.

Beware of Gremlin voices.  Those negating thoughts, 'oh this is a waste of time', 'I've tried it already and it hasn't worked', 'who am I to want this?', 'if I have what I want, no one will love me', etc. etc.   We all have Automatic Negative Thoughts.  Don't feed the ANTS.

Miracles happen when you let yourself consistently practice the techniques I've suggest in my weekly articles.  If you're reading this via my newsletter or somewhere else, find them on my blog at www.jmnewcomb.blogspot.com!
