Beauty Amidst Ugliness ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
I’m currently in Queens, NY. It’s a completely different urban experience than Seattle. The population of the borough of Queens is 2,350,000. The population of Seattle is a little under 705,000.
Besides the density, it’s an area that’s been lived in for a long, long time. There’s dirt, sweltering heat, smells, and... peaks of beauty.
There are little reminders everywhere that beauty exists even in the midst of ugliness. And, as any artist will tell you, there’s beauty in ugliness, too.
We’re seeing different examples of ugliness in the world today, from human behaviors that are unkind or downright evil, to natural disasters intensifying as the climate changes.
It’s easy to get caught up in this reality, feeling swept away by forces that seem more powerful, or out of control.
Yet all of this is a creation of Consciousness, by Consciousness. At your essence, you *are* Consciousness and what you’re experiencing in your reality is created by You.
That doesn’t mean Climate Change is your fault, or that you’re responsible for the shitshow on the news. Or that people are dying because you had negative thoughts.
It means that you’re the composer, conductor, soloist, and lead chair of this orchestra. The music is pretty dramatic and clashing right now. It’s more Wagnerian than Bach. Or maybe in your reality it’s heavy metal.
As Consciousness you delight in all of your creations. Even as it seems frustrating to your body personality aspect. And when you shift your perspective to living life as Consciousness, the surrounding world comes into sharp focus. Colors seem brighter, it feels expansive and effortless.
And on a dingy, graffiti’d street in Flushing, a pink rose will appear to remind you that there is beauty in the midst of ugliness. All of this is indeed a creation of Consciousness.
We’re going through a huge evolutionary shift at this time. Increasing Consciousness is coming into form. We’re able to embody more light than ever before. And as we bring this in, it illuminates the darkness, it reveals where we haven’t dusted, it shows up in our surrounding reality as well.
All the ugliness in the news is a reflection of the darkness that is in the process of dissipating. Shadows go away when light floods in. What we’re seeing collectively is the light of Truth revealing the darkness of lies and distortions. People who’ve lived with those distortions as their reality are experiencing a lot of fear and discomfort.
And within each of us, that which our Light is not in alignment with, is disappearing as well. It can feel like a shock or a loss if you’re strongly attached to those things.
When your relax and allow yourself to operated as Consciousness, everything easily reorganizes in your favor.
Try this, and you’ll discover what manifests is beyond what your mind can possibly imagine.

How to Handle All This Darkness
How to Handle All This Darkness ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Right now we're in the dark side of the moon, we're having a new moon eclipse tomorrow. It's the 3rd of three eclipses that started a month ago. People have been going huge growth spaces. I'm not an astrologer, but I see astrology as an energetic component of the hologram, that is the world we're creating as Consciousness. It's like energy weather. We can use it to our advantage, like wind in our sails.
So eclipses open doors, create sudden new changes, beginnings and endings. But they also 'eclipse things', which sometimes means shining light hidden things but also means not everything is fully revealed. Change can be initiated that doesn't become fully clear for a month to six months.
So we're going through dark times, some of us are fumbling around, many of us are frustrated that there isn't enough light yet. Especially those of us who are light bringers and healers, who want to illuminate, enlighten, clear, and restore to wholeness.
I have to confess, I'm still a little afraid of the dark. But that's because I sense denser energies as I move through it. In my last house, which was built in 1905, I always felt energy just outside the bedroom door (which made it real fun to go to the bathroom at night).
In my current house, which was built in 1956, the family that lived in it 60+ years has had at least two members that have passed. So I'll feel the presence of one in our hallway (most likely the one who passed most recently). I've just learned to walk through it without resisting.
In the old days, I'd do an exorcism. In recent times, I've just been navigating around it. But it occurs to me to do a different kind of energy work, a kind of house blessing, which brings it into present time. It gently releases energies absorbed from the past and assists them to their next level of evolution.

