'Yes, We're Living In A Simulation (But We're Not Just Avatars)'

'Yes, We're Living In A Simulation (But We're Not Just Avatars)' ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
This is the *rough draft* of my talk to Ignite Seattle on May 18th (it's still under construction)!

Have you ever played video games? How about online ones with gamers around the world?

Elon Musk, says there’s a strong probably that we’re living in a simulation and is working on how to break out of it.

The idea came from  'The Simulation Hypothesis’, a paper published in 2003  by Nick Bostrom, a philosopher at Oxford University, which stated that we are almost certainly living in a computer simulation.

Last year Neil DeGrasse Tyson led the Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate "Is the Universe a Simulation?" in NYC with a panel of cosmologists, physicists, from MIT and Harvard.

So here’s the flaw with most of their (arguments) - they’ve coming from the perspective of being an avatar in the game.

Yes, life is a simulation, but we're not just avatars!

At the Avatar level, in the Physical Realm, life seems to be like a full immersion, virtual reality, where you’re playing with other gamers all around the world. At this level, even though this game is preprogrammed, and is structured in specific and measurable ways such as time and space, there’s a certain amount of choice. If you go left, you set in motion a different series of events than if you turn right. Also at this level, other people can influence your game. Say you decide to go to the grocery store. The moment you get in your car and head out on the road, everyone else in their car, can affect your trip. As an avatar you experience limitations, and take things very seriously. It’s a pretty frustrating and powerless experience.

The next level up is the Programmer level, in the realm of Thought.  This is the area talked about in The Secret, by Abraham-Hicks, The Law of Attraction, and Mike Dooley’s “Thoughts become things”,  if you focus on something enough, you can bring it into your reality. You can change your reality by changing your thoughts. It’s like your brain is your 'Inner GPS', and, you can rewire your neural pathways with positive thinking.  You can program your GPS through affirmations and vision boards.  This can be a big deal for people to discover, because it feels like you have more control. And yet, even at this level of the programmer, you can be operating as if you’re the avatar.

So what’s the next level of awareness? That you are the game designer.

As the Designer, in the realm of Consciousness, there’s no need to break out of the game. Because you’re simultaneously in the game AND outside of it. Outside of constructs of time and space. And you as Consciousness are creating this down to the smallest detail.

Let that sink in. How would your life be different if you knew that you’re the creator of everything in your reality?  How would it change your choices, and how you looked at life?

When you begin navigate this reality *as* Consciousness Designer rather than as your avatar, you feel this tremendous shift. It’s like going from Newtonian Physics to Quantum physics. Reality, time and space, becomes more malleable.  The story of your life appears to break down. It may seem that everyone is scripted, but *you* get to ad lib.You feel joyous, happy, expansive, maybe even bouyant, like gravity has changed.

At this level, strange out of the box things happen. Storylines take unusual twist and turns. Reality show TV stars become president. Idiocracy becomes real.

But wait, there’s more.

Consciousness exists outside of time and space. So from the perspective of Consciousness, this lifetime happens in the blink of an eye. To Consciousness, everything is happening instantaneously AND simultaneously. All lifetimes are happening as once. All possibilities are happening at once. As Consciousness, You’re not just turning left or right, you’re turning left AND right. You can shift your individual experience by effortlessly stepping into a parallel universe.

Wallowing in Density & Effort

(c) 2010 Joan M. Newcomb

There's the Law of Attraction and the Power of Positive Thinking, which are valid spiritual tools that many people misinterpret.  One common mistake with Law of Attraction is to place one's focus totally on what one desires, so they're not energetically "home" to receive it!  You have to put your request out, and then let go of it, because holding on to it keeps it as a dream.  Only in truly letting go can you allow the manifestation to come to you.

With the Power of Positive Thinking, people can be so focused on the positive that they're in denial that they have any negative feelings at all. Putting a cheery smile on one's face and ignoring uncomfortable feelings doesn't make them go away, and doesn't help you create what you want.   Abraham-Hicks has an 'emotional scale' people can use to feel one's way up from despair to joy.

With Robert Scheinfeld's Busting Loose work, he has what he calls The Process.  Whenever you feel any discomfort, you let yourself really feel it.  When it builds to a crescendo, you interrupt (or break through) it by stating that you're The Power & Presence of God, or Consciousness creating everything down to the smallest detail.  You 'reclaim power' from the illusion, and then appreciate what a wonderful illusion it was!

The trick is to do the Process without any agenda or wish to change, fix or improve the hologram.

People get stuck in a couple of places with this.  They get stuck in fully feeling the feelings, but not breaking through them.  And they forget to appreciate the illusion.  They think they have to feel better before they appreciate, but just saying the words even if you don't think you mean them, helps.  Even just reminding yourself that you're Consciousness creating this down to the smallest detail helps enormously.

When you're wallowing in Density & Effort, you've forgotten that you're the Infinite Being who created all of this.  When you remember Who You Are, you'll find the situation funny or exciting.  Infinite Beings love challenges (as well as creative story plots)!

Do you perpetuate your own wallowing?

In the summer of 2004, when I was following Abraham-Hicks, I realized that I was always making up conversations in my head with people, telling them how terrible my life was.  There was nobody there!  I was making it all up!  I was telling a sob-story over and over in between my ears.  I was perpetuating my own misery!

From then on, whenever I noticed myself starting to daydream that way, I'd figuratively grab myself by the ears and change the subject.  And within a couple of weeks I found myself lifting out of a depression I hadn't acknowledged but been in for years.

This isn't the same as the Positive Thinking mistake of denying emotions, it's not making up stressful thoughts that create negative feelings.

Which part of you is wallowing in Density & Effort anyway?  Certainly not your Expanded Self/Spirit/Consicousness.  It's the the Player, the personality or as Eckhart Tolle calls it, the Pain Body.  The part that isn't You.  The part that believes Density & Effort is real, and that it's helpless to do anything about it.  When you identify with that part, you're letting it drive.  Is it really mature enough to have a license?

Wallowing is different than grieving, and different than peeling layers of the onion or dismantling layers of the cloud cover.  There's no growth or forward movement when wallowing.

How do you stop wallowing?  Grab yourself by the ears and tell a different story!  Act like your Expanded Self.  Remind yourself you're Consciousness, even if it feels like going through the motions.  Dive *through* the feelings to the other side.

Try this for a week and see what happens!

Adventures In Density & Effort

©2007 Joan M. Newcomb
This title came to me as I was listening to some audio put out by Bob Scheinfeld, the Busting Loose guy (www.bustingloose.com). I was thinking about, from Spirit's/Source's/Non-Physical's point of view, this physical reality is such a fun game.

As pure energy, we have no form, thus we have no individuality. We have only one vibration - light, thus we know no darkness. We have only joyous ecstasy, thus no other emotions. We exist everywhere at one, thus we have no time or space. We are infinite, thus no limitations. We are what is, thus we are Truth.

What fun it is to experience the opposite of who we really are!

And that is why we're here.

Of course, the moment we're born into density and effort, we start to forget who we really are. By the time we have figured out how to use our vocal chords to form intelligible words, we have started to believe that Physical Reality is, well, real.

The outside world emphasizes that, so by the time we're in school, our connection to our Selves has grown thin.

By the time we're adult... fuggetaboutit.

So I invite you to remember, if you haven't already begun your process of remembering.