And that so ties in with what is going on in the world today. Darkness is coming out of the woodwork, as increasing light of Consciousness is coming into physical form. It feels more intense as it is being seen more clearly.
It feels like historical patterns, that no longer fit in our current state of evolution. It's bubbling up from our unconscious, and playing out by unconscious people.
When I am in the present moment, the past ceases to exist, it goes away.
You can do this for yourself, very simply, by bringing yourself into Present Time. Bring your focus into the present moment. Imagine bring it back from all other places in that you've had your attention on, throughout time and space. What you may notice is sensations within you, and sounds around you, become more acute or clear as you're fully present to notice them.
You can also do this by creating a focal point of Consciousness within you, wherever you place as your center. This is you bringing your full light into the present moment, which can effortlessly release all non-presences within you.
Do this whenever you think of it, and notice how it changes your perception. It will have a ripple effect out into the rest of your reality as well.
Try this for the next seven days and see what happens!

Even In Darkness, There Is Always Light
Even In Darkness, There Is Always Light ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
We just had the Winter Solstice, in the Northern Hemisphere the shortest day of the year. It means that now the days will start being longer. I find it ironic that it's also the coldest time and with the worse weather.
And as I think about it, the Summer Solstice means the days are starting to get shorter, but August always is the warmest month and the evenings seem to go on forever.
This planet is full of dichotomies.

From an external perspective, Winter is when nature seems to go dormant. The ground is hard, trees have gone bare of leaves. And yet, below the surface, nature is very much alive. Seeds are germinating, and animals are hibernating with their young.
On an unseen level, Earth's architects are planning the future growth cycle. Come the Equinox, these plans will be delivered into form and become physically apparent as the seasons change.
Besides the darkest time of the year, it's often the most painful. Many people pass during the holidays. I personally think this is because the veil between worlds is thinner.
We go through similar evolutions in our lives, and its feels harder when we cannot see what is coming. We feel like we're in a time of increasing darkness that is never going to end.
And yet, even in darkness, there is always light. It may be that, with all that is happening, we can't feel it.
No matter what is going on in your life, whatever is occuring in your storyline, there is always reason to hope.
It does get better.
Above the worst blizzard, the sun is still shining.

Light in the Darkness
Light in the Darkness ©2014 Joan M. Newcomb
The holiday season holds many memories for folks, not all of them warm and cheery. This time last year I was visiting DC, recording my father's life stories in his final month on hospice. The year before I was midwifing my mother on her way out of the body. Ten years ago a loved one was hit by a car, which propelled me through intense grief, as well as intense learning about the reality of life beyond death.
My own storyline has had bleak chapters for this time of year. Times, as a single parent so poverty stricken that my kids only gifts came from the food bank. Or when a loved one suffering from an illness went missing for 3 days the week before Christmas.
As we (in the Northern Hemisphere) are heading towards the shortest day of the year, it's helpful to remember that there is always light in the darkness. Even in the darkest night, the sun is still shining somewhere.
Things seem dark and painful when we view them as our body-personalities. As a body-personality, I lost both parents last year (and a dog, and a house). As a body-personality, I had stories of being poor, frightened, or abandoned. When I step back and see things as Consciousness, it's an entirely different experience.
I midwifed both parents out of body last year. I held space for the two beings, who played the roles of my parents, to transition back to Spirit. I also held space for my dog to do so (as I have for many pets in the past). I released my house on Vashon to step into new opportunities in a new city. As Consciousness, joyous and unlimited, I've created experiences of contraction and expansion.
I can assure my body that we've lived through these things, that we know how to get through anything that may come up. I can comfort my body by appreciating how great things are now and realizing that 'it does get better'. Our house in Tacoma is twice as big (and half as expensive) as the one on Vashon. My parents are still here, I feel them rather than see them, they're easier to access than when they were in body. All our pets still exist, too, young and energetic and happy with no litter boxes to clean or poop to scoop!
It's my purpose as a Being of Light, as a natural Lightbringer, to shine light in the darkness. It illuminates the shadows so we can them. Light is always accessible, whether we can feel it or not.
So if you're feeling bogged down, breathe deep and feel Consciousness within you and around you. Mentally step up and out of the morphic field of doom and gloom. Imagine stepping through the door where things are lighter and brighter. Anything and everything you need is available to you. Allow the energy of it, love, prosperity, warm, plenty, to surround you and infuse you.
Do this continually for the next 7 days and it will transform your life!
